Mariana Jordão: Food is good but staff is not friendly. They brought us the bill and kicked us out after less than 1h. We sat 15 min after our reservation because they were understaffed and couldnt help the other tables. I wouldnt go back. Also expensive for what it is.Recommended dishes Lamb Tajine, Chicken Tajine …More

David Lee: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5More
Kate: Really bad food and service experience. Vegetables in the tagine were definitely frozen peas and carrots from a grocery store. Lamb tagine was sickly sweet. They need to hire more staff and improve quality of food.
Adam Assiraj: Amazing food!! I’m Moroccan and usually never go to Moroccan restaurants but my friend insisted I come here and can’t get over how good the food is. Highly recommend it! Chicken bastilla and lamb tagine are something else!

Samuel Ojeda: Some of the best food in boston!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Sergio Solis Checa: It started really well with great small plates that we took as starters, which set high expectations for large plates. However, main were nowhere close to the level of the starters, we had salmon and couscous. The place itself is quite simple but cozy, so no complaints, but nothing special as well. The service is super friendly, but a little slow, and I didn't like that they automatically add 18% gratuity, and then list extra space for tip on top of the gratuity
Trent: The food (chicken tagine, lamb tagine) was under seasoned and underwhelming.
Arindam Samanta: We enjoy a number of dishes here, including the lamb, salmon tajines, as well as the fresh sherbets.Recommended dishes Chicken Tajine, Lamb Tajine, Tagine of Lamb Shank …More
Tim Carter: Best meal I've had in ages! The calamari starter was a def. highlight - very light coating and perfectly cooked with a slightly spicy sauce - Double Yum!!
Othin Ram: food is just okay.would've given negative review given the chance. They didn't serve the drinks we ordered but added in the bill. over charged for the item. in total I had to ask them thrice to change the bill. with the terrible service I had no intention to add good tip but they added 18% already.we're the first group to be in that restaurant and for 30 mins no one was there. their response was really rude and I had a terrible experience when I came here along with my parents.when I asked them about terrible service they told they're busy. Omar (manager) response was we've only ordered 2 entrees. We're group of 4 and we've ordered 2 small plates and 3 entrees and made $175 bill. The way they've responded was so mean and rude. I regret going to this place.
Aishwarya Bobbili: They need to hire staff. These people have worst service and try to make u order more dishes just to include in the bill. We ordered some drinks and they did not even serve us and charged in the bill. They know people don’t tip them for their service and they charge it by themselves for 18% in the total bill which is compulsory for us to pay.Totally worst experience here. Wouldn’t recommend it.

I especially loved the sponginess of the bread :) Very friendly waitress too! I recommend getting the trials of the meat and veggie, so you can taste everything! Surprisingly, I liked the bean dishes the best.
Micki Reinhorn: Great flavor. Fun environment for familyRecommended dishes Meat Combination …More
James Zabik: The ambiance is pretty casual, and you come in and wait in line until your part can be seated. My party and I ordered the meat combo and the veggie combo so we could try a bunch of things. It was totally the best move because we got to try so many amazing things. Eating with your hands and the injera bread was a little weird at first but after a minute I was loving the experience!I would definitely come back here as it was all so flavorful and different than most things around here. I definitely recommend visiting!

Sheger Cafe and Ethiopian Restaurant LLC: what do users think?
Nathan Parker: One of the better places in the area. Highly recommend.
Sean Steckbeck: Amazing place and warm atmosphere!
Robel: They serve old MICROWAVED injera, no shame in their game. I’ve never seen any habesha people eating there so that says enough on its own. If you’re looking for good Ethiopian, look elsewhere.
Sean McKenna: Nice waitress serving the food and enjoyed the food
Tim Russell: Get the Tomato Fit Fit. It is so good. You will not regret it.Vegetarian options: Veggie platter is good, but also order a side of Shiro Wat!Recommended dishes Tomato Fitfit, Shiro Wot Dine in: Yes Outdoor seating: No Takeout: Yes Delivery: Yes …More
Miles: Love!Recommended dishes Combo Platter, Samosa …More
Minzhao Liu: Food: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5More
T H: First time trying and was so disappointed. I ordered lamb tibs, and shiro wot. The injera was old and firm, lamb tibs had no flavor, no berbere, and shiro was watery. Even if it was free this food is not worth it. Eat literally at any other Ethiopian or eritrean restaurant and it will be 100% better.
Hannah Weigert: We order takeout from here often and the food is consistently delicious and is ready within 10 mins. We usually get the ultimate combo.
Jonathan Kebede: The worst place to order food. I order the most easiest food they can make “gored gored” man the messed it in every possible way. You shouldn’t not be allowed to have a restaurant. You should be ashamed of yourself to own Ethiopian restaurant and not able to make “gored gored”
Sa Essa: I wished I can put 0 star, cold not fresh food and they refused to heated for us we left it all we couldn’t even take a bite
Tekie Anday: Not very professional service, the food 8s also off taste. Kitfo special didn't taste normal. No butter taste in kitfo, who makes kitfo with oil? Quit the kitfo or make it right.
L Y: Went there on Monday night, and we were the only customers, I ordered two entrees, the one was recommended by the owner, it was mostly starchy bread with beef jerky, have to say that was a huge mistake. The lamb dish were ok, very little food though. Taste were ok, and I had much better Ethiopian foods before. It's one of those restaurants that you go once and won't return. My friend had the veggie combo, very little food as well. It did take two meat entrees to feed one person.
Geetika Bajpai: Big fan of Ethiopian cuisine. Tried this cafe after all the ratings. Got the vegetarian combo plate. The food was okay, for some reason seemed really low on flavor side. Bread itself wasn't sour as it was supposed to be. Wasn't the best of Ethiopian food of all the places tried. May be it was just that day of takeout ? Not sure. Lentils, also tasted pretty bland. Not the best of experience.
Ruta: Nice place.Good food. The chicken was really goodDine in: Yes Takeout: Yes …More
Amelia Nayfield: I've been here multiple times and everytime it's fantastic! The service is fast and everyone is so genuine and kind. The food is immaculate and I cannot recommend it enough. The atkilt is my favorite but just about whatever you order is fantastic. The shiro wot and samosas are divine. This restaurant deserves a full five stars everytime. The portions are very generous especially for the price. One of my favorite restaurants I have ever been to!
Rod Nayfield: Incredible Ethiopian cuisine. I have been to many Ethiopian restaurants up and down the east coast from DC, to NYC, and Boston ... Sheger is among the best - including the famed DC Adams Morgan restaurants. As you can see from the photo, we had a massive amount of food shared between three people. The Ethiopian samosa appetisers were great and the food arrived quickly. We took home leftovers and saved room for the baklava dessert which was fantastic.Highly recommended.
Julia Zhu: My favourite local Ethiopian place! They have a big meat/veggie combo I like to get. Try the honey wine!
J Smith: Will not dine here again, wait staff was rude and did not accommodate, asked for papers and after explaining why I could not provide I was told to leave and not return. Wrong side of history...
Elinor Actipis: I used to like this place, but it's very unfriendly and discriminates against customers based on medical status for no clear reason, not in accordance with town regulations.
Brian Leslie: Sloooow, inattentive service from a waiter who has to be beckoned to bring us water and the check. But there is zero atmosphere or ambience. No background music playing, which makes it TOO quiet, so much so that we felt the need to speak softly to avoid having every word we say be audible to every other table in the restaurant. all this made for a very awkward dining experience. After eating here twice, we won't be back. Not recommended for vegans. I specified vegan and yet my food came out on the same plate (and comingled with) meat dishes my friend ordered.

Fatimah Alshaikh: food was top notch! best mediterranean food or any food I’ve tried in the area for that matter! def coming back! i came with 2 lebanese people and they loved it as well, so passes the culture check!Recommended dishes Eggplant Fatteh, Dips Plate, Fattoush …More

Ibrahim Mansoor: After what felt like an eternity of waiting (a month to be exact), our anticipation for our visit to Moona, an Eastern Mediterranean & Arabic restaurant, reached its peak. This intimate, mosaic-tiled gem is perfect for any occasion, but it's especially ideal for date nights.Four of us embarked on this flavorful adventure and the place was bustling with patrons throughout our two and a half hour culinary escapade. We decided to embrace the communal dining spirit by ordering and sharing dishes instead of going the traditional appetizer and main course route.Round 1:Dips Plate (mustard labneh, hummus, smoked baba, olives, pickles)Batata Harra (spicy crispy potatoes, cilantro, and lemon)Fattoush SaladThe smoked baba ganoush stole the spotlight, seducing our palates with its irresistible smokiness. The Fattoush Salad was a reliable choice, and the Batata Harra was a revelation - crispy, tangy, and just the right amount of heat. Hot potatoes indeed!Round 2:4. Msakhan Duck RollsEggplant FattehMushroom FarroLamb BurgerRound 2 was a battle between the Eggplant Fatteh and the Lamb Burger, both of which emerged as the undisputed stars of this round. The Lamb Burger's perfect harmony of flavors and textures made us swoon, while the Eggplant Fatteh's delectable layers had us speechless. The Mushroom Farro and the spicy Duck Rolls were also a delightful addition to our gastronomic odyssey.Round 3:Slow-cooked Lamb ShoulderAs a self-proclaimed lamb connoisseur, I can attest that Moona's slow-cooked lamb shoulder was nothing short of heavenly. It was so good that my inner carnivore emerged and devoured the plate in no time. The added touch of dates was surprisingly delightful, making it a true symphony of flavors.Round 4 (Desserts):Hallawa Cheesecake & KunafehI'm usually quite picky when it comes to desserts, but Moona's Hallawa Cheesecake and Kunafeh had me singing their praises. Both were stunningly delicious and served as the perfect finale to our feast. To wash everything down, I indulged in a pomegranate, cardamom, and mint lemonade mocktail. Whoever came up with this concoction deserves a medal – I had four refills and could have easily had more!Despite the packed house, the service was decent, and our food arrived with fairly good timing. Just remember to be patient and perhaps order some appetizers if you're on the verge of being hangry.Lastly, we recommend taking an Uber to Moona, as parking might be a bit of a challenge. Overall, we were thoroughly impressed with Moona's ambiance, menu, and the talents of the chefs. We can't wait to return and explore the rest of the menu!
Sunny Qin: A bit pricy but all vegetarian dishes are delicious!! Highly recommend the vegetarian mushroom main dish! The desert is mediocre tho…
Ahmed Eid: Food was delicious, service was okay, portions were small, and overall it was nice place. Had the eggplant, carrot, and the lamb shoulder.Food: 4/5|Service: 3/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Margarita Kamenova: Great service. Great food. Great place. Highly recommend it.Update March 2023Back to Moona. The food is just as amazing as ever! A soul food to the next level. The octopus and the carrot salad are to die for! The farro brings your soul to life with its fresh warmth and comfort. I'm in love!
Hank: Food: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5Recommended dishes Chicken TagineMore
Aysheh Alrfooh: Recommended dishes Chicken Tagine, Eggplant Fatteh, Musakhan Duck Rolls, Hallawa Cheesecake, FattoushMore
Nathan Kastner: Fantastic food, great ambiance, good music and friendly service. We went to Moona for a late dinner and were blown away by the flavor of the food. For 2 people: Dips Plate, Baby Carrots, Scallop & Duck, Chicken Kebab, Steak Tips, and Feta Fritters were more than enough food. The Feta Fritters might be the best dish I've eaten in Boston. Dessert was their cheesecake - one of the best I've ever had. Scallop & Duck also stand-out as a must-order dish. Don't have any pictures to add of the meal but would go back in a heartbeat.
Eric Baron: If you're looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a romantic night out with your significant other, Moona is definitely worth checking out. The atmosphere is laid-back and inviting, creating the perfect backdrop for a memorable date night. The restaurant's small plates are the real star of the show, each one bursting with flavor and presented with an artistic flair. The food is so delicious that I found myself savoring each bite and taking my time with every dish. The plates are perfect for sharing, which adds to the communal feel of the place and makes for a fun and engaging dining experience. In terms of ambiance, Moona hits all the right notes. The lighting is soft and intimate, the decor is tasteful and modern, and the overall vibe is relaxed and chill. It's the perfect place to unwind after a long day or to celebrate a special occasion with someone you care about. All in all, I would highly recommend Moona to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience!
Fatima Farrukh: I’m sorry but I don’t get the hype. The food just isn’t upto par. Pretty average Mediterranean food which is my favorite cuisine. Easier to get a reservation than most places but I won’t be back
Am: Moona is a little Middle Eastern gem in Boston. We went as a party of four to celebrate several things and they didn't disappoint. Delicious food and drinks kept conversations flowing till late. Also, their staff is simply amazing and wonderful to chat with. Will love to go back againVegetarian options: Many vegetarian and vegan options available
Chris Spahr: This place is the best! Each dish has its own unique spice and incredible flavor - the atmosphere is very chill - drinks are extraordinary and a Lebanese beer washes it all down perfectly.
Sean: Truly some of the best food I've had in all the Boston area. This place makes me want to reduce some of my other five star reviews. Absolutely would return.
T. Z: The restaurant is too small always hard to get seated. Mezza menu are the greatest, eggplant fatteh was so good! The grilled fish came in big portion but the taste is kinda disappointing. I would recommend going for bar seat to have a drink and appetizers that’s all.Recommended dishes Eggplant Fatteh, Feta Fritters …More
Kyle Gil: Honestly stunned how amazing this dinner was . Manager Christine went out of her way to help us with our parties food allergies .the best customer service I have ever seen. I will never forget this dinner . Truly 10 out of 10 experience . I will tell everybody about this place .
Tiia Groden: This was one of the best dinners I’ve had in years. All of the food was unbelievable and the service was incredible. I can’t wait to go back and would give this a 10/5 if I could.Recommended dishes Musakhan Duck Rolls, Feta Fritters …More
Yazy: Not your average Lebanese food. If you are looking for a unique food, you must try Moona!Dined in Friday nightService is great, friendly staff, and nice vibeFood is small portions but packers with unique flavorsFor 2 adults, we got 2 mezzas ( eggplant fetta and Feta Frittas) and 2 from the mashawee ( grilled octopus and date molasses steak tips). We also ordered Halawa cheesecake and was so balancedThey also can turn any cocktails to mocktails And they were so deliciousEnjoyed our dinner at Moona and definitely coming back
Eric Song: Another great small plates restaurant in Boston. The plates are priced reasonably, and the portions are good so you'll end up around $40 per person. I recommend the Eggplant Fatteh and the Mussels.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Eggplant Fatteh …More
Juliet Iredale: Great and affordable food in a very cute setting! We ordered a couple of cocktails and small plates. Everything was very tasty and flavorful – their cheesecake was also very good.

Middle East Restaurant and Club: what do users think?
Jonathon Addington: Great music venue with tasty menu
Lindsey Goulet: As a popular place as it is. Doesn’t know how to maintain toilets in a basement.
Jeff Morgan: Ya'll are absolutely wild.2 Double captain and cokes, and 2 white tea shots that the male bartender never heard of, I got charged 68 dollars with an added in gratuity of 10 bucks!. I drove 3 hours just to watch zeke beats, and I don't care who plays here, ill never be back. Clean the downstairs also. It was so nasty. Floor was sticky before the show even started last night.

Amna Ali: Went to support a friend for open mic night! (stand up comedy) Josh day (the MC) did not appreciate that a big group was here to support someone and taking up space/making noise and heckled us while we paid hefty tips. He also cut off our friend by interrupting him for 2 minutes and then cutting him off. I don’t know what issue he had with us but he kept on disrespecting us throughout the show by flipping us off as he walked off stage. Will never come to the Middle East again and if anyone wants to do stand up I would recommend they don’t come here either.

Matthew D. Jones: Absolutely wonderful experience with East African cuisine, made with the highest quality ingredients, some sourced from Africa. Friendly, attentive service. Highly recommended!
Nabeel Khan: I had a mixer plate with an option of boiled rice, beans, mixed vegetables and a side of Irish. The total cost was $15, which can be pricey on a student budget. Also once you pay in the vicinity of $15 you start looking at items such as ambiance etc which the place could definitely do better. My experience was slightly different from my previous time, when i did take away. While the beans and vegetables were nice, it was slightly less flavorful from my previous time. The Irish was nice and tender potato which is how i like it. I also had a sugar rush before so perhaps that could be the reason.
Erik Deede: Amazing food! You have to go and try it!First time and loved it.I'm not experienced in African food, but everyone else there was African so you know it had to be good. I believe it was the owner who set us up with samosas, chicken with coconut milk and a vegetable dish, with sides of fried plantains, rice and naan-like bread. Everything was delicious.

Maya Fingerle: SOOO GOOD!! I went with my parents for the first time during my Uni’s break and this is such a hidden gem honestly. The food is outstanding and really well prepared, the samosas and the home made spicy sauce were particularly amazing. Definitely will be telling all my friends about this place and will be returning. The service is great and the place has an extremely welcoming vibe - like everyone’s a big family. So glad that we came there, it’s honestly one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. Much love ❤️

Joshua Joseph: If you are a college student or a greater Boston area resident and haven’t been here, that’s your loss. Incredible home cooked, authentic Ugandan cuisine and a very family friendly spot. You will find all of the Sharon’s and Karen’s at in a pickle, or some low bar / overpriced Italian restaurant nearby and not know you are missing an incredible gem of a restaurant. Gf and I got beef stew (fell off the bone and the broth is divine), vegetables (loaded with spices and is honestly amazing by itself), spicy beef samosa (legitimately better than any text you get back from a girl), chapatis and Ugali. Next time I’m here I’m all in for the desserts. Don’t forget to finish with a Chai. This place makes all of Moody’s hotspots look like McDonald’s. 100/10

Highly recommend getting multiple for yourself, they are flaky and delicious. For mains we got fish stew, beef stew, chapatis, beef rice and vegetable sides. We got a spicy hot sauce to put on everything and it was amazing I plan to buy a bottle the next time. We finished the meal off tea!Hole in the wall place run by family, with delicious food. Chepkorir Sambu: Here is a place with delicious East African food. I highly recommend getting the samosas! The chapatis and beef stew were also delicious. I would only wish that the meat is cut into smaller pieces. I already miss the samosas.
katherine zawada: Best food I’ve ever had in my life. The service was outstanding and the food brought literal tears to my eyes. The effort, time, and care put into the food is obvious. Each dish is freshly made each day, no canned ingredients. The environment is warm and friendly and comforting.
Madeleine Molleur: Everything was so delicious. The coconut chicken and the rice and beans were unbelievable! The owner was so friendly and told us that everything is made fresh daily and he sources all his spices from Africa so everything is fresh and authentic. 100% recommend!
