Saint Vincent Hospital: what do users think?
Jesse,John Negron: This emergency room is just poorly maintained, no paper towels in bathroom no hand Sanitizer, long wait times. Just overall terrible experience. That Er needs some severe updates.
Cuyler DeArruda: I had a terrible experience at the St. Vincent Hospital Sleep Lab. To start, staff did not properly explain the process-- I was basically hooked up to their monitoring equipment and told "Good luck." Yes, I was given the opportunity to ask questions, but "you don't know what you don't know." I would have appreciated a lot more explanation at the start. Also, the sleep lab seems to be designed to inhibit sleep. The HVAC system loudly drones throughout the night and the room is far from sound-proof. During my stay there, I could hear staff talking, opening and closing doors, and even using their microwave multiple times throughout the night. I was told that if I needed help during the night, I should just speak up and a staff member (who is supposed to be always listening) will respond. However, I called out for help three times during the night and never got a response. My sleep study was scheduled to include an overnight study and additional tests the following day. However, due to the inhospitable environment I was in, I was only able to get about 2 hours of sleep and the study was cut short (6 hours of sleep were required to continue testing). How am I expected to get 6 hours of sleep in such a noisy environment with inattentive and inconsiderate staff members? The St. Vincent Hospital Sleep Lab needs a structural overhaul and the staff need to be retrained on how to help patients achieve a successful study. I recommend avoiding this facility wherever possible.
L A: If I could give this place a zero stars I would. My daughter was brought in for a condition that is not of the physical nature. No sympathy shown, no caring nor compassion…there were NO staff inside that particular floor except perhaps cameras & in no time did she EVER saw any staff members checking up on her. According to her, she was the only female patient among a bunch of male patients. She was not provided with anything to eat & if she wanted water, there was only a faucet to get the water from which was NOT very clean. She was not treated with human dignity, respect nor compassion. I would NOT bring my dog if he was injured to this place.I was a 911 dispatcher for over 26 years retired a few years ago and when I was a 911 dispatcher NEVER did I treated any of my clients with disrespect, unprofessionalism, cruelty that my family member was treated.I always put myself in the shoes of my clients and even when they were less than cordial I gave them the best of me to help them in their times of need and crisis. This hospital needs much improvement in the way psych patients are treated. I hope upper management reads my review and start on putting themselves on the shoes of their patients and their families.
Ashley Drake: Came to the Emergency Department with a head injury, having sensitivity to light and sound (among other things).Waited 3.5 hours in ever intensifying pain in the bright, loud waiting room and bright loud back rooms. I understand that this is not the most urgent issue and that many people have more pressing problems, but by the end I was crying from pain. I really needed help or at least somewhere dark to be. I ended up just leaving because I couldn't tolerate the bright lights and loud sounds of the ER anymore. Even wearing ear plugs it felt like someone was drilling into my skull.Nobody helped me, asked if I was okay, or showed me basic human empathy. They weren't mean, just not interested. They seemed non-plussed when I walked out crying. And I don't mean "shedding a single wistful tear", I mean full on ugly crying, face red, nose running. Also, seems bizarre to have zero concern that someone with a dang head injury is leaving in that state. It was a surreal and physically agonizing experience and I wouldn't come here if you have the time to drive somewhere normal.
Bruce Nanof: Nice people. Horrible parking garage.
Michael Surabian: Sitting in emergency experiencing severe pain for 4 hours while a parade of people get seen immediately because they are “quick” cases. How is that good care? Horrible experience.
baby sickness: was in the er waiting room and someone in a wheel chair fell to the ground unconscious it took a few minutes of all the patients in the waiting room yelling for help for anybody to even come out and check if this person was alive and get them
Meghan Quill: The two visitor per day policy is highly inappropriate when an elderly family member, who doctors have said may not live through the next week, is essentially trapped there with significant gaps in visitation because of this policy. Family members of mine have traveled out of state to pay their respects (and likely have their final conversation) with my grandmother, and were treated very rudely when they called to ask about this policy. This policy seems to be more related to abysmal staffing levels than any concern for patient safety or wellness. If it weren't for my grandmother's health insurance limiting her treatment to St Vincent's, there is absolutely no way we would have her be seen here. If you have other options, go elsewhere.
John Gervais: Not enough staff no communication when you're loved one is in the hospital. Waiting for hours for Dr and nurses to call because they are so overwhelmed. Shame on you St Vincent's for putting through your staff, patients, patient's loved ones through this. my Mom is currently there as a patient and no answer's waiting waiting Waiting for details SHAMEFUL!!!!!!!!! Cathy Gervais
Melissa Durfee: I was asked to pay in advance for a diagnostic test before the insurance claim was processed. Upon processing, I was owed over $600. It took nearly 6 weeks to receive the refund, including phone calls and threatening on the contact us form to dispute the HSA card charge in entirety. Hospital uses a bill collection service for payments. I do not believe the service is even located within the US! Be forewarned and decline requests for advance payment. No other locsl providers operate this way.
Anne Moylan: Overall great. Visiting policy not good when you have a very sick relative. Family traving and not being allowed in even for a minute.
Drew P: I only gave one star because you can't give less. These are the worst doctors on the planet. Please trust me and don't waste your time or allow your health to be put in their hands. I had a great experience with 2 nurses that knew so much more than any of these so called doctors. I don't have enough bad things to to say about these terrible doctors I don't understand how they even got their degreeGo to a different place this place left me in worse shape than how I went in
Stacey McDermott: Walk through the front door to have a person handing out masks with their bare hands. Touching the "outside " is what she said when I rudely told her she shouldn't be touching them. If I have to wear it, I sure as hell don't need an illness inflicted by someone at the front of a hospital. Let me just say- no gloves are worn, nothing to clean your hands. Then the woman gave me attitude. She is a huge part of the medical field and what direction things go. I was not wrong. Your organization is wrong...Please look into your processes and expectations from patients after you review the processes in place for OUR safety !!Thank youStacey McDermott
James Ehnstrom: Labor and DeliveryThe 1:1 attention and respect from the entire support staff in the department was excellent. However, this alone is not sufficient to a positive experience and I cannot recommend this facility to any expecting parent.Room was OK. Department is located on ground floor, next to a busy street. Also, the overnight shift can be consistently disruptive throughout the night. These two make for a very distracting environment.Food service is very disappointing. Not very tasteful or appetizing. Additionally the support person for the expecting mother was not considered in any meal. Fortunately, the cafeteria in the atrium is much more satisfying, and we often got meals for us there instead of relying on the hospital food service.
Ren Lovegood: I will update with additional information soon. terrible place.
Mark McCaw: On March 1, 2023 Dr. Chintan Patel performed surgery on me at St. Vincent Hospital. Dr. Patel and the Urology team there are the best. Julie Sinclair was the Physician’s Assistant who provided the aftercare following my surgery. She was very personable and was very responsive to any questions and concerns my wife and I had following my surgery, and she showed a genuine concern for my recovery. There was a nurse by the name of Kayla Rameau who went above and beyond her call old duty as well. There was also a PCA named Dawn who checked on me frequently and was quick to respond to my needs. This team was awesome and I hope they are recognized for their exceptional care.
Sharon Ramm: Never given less than a five rating for this hospital, my children were born theremy parents have been in and out of the hospital several times always been above and beyond care.3/19/2023 emergency room operator, rude, sarcastic this woman is definitely not suited for her job. This call I'm sure was recorded, and should be looked into to. This was the overnight operator Saturday 3/18/2023-3/19/2023
Amelia: Been waiting since 1 am yesterday. No info. Just got into an er room for them to ignore my nurse call for over ten mins. I am beyond scared for my own health. After it has been a while, coming back to the review, I would not recommend someone go here if they have concerns. Unless you PRESENT as an urgent issue, they will ignore and push you off. Ultimately I was shoved into a holding room and ignored for hours. The staff seemed irritated with me and my concerns. The night nurse was the most empathetic and helpful.I arrived on a wednesday night, where I waited in the hall until Friday afternoon. That is when I was moved to a holding area and ignored the rest of the day. In the evening I was told I had to wait until Monday to be seen. That was over three days away. Once I was able to eat without vomiting, I agreed to be discharged Saturday. This hospital was awful. When agreeing to being discharged, I waited over an hour for the paperwork and decided to leave without signing.Completely disappointing. Thankful my primary care helped me as soon as they could.
Baaba Maison: This was one of my favorite hospitals till I had my last child there. The experience at the postpartum ward was so horrible. I had a c section and the nurse that was assigned to me the two nights after that operation along with the cna who was this smallish lady were absolutely horrible towards me. Whenever I’d call for help to use the bathroom the night of and the night following the surgery, they would take so long to come in and make me get up and walk and use the bathroom on my own whilst they stood there and watched me cry myself to the bathroom and back in bed. Whole time, this smallish lady yelling at me to hurry up and that I should be able to use the bathroom without help, and should be moving around. The assigned night nurse comes in with me sitting on the toilet and gives me my meds while I’m trying to use the bathroom. Mind you, this was the night after my 3rd c section. At one point I asked for help changing my new born, whom by the way, had a heart defect at birth, and the night nurse NEVER came. I mastered strength and changed the baby in pain and in tears and decided to go looking for this nurse, because I had called more than 3 times for help. I slowly walked and pushed my baby to the front desk, only to find the nurse sitting on her phone with someone being rude. So I asked for help from a nurse who wasn’t assigned to me, and she was helpful. After the second night, I had had it and requested to have a different team take care of me. The charge nurse listened to what I needed to say and made changes. those were the ones that restored my faith in the care team. I was so eager to have my 3rd child there up until those first two nights after surgery. The day time nurses were so sweet and helpful, that when it was time for nighttime nurses, I’d have so much anxiety and was honestly afraid of who would show up. But my last two nights there were much better compared to the first two nights.
Kathy Taylor: I brought my husband to the ER, they took us right in and the nurses were great, when he was admitted to the ICU it was a totally different story, with the exception of his night nurse Tara and his comfort care nurse Kathy the rest of them were impatient and lacked empathy, if they were acting that way in front of me, I shudder to think of how they treated him when I had to leave, I generally have the utmost respect for nurses and I understand the dispute around ratio to patients, however in the ICU it is one patient per nurse, I know end of life is routine for these nurses, but it is not routine for me I have nightmares worrying about how he might have been treated in my absence, you really need to give them some empathy training
tyler wills: Had an Upper GI Endoscopy done on February 16th -23, this is just pushing 1 star at best. We overheard a staff - member say they were " Short Staffed " just as we entered. Which wasn't a comforting feeling being new to this facility. The reception , was kinda rude, to pretty much everyone. And while I was in for my procedure the receptionist had left for 45 + minutes and left my mom and there was nobody there to ask a questions/lack of concern with the patients or their families. While I was in just before my procedure ( " not the doctor " ) to be less than caring or professional, the IV (Joshua jabbed me so hard that I'd couldn't move,my arm heard for awhile, I'd ask he said it was normal. They said to put Heat on it while asking other people they said it wasn't normal to do that. Obviously is not well-skilled. The waiting area was less than clean no place to even get a drink, but there were plenty of water jugs on the floor just sitting there. As you can see in the picture ls there are strains on the carpet & the water jugs, for a hospital it sure have a much cleaner appearance. I've been to this hospital for other situations an have much better experience, this was sad to say the least. Tracy my nurse was absolutely horrible, she was Frightening and wouldn't let my mother come in, when I was so Sedated, or tell her how I was doing? Or let her come in to see me , then. Then Tracy called my mom & said I was ready then she Found out my ride wasn't here immediately then she said I wasn't ready. Then there was an additional 20 - 25 minutes before I was discharged, then Tracy said my driver was coming & That my mom wasn't there she was in the waiting room. They never even offered me a wheelchair ♿️ when I was so groggy and sedated that I could barely walk & hold my balance. They were uncaring. They didn't even have the department number they just looked like everyone was in a hurry to go home. They messed up my name on the doctor's note. Very sad 😔.Plan never to darken those doorways again I would I hope wouldn't have to.

Maria Rod: If you want to die go there. You do not get seen and they leave you in waiting room to DIE.What a mess?Board of Directors should all get fired for running a sub par medical center.Do no harm. Do nothing.

UMass Memorial Medical Center Emergency Room: what do users think?
chris A: If you have an emergent situation then you are better of dying than coming here. They will stick you in a hallway and perform all tests there. How can you not violate Hipa law when you talk about patients and there ailments in a public place like the hallway? The nurses here have the bedside manner of Gorden Ramsey. DO NOT COME HERE
Shemeyk Irizarry: I do believe that the ER processes needs to be updated or restructure. It's my first time here and it's just awful. All I hear in the ER are patients complaining of how long they are waiting. I'm currently in a lot of pain and have severe high blood pressure and I'm sitting in the lobby waiting...
David Novack (misterbig97): If I'm on the sidewalk bleeding to death, and this is my only ER option, please leave me on the ground. I've got a better chance of a doctor stumbling across me there than I do of ever getting a room with a competent person in this dump. Also, be sure to bring earplugs with you, because they have incredibly loud psyche patients in the same waiting room as everyone else and the staff don't care at all how much they disturb the people around them.
Eileen D: The medical care is very good, but what's point when you can never get in to see them? It would be better if they turned people away at the door, then at least you could go to another hospital instead of being left in the waiting room to die slowly.
Arden B.: The EMTs in the ambulance were incredibly kind and helpful in dealing with the stress of the situation, and I was taken into a room very quickly. The care was excellent in spite of the number of patients there, and followup care was easy to schedule. Overall a very good experience, and the scans taken in the ER helped me get the issue fixed long term (hopefully permanently)!
darine benchemam: No stars, I don't recommend it. I stayed for 14 hours in waiting room without seeing a doctor. Every time we to ask the receptionist for my turn she told me 4 patients before you for four hours the same answer. When I told her you lod me the same answers for four hours she told me I don't know what happened there. I left at 11 pm. I was there at 9am.
Joel Bienvenu: If I could leave a ZERO I would. The absolute worst care! Indifferent, rude and less than helpful staff. We’ve been here 11 hours, this is bordering on insane! We’ve been here all day with the SAME people, the incompetence is astounding.
Brett Sobkowich: Both major hospital ERs in Worcester are deplorable. The UMass ER was pathetic and unsympathetic to my condition.
K. D.: Couldn't believe what I was seeing. They have cubicles set up in the corner of the waiting room where they stick mental health patients. They were already in bracelets and scrubs so they weren't new arrivals. Stuck them in these cubicles after making the patients walk across a busy waiting room. Just awful humiliation for these people seeking mental health care. I understand rooms gets overflow but there's got to be some other way. I waited in waiting room for 2+hours while listening to one of these patients screaming they wanted to die, please let them die, just awful things my daughter and I had to listen to while waiting to be seen. Just breaks your heart. As for my care, check in nurses were so nice and kind. But when I got taken back to a room they were awful. Despite having not been to an emergency room in 8+ years I was still treated as if I fabricated falling on ice and was just there seeking pain medicine. Brutal in the way I was talked to especially when I wasn't even asking for pain medicine. X-rays were fast when I did finally get to a room. I hope they can do better for these mental health patients, if I ever was having suicidal thoughts no way I'd want to be treated like that- they deserve PRIVACY and compassion. One patient is suicidal and he's roomed with another patient screaming they want to die- just awful.
Chris Hanson: UMASS Memorial Hospital Worcester is the worst Hospital I have ever dealt with. I would die before being sent to Umass.
Kerry Reitz: Worst ER ever. Still here after 11 hours with no answers to when I will be seen
Tim Tobin: Longest wait of my life. These guys are ridiculous….go somewhere else…
Collin Sweeney: They literally mocked me and told me I didn't belong there
bryan melanson: Give Jo-Ann a raise. This nurse here in the emergency room is very efficient, friendly and courteous. I don't know how any of them do it. This is a very busy place and you need to have patience but they're doing the best that they can.
mahal alvarez-backus: DO NOT GO HERE. I wish I could give a negative or zero star rating. They left my father on the LITERAL floor of the ED during a tripledemic. They didn't even put a blanket down. He was left to lay on the floor for 5 HOURS. Inhumane and disgusting. Did not listen to our concerns at all. EXTREMELY RUDE STAFF.
Kimberlee Comeau: If I could leave a 0 I would. My mother came in by ambulance, was told she was next in line also told not to bring her meds or insulin as she s get those here, I get here at 11 and she hasn’t been seen, hasn’t been given meds or insulin, hasn’t been fed, has a head injury and hasn’t been helped to the bathroom (thank goodness I brought a change of clothes). I ve called patient advocates, social work, my sister has called legal and a single person hasn’t returned our calls. I finally nagged enough to get blood sugar taken and fed. The only even remotely nice thing I can say is the person at the help desk in the pavilion. Still here waiting for now 16 hours, no meds no monitoring her head injury just her vitals. Still here 19 hours later, still not seen
Edualyn Lopez: I’ve been here for 9 hours still haven’t been seen this is ridiculous they need to do better this is totally insane
Azizkhon Dustmuradov: My wife and i came for emergency and my wife condition was critical she was literally coud not abe to breath her chest was on pain she was mot suffering from flue or and simple illness. Her condition was so critical serious.we have waited on waiting room more than 3 hours when i came started hey she is in bad conditions she is not feeling well . Their response was please wait until someone gets available when i said what if she is gonna die they said just waitAnd front desk was so rude . It was my such bad bad bad experience at this hospital they don't care about what is your condition. When i got pised off they sarted to we don't know just wait . If it was on my hand i would ask all medical academies to check thieir prosedurs amd see how they work woth patients .Once i get their names i will provide with name as well .The way how they talk it was so so so so so so so disrespectful.
Barbara Dennis: Went in on Friday morning. Not crowded. Shift change so we waited. I expected the wait but I did not expect to be brushed off. I went in with severe leg pain, unlike any I have experienced. Background I am an endurance athlete, I do long distance triathlon.I know what it feels like to be sore after a workout, I explained I had gone for a 5 mile training run the day before, and the next day I could hardly walk due to pain in my leg. One of the nurses in a very condescending voice says to me, “ oh you went for a 5k and are a little sore today” like I was a toddler, no dear that is not what happened. It was not a little 5k that’s a warm up run, Listen and I’ll tell you again, I may be 65 but I can out run, out swim, out bike you any day and I’m not a little sore I am in excruciating pain and if she couldn’t see that by my body language and facial expression then she is in the wrong business, When the Dr came in I felt the same way, he saw an older woman who went for a run and now her leg hurts. Brushed me off said I’d be ok and that’s it. Nothing for my pain, no follow up. Waste of time and money, went to my PT later that day, and got better care, a more sympathetic staff and went home with some exercise to do to ease the pain. Worst care I ever received was at this Emergency Room. Stay away.
Katy Grant: On a super busy night, I took my two-year-old nephew here. Everyone was professional, friendly and patient. We were in and out in 2.5 hours (which included an xray). There were several challenging situations going on and the staff handled them with grace and respect. For an emergency room experience, this was as good as it gets. Well done team - and thank you!
Keith Trudell: My father just transferred to a different hospital as I write this, he fell and broke his hip, he has been laying on a cot FOR 3 DAYS in the E.R in the hallway, not even in a room, once more FOR 3 DAYS!! absolutely ridicoulous, they dont even deserve 1 star and they expect him just to lay there for another day and when tomorrow comes they will most likely just tell him "oh it will be another day, your surgery has been postponed...AGAIN, hey why not? They already did it to him 3 times why stop now?

Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital: what do users think?
Rhonda Latney: I was illegally confined at the hospital to cover up the elder abuse, frauds and scams of James Voltz in Springfield MA, Special Victims Unit, District Attorney's Office, and corrupt Judges.
Donna Hagopian: A total nightmare.
sophie mitchell: Most traumatic experience of my entire life. So much psychical violence occurred between patients. Staff does a poor job keeping us safe from threats but I imagine they are severely numb and traumatized from working on that unit as well.
Kayla R: Negligent and abusive - will pump your loved ones full of medications until you barely recognize them. They are fed prison food and patients suffer from allergic reactions when they're served food that's deadly to them.
Andrew Soske: I think it must be going on ten years since I was at Worcester State Hospital. I didn’t have a good time and do not remember much of the experience though the shock and awe campaign and culture they have and create for their clients can leave you ( later on down the road ) in a better place than you might have otherwise been.I cannot help, however, recalling Ivan Illich’s words, “That the true nature of medicine is diabolical in that it makes entire populations survive on inhumanely low levels of health.”Frankly, though, you could find the same in any oncology ward, ward for MS, ALS, dementia, Parkinson’s, dialysis, and on and on. Serious illness and having severe symptoms require treatment and sometimes ( I am sure ) it is hard to know what to do.Good luck!
Pamela Bouchard Clark: I went there to visit a family member staff was very kind informative too
James Hall: Terrible management, lack of safety for workers. Don’t work there.
King Dallas: Everything here is terrible! The staff here aren't even that good and the food here is awful!
Julie Gragg: I visited a patient and the staff is not only mean to him but to me as well. Very unprofessional and I have no idea how people with no heart are allowed to care for people who are already going through such a difficult time. Stay away from Sarah on Unit B4 if you have to go there at all!
Gaby Altamore: One of the worst hospital experiences of my life. I stayed on one of the adolescent units and it was awful. Neglectful and borderline emotionally abusive staff. Super unprofessional too. I would hear them gossiping about clients, one showed me a video on their phone which shouldn’t have even been out, of them vaping with another staff. One took calls for other jobs while watching the kids during his shift. The staff were also very invalidating and cold at times. Client atmosphere was just as bad, I was bullied a lot and the staff didn’t do much. Lots of gossiping and talking bad about one another, constant threats to hurt one another, it always felt very hostile. The tension on the unit was often so thick you could cut through it. Overall a horrible place for any mentally ill kid to stay, let alone if you’re trying to heal. The atmosphere is very detrimental to recovery.
Wes Walsh: Almost died of anorexia here. As punishment for not eating my doctors refused to let me see my therapist, put me on a one-to-one watch, and restricted me to my room for three straight months. I was sent out to the UMass Memorial ER so many times for fainting or dehydration UMass finally admitted me for refeeding when I had a BMI of 11. The staff are indifferent at best, cruel at worst. Two separate patients hit me while I was here but you can't really blame them since they were psychotic and not receiving any care. It's a glorified prison masquerading as a "recovery center" because most of its patients are too ill to be taken seriously. Do anything you can to prevent a loved one from getting committed here.
Holly Davenport: Its bad cause there's no telling if nurse will infect you with disease till after damage is done
Lauren L: Please call before you go!Visits must now be scheduled in advance. Restrictions on allowed items has become fanatical and the culture of the administration is just weird. Unfriendly and paranoid. If your loved one is in a psych hospital you already have enough problems. Employees should treat loved ones well. You are a team. I hope they get their heads out of their...
Crystal Chartier: 3 months agoFood isnt the greatest. Most staff are nice minus the few waiting to attack. Beds are not comfy. Showers suck.
Mathew Nalepinski: The staff is very unfamiliar with the term recovery... The staff is rude.. impatient... Not very helpful with anyone's concerns but their own. Sucks they blow all this money to make a nice center and then staff it with people that arent built for the job.
Rahjah Brooker: hi i'm rahjah when i was here people treated me badly. they hurt me.and gave me shots for no reason.
William Monteiro: Visit on snow
Veronica Melanson: Recovery nothing it is a huge lie people stay there longer than they should ,you'll have years trap in a jail place with limited time to the courtyard over medicated on 10 pills + a monthly injection they will force the medication on you they will force a rogers order on you sleeping on benches and making the kiosk rich you will be out of there a million times worse than when you first arrived they don't care about your side effects and difficulty breathing your daily vomiting . Don't hide this post tell people the truth the pharmaceutical have a perpetual customer that gets muchworse with the medication to no return I will close this horrible hospital money makers scammers of the state abusers murders you think people want to be in SSI disability for the rest of their life? stop creating dependency on medications that never worked.
Matt Blake: This place is a really nice hospital. The units are huge, the patients can roam around freely in the units and downstairs to the "Downtown" common area. Granted everyone in the area are talking to themselves and extremely sedated and to get anywhere you walk through about five locked doors, the care is really good. If your loved ones can't function on the outside they are safe in this place. Also the nurse that escorted me out of the unit and building (B3) was very nice and she was good looking as hell lol. Obviously no one wants to get sent to such a secure building but if your going to spend a few years/forever there, you'll be taken care of if you can't function in the real world. Only complaint I have was the women answering the phones seemed so burnt out from probably always repeating herself.
Lost_Places _Global: How cruel of the government to destroy most of these historical buildings.
Kevin McNamara: They saved my wife after going through every other terrible facility in the system. Thank God for them

UMass Memorial Medical Center - Children's Medical Center: what do users think?
Edward Jose Herrera: Worst ER in Massachusetts !! Rude Nurses, Resident MD and ignoring you like you don't exist at all. Extremely overcrowded ER !! No safety at all.
Mike Morcone: Hospital itself is good, but the er specifically is terrible. I understand it must be a nightmare to manage things on the fly like that. I was in the pediatric section and honestly there’s only maybe 8 kids total. It was two hours before they even called in the first kid. With adults it’s one thing, but when you’re with a young child and expected to sit for 5-8 hours just to be seen…. Honestly it’s completely unacceptable. You get there and they tell you it will not be a “bad wait”. Then pretty much nothing happens. Honestly if you’re borderline at night it’s not even worth coming here. Just let everyone get sleep and do a walk in the following morning. If your child needs help fast that will basically never happen here.
Arthur Barreto: Came here with my girlfriend for her severe chest pain mainly in her breast, all they could say was to give her Advil and there’s nothing we can do. Wasted about 5 hours, a hospital full of women yet they can’t help another women.
Sophie Uknavage: I dont know how I'm supposed to feel about this hospital, particularly the Cancer building.. my mom was diagnosed with cancer the 3rd time by a UMass Dr, that same doctor delivered the news to her that they would b stopping all cancer treatments and that her cancer was no longer curable and it was now terminal.. fine, ok, but don't u dare deliver that news to her when she is alone in a hospital room, u wait till family arrives!
Quan Lee: Filthy. Bad service. If you treasure your life, DO NOT GO HERE!!!!Would give zero stars but no option.
Grayson Coleman: Former employee....travelers beware; they push this whole good place to give and receive care but it couldn't be further from the truth for both. 5E was a junky cluttered and dirty unit that was inadequately ran.
Donna Brushway: Overall a good experience. My mother had a minor stroke we were in the ER about 18 hours then downstairs at the CDU for a couple days and on floor seven for a few days. Everyone we dealt with was pleasant.
Mariam Kutuusa: I want to say a big THANK you to all the staff on THE 7th floor especially, after a month on that floor I can say I got another family there.Nurses Andrea,Nicola,Natalie,Nick,Tony and many others were wonderful (I ALWAYS got my medication on time and they thought of a solution to my pain to make me feel better during my worst times and THE CNAs I had were angels especially Elizabeth,Akua and those I have forgotten the names for always being willing to help BUT most of all for the humor and taking time to talk to you.The specialist doctors THAT had to figure out what was wrong with my organs, the Surgeons THANK YOU.I AM STILL ALIVE coz of everyone's care at UMass again I thank EVERYONE ON THE 7th floor who helped me
Bad Company: Emergency department pediatric waiting room is filled with sick adults sleeping across benches with blankets! One of the nurses swabbed two of them after saying “You didn’t get swabbed yesterday” while me and my 12 yr old daughter who was is extreme pain had to stand by the door after realizing one of them was literally master bating and all the ER nurses told us they didn’t know what the people were doing there! I wish I read the reviews before coming. I’m still in the room waiting and it’s 4:30 am. I’m going to add pictures on my way out.*Update*After all of my complaints they moved a majority of them from pediatric before I could take pictures. I also heard one of the nurses say to the other we will have to call the police there are no security around. Two police trucks were parked out front but no security to be seen! I’ve never been treated so poorly at a hospital in my life never mind in pediatric. Everyone in the emergency room should be ashamed of themselves. One of the most ignorant male doctors I’ve ever seen. I had to ask my daughter if she felt comfortable or if she thought we should leave and she thought we should leave we ended up having to walk out. She's in pain and didn't trust the doctor and his response was ok leave 😡😡😡
Astry Cruz: The worst hospital I ever been.. people so mean . They don’t even let you use a bathroom it’s totally unprofessional
『 Froggy Kitti 』: Dr is good, but some of he nurses made me really sad and uncomfortable.
Andrew Wells: My dad was given the time for his procedure less than 24 hour before the start time. In no other field would this be allowed.
trisha harden: Worse er ever worse doctor's took my 6 year for her asthma waited 9 hours place is dirty bathroom is so dirty and we all was also complaining they had a baby with no mask with rsv around every other kid and made that baby wait 9 hours so we finally get called and the room was cold dirty no blankets and she says well she seems good how you know that she was sleep check her lungs once gave her breathing treating said u can go remind you she has oxygen was 90 all day my doctor told me go there .. The doctor's very rude got no answers I really wish can call someone on them worst hospital er I wouldn't bring my cat there all kids running that place ..
Jasmine Torres: The wait time is unreal. They can’t even provide estimates. The pedi ER is too small. I avoided an ambulance to come in with a trauma, obvious unilateral bone anatomy disfigurement and sent from ready med for X-rays. Worst lack of experience possible. The ER area is filthy. Where is EBS? Diarrhea and vomiting in the bathrooms. Going somewhere else. Boston, checking wait times before going. If you urgently sick idk what to tell you. If you can wait. Call the PCP Monday and schedule a specialist.
Alex Kapulka: Nurses were nice but wait time for adults24 to 30 hours not a very good er service someone could be dead in that time frame
Lucinda Swartz: Two weeks ago we came in with our 13 month old baby. We were send there from Urgent care cause our baby had RSV and urgent care called ahead and send all the baby work so we didn’t have to wait in line. I went up to the window and explained to the lady with purple and pink hair and told her our that is hard for our baby to breath and she told me to go stand in the back of the line so they can register us and make sure we have insurance there was about 8 people infront of us we left and went to St Vince’s I don’t even want to imagine what could’ve happened if we stayed and waited people like that shouldn’t work in health care!!!!
Paul Bissonnette: Great staff all aroundThank youPaul
Sheila Martin: We started taking our son there over 10 years ago to Pediatric Nephrology department and the staff there couldn't be kinder or more professional. We usually have to visit radiology before the doctor visit and even on their busy days they are always friendly and very patient with my son's millions of questions and inability to stay still during his ultrasound.
Salinas T: Let’s see came into emergency room for chest pains, the security bypass me and let 2 people ahead of me with out asking why I was there!! Than I waited hours and hours. The ER was full of trash, the only one nice was the triage nurse other than that everyone no empathy what’s so ever. Not to mention dirty trash all around, packed with people Coughing all around. The worse hospital ever not even in NY!! They told me the longest wait as of now is 17 hours in ER!!! Like how is this the biggest hospital in Massachusetts with worse service ???
Courtney J: Abby in the UMASS billing department is the most passive aggressive person I have ever dealt with. She constantly spoke over me and was extremely condescending. The hospital was absolutely wonderful when it came to dealing with the nurses and doctors, but the billing department needs much improvement.
Lucy Chen: Get the best care here, forever grateful to the medical staff.
