Charles River Canoe and Kayak: Cambridge, Kendall Square: what do users think?
Reyhan U: not a tourist trap. bit pricey but def worth it. views from the charles river is amazing.
Euro Leon: Great service and fun place to go with friends
Laura von D: I hope the kayak boat could be more clean….and hope they empty the water in the boat after each use….
Christian Roman: Kayaking is about is good as kayaking gets once you leave behind the most rude staff even by Boston standards. There’s nothing like having employees openly talk bad about you and be condescending. If I could leave negative stars I would, do yourself a favor and don’t go here, listen to the other negative reviews
Cassidy Burk: My fiancé and I rented a tandem kayak through the team at Paddle Boston this past weekend and had a great time! The check in process was very straightforward and only required us to watch a short video regarding safety and rules before signing a waiver and getting out on the river! The views were incredible and the experience felt very safe. Would recommend to anyone looking for a fun way to see the city skyline from a new angle!
goutham shetty: I suggest you buy the Annual membership. It’s totally worth it.
Mark: It was nice experience. Expensive, but nice
annmarie nagelin: It was a great day on the river. It was an extremely hot day, but there were plenty of kayaks available. The people working were efficient and kept the line moving.
Kim Fournier: Love it! Was there the last 2 weekends. Easy process. Reasonable price. Paddling the Charles is breathtaking. Free on street parking on Sundays.
John F: Wonderful Kayak rental. The area is beautiful, and the staff are very helpful. My friend left her keys in our kayak, and they were able to find them for her. I hope to go again soon
Belle T: We were super lucky to have Lori as our Sunset & City Light Tour trip. She guided us well and informed us interesting information about Boston. In addition, the sunset 🌅 was SPECTACULAR!!! It was a great trip for both me and my friend who just moved to Boston!**Do note that even though this is a 1.5-2hr trip, you are paddling to get moving! So, it’s a good intro and workout for out-of-shape people like us!
Andrew Nagelin: Great location on the Broad canal.Plenty of kayaks and they were busy on a hot Saturday afternoon
James Galinas: The kayak experience itself is great & the price is affordable. My 1 star review is simply about the customer service. My parents are in their early 70's and were in town and wanted to challenge themselves to kayak the Charles (admirable!). Needless to say, with their age, it was not easy for them to get in and out of the kayaks with bad hips/legs/etc.My mother was having trouble getting out of the kayak and ended up rolling out of it onto the deck when one of the workers quipped - "we call that the beached whale technique" and started laughing at her expense.About as inexcusable as you can get.
AJ 1776: Had an amazing day here. Well run with helpful staff.
Sierra Bravo: Perfecto para pasar el día, el precio por el Kayak es adecuado.A veces suelen hacer descuentos
Himalaya Kilaru: I have been here a few times . The view is amazing . Staff is friendly . Would be visiting again for sure .
g zeynep: Rude staff
shriti jaiswal: We doubted if we would get any rentals since it was walk in. Plenty of rentals available. Neat and well maintained equipment and staff. We could quickly get on with our kayaking. The kayak was stable and good quality. Had a lot of fun. The view during the kayak was incredible. You can see most of the Boston skyline.
Nate Cole: I've been here a couple of times before and there hasn't been any problems but their service has been consistently degrading every single time. The workers are not very helpful, rude and seem untrained to do basic tasks. The check-in process is long and they do not do a good job of explaining things to beginners (I had several of my friends who never kayaked but were shocked at how unfriendly the staff was). If you're reading this, there are better places in Boston that will charge you less and treat you better, go there!
L Zsolnay: Absolutely beautiful thing to do after work while the sun is setting. We had a great guide. Very special.
Hank Cooper: A really nice kayaking experience. Prices are ok. The check in process is a bit confusing at first but straight forward afterwards.

Ocean House Surf & Skate: what do users think?
Andrew Zoller: Excellent surf shop- all things surf, SUP, wind, skate and apparel! Super nice owners, easily best shop in the Boston area!!
Rachel Burton: Had an amazing experience here with Amber helping my friend and I get all setup for surfing in a new area. She couldn’t have been more helpful and kind when helping us. Thanks so much and so excited to get out there!
Colin Cavanaugh: Absolutely phenomenal experience buying my first wetsuit with these guys. I am new to the surf world and they hooked me up with all the gear & knowledge to set me up for success. Planning to buy all my gear here going forward.
Alykhan Mohamed: Great people, good gear, and right by the break
Abby Tjie: Unfortunately I had a really scary and terrible experience when trying to rent from this shop. Amber had acted aggressively and was very unprofessional. As I was preparing to receive my rentals, my father had called the shop to inquire about prices, but Amber seemed to have gotten annoyed by the call and began to raise her voice and even used the f-bomb multiple times. After she had angrily hung up, she continued to yell at my mother and I who stood in respectful silence. This was not even an argument, I honestly feel verbally harassed. She aggressively ripped our rental application up in front of us, refusing to rent to us. I'm completely shocked by the experience and will not be returning.
Garrett Warren: Had an amazing experience purchasing my first wing foil board from Ocean House Surf & Skate! I browsed their inventory online and decided that day to check out their selection in person. It's hard to find a local shop with the latest wing foiling equipment. Tim walked me through the things I'd need to get started, and gave suggestions on where to surf in the area. Both Tim and Amber were personable, knowledgeable, and passionate about the shop's sports. Definitely agree that this shop is a hidden gem. The location makes it a great spot to get your gear and try it out. With beaches on both sides, you can always find an on-shore wind (very important for learning).
Jeff Laprade: Local North shore shops were all booked for ding repairs so I drove down to Nahant, brought a custom fish with some cracks in the tail in. I had called prior and they were sure they could have my board back to me, surfable, quick. And indeed they had quick turn around time, along with a beautiful fix and reasonably priced board repair. Very diligent and communicative staff let me know as soon as it was finished. Definitely a place worth supporting.
Andrew Benedick: The crew at Ocean House is amazing. I've now bought two boards from them over 3 or 4 years and couldn't be happier. Tim gives great advice on choosing a board and hasn't steered me wrong yet. Super chill and won't force you into something that won't work for you. He just wants you to be successful. They've got everything you need to get into surfing and to help you progress. Stop by, get your gear and go have fun. You won't regret it.
Fabio D'Ambrosio: Like a hidden gem . Just browsed quickly before getting food at Tides. Has some nice trucker hats in 20-40$ range. Sunglasses in the same rangeSell surf boardsNot sure if they off surf lessons but their was a sign about surf lessons when you first walk in. Will revisit
Kyle W: I recently visited Ocean House in search of a wetsuit, the girl working at the time was very helpful, and gave me some useful advice and found me what I was looking for. She was working by herself at the time, and it was a little bit hectic for one person to deal with alone. It was a beautiful weekend and the waves were pumping, but she managed to juggle the phone and a steady stream of customers all at the same time without neglecting anyone. It was really impressive and prompted me to write this review. Give that girl a raise. The shop was in a temporary location due to construction and parking was shared with a restaurant at the same location. The selection was also a bit limited, especially because it was the end of a busy weekend, but I was able to get what I came for and the prices were definitely fair and reasonable.
Bill Whitsett: Very cool folks. Helpful. Patient. Knowledgeable. And Very cool folks. Shop local. Support your local shops.🤙🌊
Quinn Forman: Cannot say enough good things about this place. The employees and owner know what they are doing; They are truly looking to help you. Went in the other week to find a replacement fin. None were readily available but the owner took out a brand-new set of fins and sold me one. Great experience and will definitely be coming back.
Anne Tashareau: Nice shop. Knowledgeable and very helpful staff. Purchased MF board last Summer. Great "ultralight" longboard and design that doesn't disappoint in moderate/high surf. Considering a paddleboard that can work the small surf days, and will touch base for recommendations.
Caroline McCall: This place is awesome. The employees and owners are super helpful and friendly. They've been encouraging and happy to share tips and tricks for a number of my friends who have gone in to rent and buy gear. They're very available to advise and chat but also give you space to browse. Tim just fixed a ding in my board and it came out beautifully (and speedily), and everyone was efficient and communicative from my email about an estimate to getting my fixed board out the door. Thanks y'all, you rock.
Ana Nenshati: Awesome and helpful owners. They have so much more than boards and surf equipment. I've gotten some great holiday gifts there (tea tumblr, soaps/bath bombs, sunscreen, reusable grocery bags!)
Keith Santos: The staff is very knowledgeable and just great to talk to. They had everything I needed to rent so I could enjoy the waves. The price for rentals was far below what I expected to pay and what I did rent was of high quality. I'm very much looking forward to my next visit.
Yeremi Leonis Tolentino Cuevas: This place is awesome. Cheap prices and great customer service and it's right in front of the beach
Terrence Cullinane: This place is the spot to get your sup on. Surf and skate. Old school boards have arrived. Dayo is the man to ask for. He will suit you to your needs. Very nice
James Annarelli: Excellent customer service
Bridget Cronin: Paddle boards were great, girls working were friendly, but the guy didn't help much just watched a woman load two huge paddle boards with her elderly mom, even after another employee told him to help. Still might go again because of location but just wasn't trying to keep us coming back that's for sure.
Nicholas Curtis: Fin box repair was mint.

New England Kite School: what do users think?
Darrell Kotton: Benny is passionate about Kitesurfing and really communicates the excitement and exhilaration of this activity. I took a series of lessons from him, working up from his introductory/safety lesson to several water sessions that culminated in my buying my own kite surfing kit as also became addicted to this new-found hobby for me. Benny can teach to all levels from those like me who never kite surfed before to intermediate and expert kiters. He is very communicative by text and always sends out group texts to his list of newbies, like me, in case we want to join him on a windy day in New England. Knowing that he is near by giving a 1 on 1 lesson while we can kite elsewhere within view of him gives one a sense of safety and comfort to us newbies. Thank you Benny for all you do for others and for introducing us to this wonderful sport!
Maren Killackey: Learning to kiteboard with Benny was a blast! He is a fantastic instructor who clearly has deep experience in the sport. I had no prior experience kiting, but he explained all the concepts clearly and created drills to help the techniques stick. The kite and board camps were among the most fun things I've ever done. Benny helped me build a strong foundation so that I even feel comfortable practicing on my own. He'll for sure be my go-to when I'm looking to up my skills.
Storm Patterson: If you want to learn how to kite board Benny is the guy to see. He has 10+ years of experience and is very passionate at what he does.
Chris Zarins: Benny was great. I took a few lessons with him this spring starting from zero experience. He was great about instilling safety in the dryland and very flexible with scheduling around the wind. He’ll get you started
Emmitt Harrow: I was super pumped learning to kite with Benny. He was awesome and energetic in the water despite how cold it was (April) and helped me build my kite and board skills step by step. On the beach benny was concise and thorough talking about the potential hazards in kitesurfing and how to make the sport as safe a controlled as possible.
Amin Aouji: If you re planning to learn Kitesurf this is the place! Benny is very knowledgeable and helpful. I took some lessons with both him and Mario it was great. I m still planing to do some training with Ben until I m more comfortable to go out by my own!
Lauren Deason: I traveled up to Boston/cape cod from dc for vacation and decided to take another try at learning to kite after doing a lesson without much success in Delaware last year. Benny was so great at communicating and helping me get into a lesson, which I did with Mario who was an AMAZING instructor. I felt so much more comfortable than I had in my previous attempt at learning to kite, which I think is largely because of Mario’s patience, direction, and choice of appropriately sized equipment for the conditions. I ended up doing two additional lessons with Mario and am now at the point where I’m able to go out and practice without an instructor. I also bought equipment through Benny which I was able to try out in my last lesson with Mario, so I feel comfortable and confident going out next time on it. Wish I was based in Boston as Mario and Benny are also extremely generous at helping out past students with launching/landing/etc outside of lessons. Highly recommend this kite school!
Hany Takla: Best kitesurfing lessons. Ben and his team are very knowledgeable . It’s a great team to work with , very prompt and professional..They’ll keep u posted about times and dates available .. two lessons and I was up on the board..I highly recommend Ben for anyone looking to learn this in New England
Evan Schwartz: Benny is an excellent kiteboarding instructor. He puts safety first and is very passionate about the sport. Once you've learned the basics, try a jetski lesson at Revere or on Waquoit Bay (on the Cape) to turbocharge your learning trajectory!
William Warner: Had several great lessons with Benny and now I'm hooked on the sport
Stephanie: Benny is great! His intro safety lesson goes over important information that everyone starting should absolutely know. I took lessons with Mario, who is a great instructor and made sure I feel safe and in control of the kite/helped me get started on board. Benny offers quality gear and gave me honest advice on gear that would work for me!
Skyler Tucker: Benny is an awesome teacher! Really knowledgeable of the sport and patient with beginners. He genuinely cares about safety and that you can operate on your own
Melissa Fernando: I can't say enough positive words about the instructor Benny! I was super excited and nervous to try this sport. I do not have much experience with skateboarding or wake boarding. Benny makes you feel safe, comfortable, and confident. He communicates clearly and helps coach you by telling you what adjustments to make! He knows when to let you problem solve on your own during the lesson and when to step in. It is clear Benny is absolutely passionate about Kite Boarding and loves teaching others. He is committed and passionate about seeing & getting others kiting on their own!!! I highly recommend NE Kite School for Kiting lessons. I also highly recommend just going for it and taking a lesson if you have been thinking about it!!!!
Bill Schwab: My 14yr daughter did the Jetski lesson with Benny as she had experience with kites. She was riding nice long rides without the worry of being upwind or near shore with all the other riders. Really the best way to learn. Much closer to being upwind.
Jeffrey Trudeau: Benny is a legend- by the end of my first lesson I was confident in my ability to safely rig, launch and control the kite. By my next lesson, I am sure he’ll have me up on the board shredding!
Connor Engstrom: Great experience with New England Kite School! Benny is very level minded and friendly guy. He has a great balance between safely and skill progression. He crafts the lesson perfectly based off your ability, learning style, and goals of the lesson. Highly recommend!!
Almeida Almeida: Benny is a great instructor. Always worried about safety and knows well how to teach and very patient knows exactly what student needs to learn. I hightly recommend him.
Sheila Costanzo: So awesome to watch these beautiful and unique kites on Revere Beach
Nichola Gerland: Awesome experience, well worth the investment. Ben is an excellent teacher and had me popping the board out of the water on my first lesson and rode the second. Very safety focused, I would be comfortable getting out on the water and know I can have fun without getting myself into a bad situation. Kiting is an awesome sport, spent the whole day at work the next day thinking about when I could get out again. Who knew there was that much fun to be had on Revere Beach without driving an IROC Z! Highly recommended.
Vlad Avramenko: Great ground class! Benny is very knowledgeable and professional. Looking forward to getting my feet wet soon!
Matthew J. Macomber: Benny is very knowledgeable about the sport of kitesurfing and has a great ability to relay information clearly. Benny is also very concerned with approaching this awesome sport in a safe and professional manner. I plan to continue training with Benny until I'm ready to get out on my own.I highly recommend New England Kite School if you are ready to start learning this amazing sport.Matt Macomber, Saco Maine.
