He helped me pick out the perfect singing bowl and walked me through all of the different options and how to use them. The store is stocked with awesome finds that they travel abroad to bring back. Definitely visit if you like these types of shops, I highly doubt you’ll be disappointed!
Natalie Page: I stopped into this shop after wanting to visit for a while. I had wanted purchase a singing bowl for some time now and I love supporting small businesses. Tsering is so knowledgeable and kind and sat down with me playing all of the bowls in the shop, showing extreme patience with me as I had no idea how to choose the right one and was very indecisive. He made the entire visit so much fun and provided so much helpful information. If you stop in you MUST ask about the chakra alignment, it was one of the most relaxing and grounding experiences of my life and afterwards you will feel lighter than a feather. 11/10 would recommend checking out this shop. I will be a regular patron of his from now on!

Beth Redmond Walsh: I walked into this store one day and found it packed floor to ceiling with all kinds of colorful, gorgeous clothing for all ages, men and women, plus Buddhist gongs, and other instruments, jewelry, prayer beads, rugs, household goods, Tibetan Buddhist statues, artwork, music CDs etc. It is truly an amazing collection. Tsering very kindly even gave me a demonstration of some of the gongs and how they can be used as tools for relaxation. You can shop this store online of course but its so worth a trip to actually be in the store itself surrounded by all the beauty within!

The owner is a very kind and generous person and the shop is filled with unique items from eastern cultures/religions including: pendants, statues, singing bowls, incense, earrings, clothing and more....You MUST ASK about the CHAKRA Massage; the owner performs this when asked and its cost is DONATION. You sit on a stool and he uses a singing bowl to vibrate your spine. It is like nothing you've ever experienced.

Every natural remedy and herbal, CBD, holistic, natural, alternative substance turmeric, ashwganda, ginger, ginseng, ginko, tea, etc etc etc... you could possibly ask for. It's super clean. The staff is really nice. There's parking. It's on the T. Seriously... this is the store. 5 stars for high quality across the board. (no weed. It's not a head shop)

They have everything from sustainable snacks and specialty diet foods, bulk herbs and spices, teas, coffees and honey. Evey kind of homeopathic and herbal remedies, including cbd products. They stock household items like candles, glassware, incense, and art. Puzzles, jewelry, cards, beauty and skincare products like soaps, lotions, ointments, shampoos, bath bombs. And they also provide a great supply of sustainable products such as reusable bags, silicone, glass, and metal storage containers and recycled paper towels. They also carry feminine products. Also have on hand beautiful cotton and wool knit socks, hats, and accessories.
hello there: I absolutely LOVE that they have bulk loose leaf teas-- a huge assortment. I'm always trying to find this and this is one of the very few stores that does this, which allows one to try small amounts to discover what works. Yay!

The more "retail" section is awesome. Tos of great stickers, socks, jewlery, bags, yoga gear, natural plant-based makeup... So awesome if you're looking for a gift. Limited food, lots of vitamins and supplements. I'll definitely be back soon!

Miguel Anderson: I’ll give it two stars because I actually like the bulk herbs and the pleasant cashier that I dealt with today. I’ve been patronizing Cambridge naturals for quite some time now, but my last two times here I’ve experienced this Caucasian lady with black hair and her energy is off putting. During the pandemic when it wasn’t self serve she offered to help us but when I gave her my list, which is usually long, it was like instantly it was almost a problem. Today I came and usually when I come I get a lot of things because I come up from New York. From the time I entered the herb station she was staring at me the entire time which made me uncomfortable. A few times I looked up and caught her looking away, I’m assuming it was because I was over in the corner for a significant amount of time gathering my herbs. Anyway, as I was getting the bay leaf with two gloves on and not noticing the tongs, she approached me and said “I’d appreciate it if you used the tongs instead of using your hand in the jar. This was with my gloves on, then offered some sort of help after that dry interaction to which I declined. If I’m spending my money at a small business I preferred not to be “watched” and her social skills are poor, I hope she’s not an actual manager because the skills are lacking. Cultural training is needed here. Anyway, I appreciate the diligence from the cashier. I will be back for my re-up, hopefully it’s on her day off

Book selection has stuff from all sort of points of views religiously, politically, etc. I love that it feels all hand curated while still having a wide selection. I’m chronically ill and was having a flare when checking out. The workers were so patient with me checking out as I was trying to remember the different between my credit cards security code and PIN number haha. I hope to return next time I go to Boston!
Veronica: Many of the things sold inside are fakes, and I told the boss about it, who was very dismissive. And this boss is very arrogant, as if he is God, no respect at all, calculating, afraid of their own less money. The price in the store is ridiculously expensive, really better to go to Amazon to buy. A piece of stone is expensive as hell. And the store environment is very messy, do not like at all. The owner is very rude and you have to make an appointment with him to do anything.
Amadeus: what a great place! the selection here is fantastic - books about western religions, eastern religions, new age paganism and spirituality, philosophy classics, autobiographies, memoirs, politics, etc. on top of that there's a nice crystal selection here. I like that they know 'opalite' is glass :) the two employees I've met are quite nice and laid back too. after I came here for the first time I came back with a friend.

This is a fantastic store for anyone interested in building a collection. The service here was wonderful, and the books will go beyond your expectations. If you are hesitant to go, I would urge you to go see this store; it is a brilliant place for education. On a scale of 1 to 10, the Seven Stars bookstore is above 10 out of 10. This store, true to its name, deserves more than 5 stars. For anyone curious, this store also has a variety of crystals and sage. I am deeply impressed, and you will surely love this place.

M E: One of my favorite haunts in Cambridge. I have been a client for over 15 years. The owner and staff are friendly and helpful. A large variety of various crystals, books and other essentials. You meet the most interesting people @ Seven Stars. I noticed that if the book I am looking for is not in the store if I sit around long enough it ends up showing up the same day (give or take a hour or so). You could also ask the wonderful staff at Seven Stars to also order the items you are looking for. Blessings to all!
Talib Kweli: Ive been to just about every bookstore in Massachusetts and can say pretty confidently Seven Stars is the best. In my opinion its not even close. The owner is a true book lover and has a deep deep knowledge and collection. If you want an obscure treatise from a 14th century Sufi Master, or if you want the complete Shobogenzo, or if you want a rare commentary on the Nag Hammadi library, or if you want the work of a German Idealist, or an 18th century magician like Elphias levi, and so on and so on, theres realy no better place then seven stars. Its a treasure trove. Ive probably spent over a thousand dollars there over the years and am addicted. I work in the area and literally cant stop myself from going in. Im in there maybe three times a week

I needed a particular type of battery and wasn't sure if it'd fit, so the staff member let try the batteries before purchasing. Not the most spectacular thing, but it's not something that you can do on Amazon.

Anthony Z: It's an okay shop for cigars, but pipe tobacco selection was saaaad. Bulk blends are all name brand stuff I could buy anywhere. They don't even blend their own stuff. When I asked questions to the "pipe guy" there, he didn't have a clue what I was asking. They also don't have any aromatic tobacco but apparently that's a local law that they have no control over. Still a downside.
Patrick McKenna: Great cigar selection. One of the best in Massachusetts outside of Boston I’ve found. No parking outside. Easy to walk to right in Harvard Square. They also sell a lot of random things and other various Tobacco products.

Brent Watson: The best niche spot for the sophisticated smoker. Simply put, the best in the Boston! You name it they have it. Cigars, loose tobacco (roll your own cigs (not just bugle), pipes, flake and rope tobacco, and all the usuals as well (packs and cigarillos). Vintage trinkets and nik-nacks litter the room like an eye spy for an older sophisticated well aged man (or woman).The roomate and I have switched from packs to rolling our own from here..and often make the trip just for the 'experience.'

Steven Fisher: I walked into Graymist after picking up a few groceries with my roommate because we were both new to the neighborhood and curious about the shop. It was evident from the moment we walked inside that the shopkeepers had a genuine hospitality and desire to share their craft with deep love.Whenever I walk around Graymist today I try to stop by to check out the range of intentionally displayed products, indulge in the cozy-atmosphere, and walk home with a few new treasures to decorate my own home. Jean Merrill: For almost 4 years, I lived a few blocks from GrayMist. It broke my heart to leave Cambridge but my job eventually required it. During my stay in Cambridge, I walked by GrayMist frequently and stopped in regularly to admire and purchase their unique mix of handsomely styled new or beautifully conserved antique gifts. Many of these one of a kind items reflect the ocean-oriented motifs so fitting of their Nantucket theme. Eventually I started taking basket making classes and was able to make 4 of my very own Nantucket baskets. I even continued to work with their master basket maker when I returned to New Jersey. I miss GrayMist but I am pleased that they continue to thrive and share the ancient art of Nantucket baskets with the local Cambridge community. If any health inspectors are reading our reviews - please visit this location!The vegetables are very old. As in, you buy some strawberries at 8pm, put them in the fridge, and the next morning they have molded. I've had this exact scenario happen FREQUENTLY with: strawberries, raspberries, figs, blackberries, and even blueberries.They sometimes sell spoiled meat. Like, slimy meat that smells like death. I've had this happen to me several times in the past 1-2 years. It's especially a problem with uncooked sausages and ground beef. At this point, I only buy vacuum-sealed meat packages from their freezer section.In a nutshell, it seems that they are desperate to never throw anything away even if it is expired - they don't care at all about quality. Which, considering the sky-high prices, is really insulting to the customers.These are long-standing problems and you'll find other reviews where people report the same issues.EDIT - I showed this review to my mom and she said "yeah I bought spoiled meat as well".

Dan M: Parking can be crowded but surprisingly never had an issue. It’s a small store but the staff is generally friendly and no lines except for rush hour. I’ve had great friendly interactions with the cheese department. Wouldn’t go out of my way here though.
Its all Within: Needed a refund on a $3 carton of Soy Milk which went bad after 3 days. They wanted a receipt, "store policy." Unlike Trader Joe's and Shaw's, which will do it for you in an instant, they just trust you. Whereas Whole Foods wasted my time and that of the sales person and the snarky store manager, who said that he considered this a good use of his time. I can see the US losing ground to China because of policies and people like this. I'm a 20+ year Cambridge resident.
