The Cantab Lounge: what do users think?
Jaye Aster Broder: The positive parts of Cantab include that it’s typically less crowded than 730 Tavern, is near Central Square metro stop, available tap water, modest size, and live music. The negative parts are the entry cover even on an early weeknight, sticky floors, overly loud music, and adults who ask for tips for their dancing. The cover is not even in whole dollars; it’s $10.50.
Seamus Glynn: Same as it ever was. I have memories of it from 50 years ago. It deserves attention from a historian or a sociologist. It's a window into Central Square's continuity over decades of change.
S D: Smells a bit and if you're up to it maybe worth it for the live music
What whatter: Pipe leaked on my head probably sewer?
Iñigo Rengifo: If you want to be treated very poorly by the staff, this is the place to go.If you want somewhere nicer, go to the places nearby.
Sheika Babin: The Cantab Lounge was awesome. It's been a few years since I last patron the lounge but still offers a good experience. My preference is upstairs with the live band. Downstairs is good with the DJ but a younger crowd. Cantab offers something for everyone and a good atmosphere. The mixed drinks are excellent!
Andrew Zoller: Poetry slam Wednesdays are kickass! Super fun vibe and good show/talented people!!
deez nutz: Black leather Mondays here are awesome
Valentine: Sympa mais il n’y avait malheureusement pas de musique le moment où nous sommes venus
Robbie Ashton: Great underground spot for standup comedy, open mic nights and more. Cover for comedy is $15, but you get your money's worth and cards are accepted for it
Adrian Byng-Clarke: I was skeptical about the new management and renovation for such a landmark…. But it remains a special place
James Brooks: Great bar!
Caasi: Had a blast tonight. Loved the lower basement edm/techno
Gus Olownia: Drinks are fine, music is fine. The amount of creeps there though grabbing people without there consent is absolutely disgusting. Glad to say I'll never be back there again. I was willing to make an exception because customers are external factors but when I heard those creeps were regulars and even the bouncer knew them? HELL NO
Keiichi Hashimoto: My Go for jam session since 1990 !Old friends,... New Friends and more.Sundays and Wednesdays9pm house band starts10pm Jam startsAlways Great Time !see you guys around !
Michael Powers: The bar has been remodeled. Looks much better
Kristopher Kuss: Totally average place to get a drink or see a show.
Brian James: Classic old time Mass Ave. Cambridge lounge to hear some music and get cold beer or cocktail.
Hanna Krueger: Best bar in Boston area, hands down.
Faith Festa: Very nice Good music evening
Inviting Interior Style Jennifer Collins: Always a great time to see a great band

Lizard Lounge: what do users think?
Trappist 1: bald guy working the door/box @ dub apocalypse tonight was rude and arrogant. will not be back. bad vibe.
Eric Warner: Amazing room and lovely staff. Every night there is special.
James Kane: What a cool venue
Alice Philbrick Potenza: Always great live music. Upstairs, Pub food is also very good.
Daniel Bennett: Been here once and so far I love the atmosphere! Food is pretty good and there's a small bar. The people here are supportive and they encourage artists to speak their mind uncensored
T BXTWO: Chameleon Rift music was fantastic at Lizard Lounge. High energy high quallty electric jam that takes you away dancing even when you're sitting down. Can't wait to go back.
Lakaila Galloway: Always a great time at the Lizard Lounge! So glad they have opened back up! Happy retirement to Jeff Robinson!
Mike Pietrowski: Love this room!
golfinmang: Awesome spot, cool ambience. I liked the options on tap and the live music was great! Shout out to Ghosts of Jupiter!
John Gillis: Intimate with good sound. Table service could be better.
Sarra Abusamra: The main memories are of a great time
Ayan Chatterjee: Great food, especially the burgers. Sitting outside is a bit tough during winter.
John McGowan: Great food and super acts/bands in the heart of town! Very intamate.
Reggie Etienne: I'm a big music fan, so when the music is right my mind is right. Went to this spot to check out a drummer friend, stayed for so much more. It was a super funky experience.. words won't do justice. it's worth checking out. I'm going back soon to check out another band by the name of Dub Apocalypse. The musical part of the venue is in a sub level and may feel a bit claustrophobic for some, but once you order a beverage and begin to absorb the music, you'll be fine. It actually enhances the experience You can almost get close enough for the musicians to sweat on you.. If you're into that stuff (..and who isn't)On my first trip I got the chance to see 3 bands.. all very good! Think funky, jazzy, Erykah Badu, Parliament. Vocalists were on point and very entertaining.. and the music? FugetAboutit!!
Annie Rabi Bernard: The tacos are very tasty and flavorful. The cheesy nachos have more cheese than you can ever dream of !!!
Matt Chase: Unfortunately, all I have are blurry photos and some videos but that is a FANTASTIC sign. Lizard Lounge was great, the local bands and artists that played were extremely talented, something I wouldn’t have expected had I not read other reviews. I ended the night talking to a few of the folks playing and they were down to earth and humble of their work. Although there was only one bartender, he was friendly and worked hard. Loved this little spot.
Gnu Gnuzza: Superior spot to enjoy the talents of our local musicians.Bar staff was exceptional.
Andrew Lindsay: The best place in town to see Duke Levine and Kevin Barry!
Samantha Mackowitz: Great spot for live music! Loved it
Chris O'Connell: The Monday open mics are a great place to meet local musicians. George is a great MC and keeps it lively.
Alan Stallings: Awesome place to enjoy true art!

David Sierra: Tasty food and a cozy atmosphere.
Ananda Mishra: Great atmosphere with good food. Good selection of drinks menu.

Donal Waide: The gem of a back garden is an oasis in the city.
Roberto GM: Excellent cheese board, variety of Bourbons and service.
Joe Boxell: Went there to see Dwight and Nicole live and was amazing.. great staff ..beer was reasonable and had a very peaceful atmosphere. Definitely will be back !

The Lilypad: what do users think?
Jozef Kluczkiewicz: Great small setting to catch a performance.
Wang Weizhi: Best sounding setup for live jazz in Boston area!
kungfuaxe1: Love playing here, hanging out here and listening here. A special place for creating music and community
Mirabella Platt: Went to this small venue for a Kiwi Jr. Concert, and it was awesome. 10/10 very intimate setting, they had water and restrooms I recommend for concerts. Very very small.
David Rand: The Lilypad is awesome! Such a cool venue, run by great people
Federico Francescato: Great stuff. Incredible music. My ears are still ringing.
usa Sudan: Good 👍morning
Matthew Bagnall: Great spot for eclectic live music, with a friendly face in Jesse running the show. It’s a family environment, ever changing and evolving, full of creativity and love for music. An experience unlike any other!
Whistle Rymes: This venue was an incredible experience! It sounded greater than a lot of other venues in the city. I love the whole atmosphere and artwork on the walls! I'm 2 hours away from this venue and the show I attended was SO worth my time. One of the most incredible nights of my life! The moshpit crowd was a blast too, I hope more of my favorite DIY bands play here soon. Staff were very into the music as well, this place is a true gem and definitely worth checking out if you're in Cambridge.
Ric Wheeler: Local venue for live music which brings in really unique and wonderful artists.Bonus is the funky art on the walls.
Steven Laliberte: Great place
Joseph Nowd: As a up and coming musician in the Boston/Cambridge area; this venue and ownership is everything a music lover and a musician could wish for.Professionally and courteously run. LOVE the acoustics and the atmosphere is phenomenal & authentic. ❤️🤙🏼
Alix Yarrow: It's crusty and small but it's just right. I had a pleasant time seeing Charlie Martin. They have a bar and bathrooms.Feedback regarding accessibility:It was unfortunate that they put all the chairs away for the show. Even at larger venues with far more pumped up artists, there are chairs placed to either side of the stage for folks with different abilities or health conditions that limit the ability to stand for the duration of a show. A friend in our group had to sit down on a bench due to back pain but couldn't see.
Julian: One of the best places to see music or comedy in the Boston area. The people who run the place clearly care more about music and entertainment than about making profits. The space is intimate and has good acoustic treatment. The crowd is mostly respectful and attentive. Beer is available.
Craig Minoff: Pretty funny comedy, got super hot by the end
Adam James: Drove 5 hours from Jersey JUST to see the sensational Emily Reo at the delightful Lilypad. My pregnant wife was even able to sit front row in a super comfy chaise. So even though Ms. Reo played a super short set, the entire experience at The Lilypad was worth the drive.
E. Stephen Curator: one of the few tiny, multigenre, performance venues left in the area.Support local culture!
Nicolai Cauchy: comfort (Spartan) and acoustics notwithstanding, it's a great small joint for live music - alas all too few of them remain...
Bill Davidson: Small space but great for an intimate musical show. They have drinks available. Sound mix was perfect. Admission varies by the performer. Other restaurants near by.
Brendan Murphy: This place is incredible. Who know a Wednesday night 5$ variety show could pack so much talent and energy? Home away from home to a veritable pack of talented musicians, comedians, and other talents who all practice together and support each other.I lived within walking distance of this place for months before I checked it out, learn from my mistakes. Don't wait. Go support talented artists :)
Nicolas Bussière: Amazing jazz venue with somehow uncomfortable chairs, but low cover charge. I will return to this place on my next visit for sure.

Regattabar: what do users think?
TBird100636: Let me be the first to say, I'm not a hard core Jazz aficionado. It started with a friend sharing Postmodern Jukebox almost 4 years ago. While I didn't like every cover they put out, I kept watching. In September of 2016 they debuted a new cover of Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up". The featured singer was a Swedish national treasure, jazz multi-instrumentalist Gunhild Carling. I was blown away by her energy, and being able to play so any different musical Instruments, and sing to boot. Weeks later, she was featured again, covering Madonna's "Material Girl", singing, playing trombone, and tap dancing. I was hooked, and started following her and her equally talented family shortly thereafter. While most of her touring was elsewhere in the world, she did occasionally have dates in the United States. I can't travel far for a variety of reasons, so even going to New York where she performed most frequently was out. Only something close to the South Shore area was feasible. With her increased fame from her PMJ covers, as well as her weekly stream from her former residence in Stockomollan, Sweden, she began to perform more frequently in the US.In the summer of 2018 she announced a variety of tour dates for the middle of November. One of those dates was the 14th, at Regattabar in Cambridge, located in the Charles Hotel. I ordered a ticket a couple months in advance, the pricing wasn't bad. Other than evening commuter traffic going into and out of Boston, it wasn't hard to get to. It took about an hour to get there from the South Shore. If you plan on coming here, use Google Maps to get directions and input the time you plan on leaving, that way you will get an accurate gauge of how long it will take to get here. Parking was very easy, it was in the hotel's own parking garage, Regattabar will validate your ticket for a buck or two off. For parking, drive all the way around the garage until you find the elevators, there seemed to be ample spaces right around there.I arrived early, doors actually opened 1/4 of 7 for the 7:30 showtime. Seating is randomly assigned, I guess according to when you bought your ticket, so I had a good seat in the front row to the left of the stage. It's a big room, seating take up about a 1/3 of it around the stage area, behind it is an open floor for dancing. The waiter greeted me almost right away, and I ordered a drink. I will say the drink seemed to have like a lead or graphite taste to it, but was passable. The show started right on time, Ms. Carling was backed up by New York based musicians Dave Post on bass, Matt Baker on piano, and Daniel Glass on drums. Let me tell you, if you have never seen Gunhild perform in person, go do it already. She is an amazing, friendly performer. I knew she would be better to see in person, but I was totally blown away. She did an hour and a half set that night.Overall, this was my first time at a jazz club, and it was a positive experience. The size of the room is great, with windows to look outside over-viewing Bennett St. The acoustics of the room were fantastic, the volume of the mics wasn't too loud, it wasn't too hot or too cold either. The lighting in the room set the mood well. Other than the drink issue, the chairs at the tables were a tad uncomfortable. Not much cushioning, and too upright for me. Other than that, a very enjoyable experience.7/4/2019 EDIT: I went to Regattabar on 6/20 to see Gunhild Carling perform again, simply amazing. Other than that, I did order a drink again, this time it didn't taste funny. The chairs are the same uncomfortable ones from last time. Even still, I had a front row seat, the earlier you buy a ticket, the better the seat you get.11/23/2022 EDIT: I'm not sure what's going on, but Regattabar closed 3/2020 as a result of the pandemic, but where the majority of venues have already reopened, this venue strangely has not. The website simply displays "Regattabar is temporarily closed due to Covid-19 until further notice.". I would hope they eventually reopen, but over 2 years later it does not appear so.
Spud Resnick: If show gets canceled due to pandemic you'll be ignored and never haveyour money refunded
M King: Love the small room. Close to the band w a bit of room to dance.
Tej Patel: Jazz band was amazing, the service was not efficient. Waiting staff should utilize mobile credit card scanners.
Oh Mail: Politics must be in politics, and this bar is political litter.
Maciej Wasiel: The other big jazz club in Boston. Musical acts are often world famous and the club is small enough to feel cozy. If you plan on drinking get your order in as early as possible because they only ever have one bartender who works like a madman for the first hour. If the house if full you might have to wait 30+ minutes for your jazzy cocktail. Better yet, buy a drink from one of the bars downstairs and bring it with you. Your table neighbors will be green with envy.
Vera Rubin: The recital was very much below a good jazz standard
Ralph ABRUZZESE: Great !
Maiyim Baron: very comfy place with exciting Jazz attractions. Good sound system and seating all around. Get there early to get a good table. Unobtrusive competent wait staff and very good small plates to order along with your drinks. The liver pate is amazing. Maybe the best I've ever had.
Jose Luis Altuve: Good place
Roger Reis: Nice place! Slow drink service. Close intimate setting. Great place for a date.
Irene Aguero-Torres: I wish the Regattabar was open EVERYDAY. Evelyn is the best waitress EVER!
Joyce The Voice: Great concert and venue.
Carmella Ciampa: Great place!
Wako Iwasaki: You sit so close to see some of the best musicians in the world!
Lee Ann Freitas: Went to see Nellie McKay and they booted her off the stage...don't invite amazing world class musicians if they can't play their entire set. I adore Nellie, she put on an amazing show and to not be able to listen to her full set was dissapointing. The Regatta cut off her mike at exactly 9:45. Evil.
Bow Stratton: Nice to be very close to the performers. Needs some updating though and service is always a bit slow
Ismail Lahbibi: Nice
Ben Dottinger: Awesome location, awesome atmosphere, awesome scheduled performers. I feel like they pack it just a little too tightly though, it's kind of suffocating
Valerie Lattell: Kind of a strange set up for a music venue, but all the seats were good and you could hear the music well. Plus, parking is underneath the hotel which is convenient.
Joseph Carper: I have a love/hate relationship with this place. You can’t choose your seats ahead of time, the sound is iffy, the service is indifferent, the set lengths can be pretty short, the space is quirky...but those times when the artist and audience click, it’s terrific.

Sonia Live Music Venue: what do users think?
Lindsey Goulet: Terrible sound.
Susan Tiernan: Fun small venue, arrive early if you need a Seat, there are three pews I affectionately call the VIP section.
Arnaud Coston: Great place.
Liam Sampson: Bad vibes, even worse acoustics. Fights braking out and people have loud conversations mid show, nothing done by staff. Saw an amazing artist but the dead crowd and sound quality was just not it.
Akshat Sanghvi: The sound system is faulty here. Its just pierce your ear facing the right speakers. Multiple people closed the ear facing the speaker. The experience wasnt worth the charges.
Aaron Geisel: This venue gets you up close and personal with the band. Due to the small size you could usually get a good view of the stage just about anywhere. We saw Against the Current in 2021. The weird thing is that it seems to be run out of a club(?). We were there for the band, so I can't speak for the amenities. Lights were okay, but I think your experience will greatly depend on how much you like the act on stage.
Lance Sharpe: I'm writing this because of a lot of the other reviews posted. Maybe it depends on the day but our first time going was Thursday night and the staff was great, beer was fairly priced and the venue seemed clean as well. From the guy checking IDs at the door, to the guy handling passes, to the bar tender, all were very pleasant. The guy checking IDs also said there's a strict no-vape policy because their sprinkler system is sensitive and has been set off before. Based on our experience I would recommend this place hands down.
Kara Trott: Sound is horrible and venue feels like a highschool dance gymnasium. Missing the intimacy and family vibe of TT's. atleast they had that. Seems like downstairs middle east and sonia are in competition as to who can make it sound like music is being played through a giant metal echo chamber.
Studio E90: Went here for a rap battle. Loved the space and the event.
Viraj Patel: Worst experience every!!!!!The Bollywood night was supposed to start at 10. We were in a line since 10:15 but finally got in after 11:15. They took forever to check id and let people in.As soon as we entered they started treating us like slaves. NO AC at the venue. Finally, they turned the AC on after 1 AM. When people started feeling suffocating.I stepped out to answer important phone call. They didn’t let me in. And said anyway only 15 mins left so you can go home. And I had to wait over half an hour for my friends to come out. So I was roaming on the streets like homeless.Never choose this place guys!!!
Emma Couture: Loved how intimate this venue was! Sound quality was excellent! Would definitely come back for another show!
Joe Cooke: Bouncers seem to be hostile and improperly trained. Easy fix for any respectable owner.
Kelli T: Unfortunately some people whowork here are quite grumpy.Enough to turn people away on avery slow Sunday night. If I werethe owner I would check in with my employees.
GUALA: Fairly clean and safe feeling venue, small capacity. Sound and lighting engineers clearly had no idea what they were doing. Vibes were just OK. Nothing special. Sound quality is bad, no dedicated subs. Also if your promoter cant fill a 200 cap room for a major dj, fire the promoter!!!
Patric Docmanov: Beware.
Eli Moslemi: I was there last night for the first time. It’s a big region connected to multiple restaurants and bars in the building. The Sonia Live Music Venue though was quiet a small old place. Sound system quality was good. Next to the stage is a bar.Restroom was fine, not very clean.A point I can mention is there are some benches around the room in case during the live you get tired and need to sit.
Abdallh Zahabi: Liverpool vs Real Madrid.. come over, there is a lot of room here at 201 Harvard St, Brookline, MA 02446
Shreya Sivakumar: Went to two different concerts here recently. During the first one, the fire alarm went off in the middle of the show and everyone had to evacuate. We were allowed back in after a short time and the the concert resumed. The same thing happened again at the second concert and everyone had to evacuate and stand outside in the cold for a long time before we were told the rest of the show was cancelled. Turns out someone kicked a sprinkler at one of the Middle east venues causing it to flood that also set off alarms here. A random fight also broke out at the second show before the alarms. Besides all that, the venue is alright. It's on the smaller side and has a good view of the stage from almost everywhere. I do prefer the other Middle East venues over it though.
Patty: Friendly staff very attentive. My son was able to stand right at stage. Small venue but not overly crowded. Fully stocked bar for adults.
Tyler Z: Saw Schwayze on 11/13. The venue is interesting to say the least. Kinda feels like it is a converted church of some sort? There were these wooden benches that go all around the interior of the venue. It’s a really intimate venue so you’re able to get up close to see whoever is performing without much difficulty.I’m not from the area, so maybe this was just my fault but I did not know proof of vaccination was required to enter (photo is fine). My friend did not have a picture of their card and had to go back to our hotel to snap a picture of it before being able to enter.
Brian Watson: They don't enforce a mask mandate. As in more than half of the people entering weren't wearing a mask and the staff at the door were completely cool with it.

The Sinclair: what do users think?
David Potter: Great place to see bands, and just the right size. Sound / mix has always been very good when I’ve been there. Also, super convenient to get there.
Jesse Call: Great sound, great space, staff is great. Overall, I’m just happy whenever I see a show here!
Craig Minoff: Cozy venue, reasonably priced
Xmall X: Brilliant! This gem is just 2 steps away and its never a deception. Great concerts every week. Price is right. Staff is wonderful with patrons! Thank you Sinclair!!!
Max Metzger: Mid sized music venues are an endangered species, very glad this one is here.
Margaret Riley: Great venue (SRO, so be aware).
Aaron Lyon: Nice venue, good staff. View from Mezzanine and on mid level behind sound board is great. Saw NoahFinnce, Bears in Trees, and Action Adventure. First club show for my 13 year old. It was a good time. There were some good craft beers arlt the bar which was nice since more than half the crowd was underage.
Matthew Cameron: Great sight lines and great sound. Love this venue.
Harold Kozlowski: Great club to see a show in.
Alex Drake (Adrake1234): Great sound quality! Fun place
Angela P: My all time favorite concert venue. Small enough where the view is great and the bathroom and bar line are never too long. Standing room only, but such an intimate show everytime
John St. Amand: Long standing music venueWorld classGreat soundIncredible shows
Nacho Seret: Beautiful small venue, great sound quality and good views from any spot.
Julie Sesen: Very nice venue, we feel close to the artist wherever we are in the room!
Rob Caron: Small but well managed venue. They really should consider having some high top tables and chairs upstairs or something, there is basically no where to sit and still see the show. Drinks are a bit pricey and small
ELP ELP: Sinclair Rocks on Friday nights.... Glitter Boys spinning vinyl...70s disco....on the dance floor underneath the disco lights having a blast in Cambridge....Big fun every time !!!
Seamus Connelly: 2/26/23 Macseal & Future Teens: The sound was quiet literally low enough that my friends and I could speak to each other at normal volume. We were shouting for them to turn it up and nobody seemed to acknowledge this. People chatting in front of us drowned out the singers and the guitars were almost inaudible. We left the show early and Macseal is one of our favorite bands of all time - but the music isn’t good if it can’t be heard. Also for this genre of music guitars and vocals should be blasting. Only go here if you like having a normal time over expensive drinks and light conversation with friends.
Greg Herrmann: Classic venue in Cambridge with some great acts that come through.
Cory N: Live this venue! Small but not stuffed and plenty of bars and bathrooms. Great view no matter where you are standing. I recommend upstairs if you get there for a spot at the railing.
john lee: nice small venue to watch shows
Reyhan U: this place def has a different, retro & cozy vibe. sound is great. toilets could've been cleaner. saw ibrahim maalouf here, it was epic
