The front desk, whether you're calling to schedule a routine appointment or in the case of a sick pet, is compassionate and kind. They relay messages promptly and try to do their best to get your pet seen as soon as they can.The vet techs and vet assistants are great! I have a spicy old lady kitty who is always handled with respect and care, she has mellowed in her old age but I think she knows that she is safe with the staff. My two other cats are well loved and doted on when they come into the office, especially since Simon is a heartbreaker (and a shameless flirt) and Jazz is always super shy.Dr. Taddei is an amazing veterinarian, having no qualms about fielding worried phone calls (I really try not to be a helicopter!) and is at the top of her game when it comes to medicine and treating her patients. She's kind and caring, taking the time to come up with plans for treatment and doesn't judge if an owner doesn't have the monetary means to go above and beyond.Any and all interactions with the staff here have been fantastic. Pricing is reasonable and I know I'm paying for quality care. As a former veterinary assistant years ago, I know the effort and time that the veterinary personnel put into their passion and Westside Animal Clinic is worth every cent.If you are in need of quality and compassionate treatment for your pets, look no further than this veterinary clinic!

Said they changed the rabies vaccine, because the other they were giving caused cancer .That is what my last cat had. I paid to kill my cat.??? One year shot very little side affects. Three year shot more side affects. I was scared. Got one year shot. She was not herself a few days . I worried.They try to push the insurance on you. My cat goes for rabies once a year . I cut her nails. Previous owners of this business ,said if my cat is ok. And no problems, she does not need to come every year unless shots are needed. She is an indoor cat.I live on a fixed income. And this place has jacked up prices way too high. In this economy, people struggle. And pets bring a sense of peace and companionship.I call it price gauging. It is to the point seniors cannot afford to have a pet companion.No need to overprice services. Seniors need a break.

Diane Clowes: My dog Walter just had oral surgery with Dr. Kawai. She was very attentive to his special needs during anesthesia & followed up with me afterwards to make sure he was doing well. This meant the world to me….it shows how much she cares!My other senior dog, who has had a lot of issues lately, sees Dr. Taddei, she has been so great with helping us manage her issues and making plans going forward. They are both wonderful and I’m so happy to have them in my corner when it comes to caring for my pets! Thank you so much to ALL of westside staff and doctors!

Omea: A good veterinary clinic 1) will misread a urine test as being "clean" if it comes back with protein and 2) diagnose a loving pet who is suddenly urinarily incontinent with said test results as senile, 3) further telling the pet's parent that "euthanasia is not an inappropriate discussion" - SAYS NO ONE. As our poor pup's symptoms advanced, we sought a 2nd opinion which correctly found a bladder infection so severe it appearead to the new vet as a snowglobe. Had West Side had paired the dogs sudden onset presentation with lab results correctly and available ultra sound equipment and staff to administer the testing, maybe they'd know better, but they expected us to wait for several weeks until their roving ultrasound partner arrived to do testing. It was also determined at the 2nd opinion that our baby was FAR from senile. Bringing these findings to West Side, I agreed to allow them to administer the meds for this condition on agreement of never allowing the vet who botched the dx and treatment to touch my pets again and that the first post-treatment urinalysis would be on the house, to which the leadership agreed. Three weeks later, they're looking to charge over $300 to my card for the test, stating it was a different type of urinalysis they were planning and that I understood it - more nonsense. I will also state that their quote for their roving ultrasound practice was significantly higher than what I paid at the 2nd opinion. This 30-year client (former competent owners sold West Side recently) will never return to allow the practice to further lie and mistreat our furbabies. If you love your pets and value a skilled and honest provider, think twice about seeking services at West Side
Agnes Ofghod: Great place. We've lived all over this country & have brought our pets many places & can honestly say that Westside is one of the best (if not THE best). The docs and especially the techs took the time to get to know us and our fur kids, in order to give us solid advice. Prices aren't bad, either. Highly recommended!

Canary Ly: These guys are excellent. Not only are they Covid-conscious while caring for your beloved fur-children, but great communicators with everything they do and always including you in the care. My sweet Calliope was very well taken care of by Dr. Vincent, and then when I had to say goodbye today, Dr. Palermo and Amy (and someone else I’m sorry I can’t remember your name) were so understanding and helpful with the whole process and allowed us to be there. I know Calli was comfortable the entire time. Thank you everyone.
Jackson Barnes: These people are so ignorant that they almost killed my dog. They failed to diagnose my dog properly when he had diabetes for a year. It took us to do our own research on the internet to find out the symptoms point to diabetes. Then our dog went into a catatonic state. West side told us our dog was drinking copious amounts of water and peeing for 5 minutes straight “just because it’s hot out and he’s just tired”. We were told his foot irritation was completely normal and just to “Leave it alone”-Westside animal clinic. I wouldn’t take my pet here if it was the last thing I do.

Jay Leif: I've been bringing my dog here for a little over a year, and have had a great experience at VCA Abbott. They have a wide range of hours, so I was able to get my dog in for an appointment the same day, after I got off work. It is a bit pricey but I don't find it to be out-of-line with what other vets cost. They've been upfront with me about pricing and stick with what I've been quoted.

Sarah Dirienzo: Came for my first visit today, very pleased with the staff at VCA. My cat needs an echocardiogram and VCA is the only local vet with any sort of cardiology department. I came in for our initial exam today and got my cat on their waitlist. The doctor was great with my cat, did a very thorough exam, and gave the most thorough answers to my questions any vet has ever given me, which I really appreciated. They also gave thorough price estimates on the echo and future dental work. The only reason I wouldn't come back is the pricing, and also the size; the smaller clinics stress my cat out less and charge less. But VCA offers extensive services and an urgent care so I'm glad my senior kitty is officially a patient there.

Timothy k: The staff has been really friendly and wonderful with my dog, their care club program has made it easier to deal with the cost by breaking it up into reasonable monthly payments which covers everything my dog needs for the year. I'm thankful to have them available when I need, they've addressed my concerns and got me in for an appointment asap (the next morning) when I thought my dog was having a real issue. They also set me up for monthly flea, tick and heartworm prevention which is delivered to me. Thanks from me and my dog!

Jen Bark: Our last visit reminded me of why I stopped using this clinic over a year before. I called to enquire about a dental promotion and confirmed pricing on 3 different occasions. Everything was set for the two months leading up to the appointment until after the quick peak in the dog's mouth. Despite the email my partner had with prices in writing, they charged the card nearly double the amount and provided no invoice at check-out. When I called, they claimed they didn't have the forms for the discounted pricing (yet I couldn't set the appointment until they had that paperwork) and I told them I emailed it months before, they changed their story to the "latest" forms. I was told I just needed to complete the revised form to get the pricing, which I did, & was told in an email they'd reach out for a refund. This never happened and now they're saying 2 months after the fact, I suddenly don't qualify and they're reneging on the refund. Games, bait and switch, disorganization, incredibly rude employees (Mandy O'Rorke), lies and too many broken promises to count. Pay attention to the multiple negative reviews here and elsewere and save yourself the headache. This is not a reputable organization!
Miss Maja Danae: If getting a surgery and you have pet insurance be very aware to get an itemized bill (or statement stating why that will not be provided) as insurance may not cover costs. I had to submit an appeal with the help of the manager (specifically ask for a manager because the help will not be offered to you by the front desk). It took 90 days for reimbursement because of this. Finally resolved from January.

There is a wait time due to their very reasonable discounted cost being in high demand!A) I filled out the simple online form (my contact info & my dogs info) requesting to sched. an appointmentB) They called me about 3 weeks later to schedule him, choosing from the next dates available (which were 3-4 weeks out)C) Appointment day went smoothly a.m. drop off & afternoon pickup.Very accommodating,.. small additional services can be added: nails, chip, vaccines, etc,.Before pickup they show instructional video about aftercare & provide 3 days medication and a party hat.***His incision is healing nicely (its been 2 weeks today)Overall very pleased with everything & would highly recommend to anyone looking for very reasonably priced neuter or spay!! 👍👍

I was told to come in and do shots anytime because they FORGOT to do them at my appointment, then they tell me they can’t get me in until March. They are rude. Also had to get my X-rays and they won’t give them to me without approval! What is that???? They told me to go to another vet clinic because they couldn’t do the surgery. Which is fine but now why the red tape! Now I have to get the runaround from a poorly run office! It has been nothing but bad experiences here!!!
Sue Blake: until December for an appt. Foe my dog to have a pre neuter check up. I live in Rockport, MA which is an hour and a half away. I left at 2pm for a 430 appt. I also had to leave a funeral early to leave at that time.When I left Rockport, the trip was 1.5 hours on google maps. As I drove closer to Worcester, the travel time kept increasing because of the commuter traffic. Soon the estimated time was 2 hours and 15 minutes. I kept going and was getting off the exit. I went to call the office, and they were calling me. It was 4:25 and they said I was late for a 4:20 appt. And that because the Doctor would have been half way through the appt.? (10 minute appt. ????

Got my cat fixed they did a good job and my cat didn't seem traumatized after the visit. The only reason I didn't give 5 star. I wasn't a fan of the pick up procedure. They schedule everyone to pick up at same time in order to watch a safety video. I felt unnecessary. And the trans person at the counter was a little rude like chill dude or you can be treated like a man.

We had a family vet for years, but after he retired we've been circling the chains and larger clinics and always left cared for but unimpressed and overcharged.Found route 20 off google, and am very thankful to them. Amazing customer care, thoughtful service, and educates you on your animals in a non-condescending way.Our last visit was for our youngest to be neutered. Cleanest incision and wound area I've seen from a procedure. Great after care, and easy to call. As a plus to the owners, very reasonable pricing.

Sheera Gandolfo: My kitten was sick on a Friday night so I called rt 20 where she had gone for her shots and other care. They fit me in on Sat and Dr Nick was kind and honest telling me she may have a blockage and need emergency care later in the day. He gave her iv fluids and nausea meds and special food to see if she could eat. He also gave me his number to text him if I had questions after hours. I appreciated that so much! I did indeed have questions when she seemed in pain. He got right back to me. She didn't end up needed emergency care thankfully, next morning she was eating a bit and feeling better. Also Dr Nick texted me Sunday morning to get an update on Willow. Thanks to his help on Saturday and caring advice we got her through a very bad night that could have been so much worse. Thank you Dr Nick and staff at RT 20 animal clinic!

When all the other vets are still operating "curbside" - which doesn't work if you have a hyper-anxious pet that stays calm with the owner, Route 20 Animal Clinic was able to work with us so I didn't have to sedate my cat to be seen. Catherine Duffy: I have tried a few vets since coming here from Ireland 18 years ago, and I have to say Dr. Nick Kotsopoulos is absolutely wonderful.I have always had my own animals, rescue dogs and I also have a dog daycare/boarding business. Dr Nick has always seen me asap, compared to the owner's own vets,who could leave me waiting for two or three days for an appointment.I was very fortunate to find such a great vet.His staff have always been professional, sympathetic and v helpful.I hope he will be around for many more years.
Michael Lai: This is the last place you want to go to for animal care. They took very long to diagnose my cat, and charged us $60, after doing completely nothing. Then blamed us for not taking my cat elsewhere. In a time of sadness, they were raising their voice and trying to justify why we should be charged. Take your pet here if you dont love them.

My Bully had recently been diagnosed with Chronic Kidney disease to say it's devastating is an understatement ! The timing was even worse Meds and visits are quite expensive Nick was accommodating as always with breaking down meds weekly for us as to not have to pay so much at once . And everytime I call no matter how many times He ALWAYS returns our calls at the end of his busy day ! Great place, great care, great people . Highly reccomended

Sarah Dirienzo: Karuna is a smaller vet clinic still building their clientele so it's a great place to call if you need an urgent (but non-emergent) visit as they have next day appointments. My senior cat was experiencing some concerning constipation and they fit me in the next day and provided affordable treatment including fluids and an x-ray. Because it's a small clinic they have a friendly atmosphere and it's quiet which is great for nervous pets. They respond to emails quickly and their pricing is good.. My only qualm is that the medical advice I've received isn't always the most thorough or clear.

I’m currently two months in on calling them daily to get my cats medical records sent to a new vet, and when I finally talk to someone this morning at 8:15 they said ofc we will send them right over it’s currently 12:02 and they haven’t sent them over I’ve tried calling all morning leaving several messages with no response not only is this the most unprofessional place they are rude on the phone when you finally do get a hold of them. I will literally never send any animal this way again. Be it my own kitty or someone else looking for a vet. If I could rate lower I would.

andy briand: I had my 1 year old dog neutered here and Tufts at tech asked me multiple times to make them the regular care provider for both of my dogs. We showed up early for the first routine exam appointment (appointment was at 11am). After 3 hour, neither dog had been seen. We ultimately decided to leave as the school let out and started to get the dogs worked up. Tufts at tech has now called the day before a neuter appointment and canceled the appointment with nothing but excuses. I can not enough how much I would NOT recommend this establishment for the care of a loved pet. They are extremely unprofessional and even more disorganized.

Easy to see, go left at the sign past the entrance to the school, and parking is on the left, clinic has a walk up window to check in on the right.Overall good experience despite having to wait outside. Oh, and there are porta-potties to use if you have to. 😊😻

Linda Budzynski: The worst customer service I have ever seen. I have been trying to get my dog's nails clipped for about a month and I just gave up on the place. Before I used to be able to walk in with my dog and it would be taken care of within 20 minutes. For two weeks I called to make an appointment and the call always went straight to voicemail (which they never got back to me). I physically walked in the store with my dog and the woman at the front desk took 10 minutes to come to the desk just to roll her eyes, sigh, and tell me that she doesn't have time for me today and to call. I tried to tell her that I have on multiple occasions but she walked away from me. I suggest if you do not want to waste your time with rude people to just not bother with this facility.

We made an appointment to try Webster Sq animal clinic. WOW! The place isn't fancy at all. However, what is lacking is looks is made up with love & care. The staff really cares about the animals they see. They're willing to take the time to comfort our animals and explain things to us. Your pets will thank you for taking them here!

Antoila80: One has to be mindful reading some of these reviews - sometimes people write wild stories after an emotionally charged encounter or event. I'm so happy we found this Clinic.We thought we found a great Vet in Shrewsbury for our kitten. She has a specific problem & the solution we got from that Vet at the pet store wasn't working. Knowing we needed a cat specialist, I searched and found this Clinic right in Worcester.We went from great to excellent. Our new Vet is extremely thorough - the process of dropping off your pet sounds scary but it's like dropping your child off in school trusting the teachers will look after them.We think it's great that they were able to observe her without us hovering around, as it probably affects the way our kitten would've behaved, and they can complete testing without as having to return with any type of sample. We dropped her off at 9:30AM and picked her up at about 3:00PM. We got a phone call shortly before the pickup letting us know exactly what they found and what we need to do for our kitten's problem. We also received a folder with specific information on her prescription and diet.We paid what we expected for the level of care that we received. Please don't let the reviews scare you - Worcester Cat Hospital & Bird Clinic is the best of the best right in our community!P.S. We were greeted by a very distinguished grey cat that came from the back office, slowly sauntering around like a concierge. He elegantly meowed his "Hello" and purposefully walked back. On our return, she was sleeping peacefully at the window, having completed her morning welcoming task. Enzo made our visit memorable and calming :o)

The doctor followed up with a phone call and was very thorough about both the exam and the right nutrition for my cat. She explained the difference between a lot of the brands available for pet food, and I now feel much more informed about what is appropriate for my cat. Upon pickup, I was given lots of helpful (and again thorough) information on how to maintain and aide my cat’s health, including things I had never known about (like brushing her teeth).I am so, so happy that she was so well cared for, and I am glad that we found her a regular doctor in our new hometown :) Thank you so much from me and Navi!

Mr. Thomas: Tom and his staff at The Worcester Cat and Bird Hospital are incredible! I've taken my African Grey there for years and I always feel like my bird was well cared for. Tom and Nancy are both a wealth of knowledge and always give me the best advice when it comes to my bird! They pay attention to the small details as well, so you never leave an appointment uninformed. Plus, they have the coolest shop cat, Enzo!!
Beth-Ann Marchese: My mother was looking for an avian vet for her young-ish Conure bird. She got a reference to this organization. When she called to start the process of having her pet become a patient, the person answering the phone asked if my mother was an existing customer. When she said no, the person on the other end cut her off and said, "Well we can't help you," and HUNG UP THE PHONE. Without asking questions. Without even saying good-bye. Not a word. Just a snide "we can't help you" and hanging up the phone. Rude. Unprofessional. If you're booked or you're not taking new patients, that's fine. Just say so. If you really want to be professional, maybe provide a reference to another vet so at least a sweet bird can get medical attention beyond a generalist vet and groomers. So thanks for nothing. Jerks.
Cristaliz Arroyo: Everyone was very welcoming and knowledgeable. They were very thorough and timely. It was difficult to know about the physical space (since they are still only having pet drop off and pick up). Also, they were able to speak to my bf and I about our pet separately and together. They were not up front with what everything cost, but with everything that was done, the process weren't too bad. I just wished they had told us, beforehand, a rough estimate of what everything cost or asked if it was alright to do EVERYTHING necessary for Lenny. Overall, or experience was very good!

Highly recommended.Updated to add: several years later my cat is back for an overnight on something more serious. They give incredible personal attention and check on the animals during the weekend. They even take the animals out of the cage if they are in distress. The follow-up was great. The written instructions are so clear. Dr. O'Leary doesn't take chances and is thorough, but at the same time presents all your options from the most conservative to the most aggressive. They always ask before charging you or conducting procedures that are costly. Outstanding.

Lindsey Magan: I highly recommend In Home Euthanasia of MA & RI. It was a sad experience but Dr. Maxfield is wonderful.One of our fur babies, Minnie, was diagnosed with cancer at an emergency vet on a Thursday and went rapidly downhill. By Friday she seemed weak and tired, her remaining fight was dwindling. I called multiple vet clinics and traveling veterinarians and was met with no available appointments. It seemed we would have to wait until Monday to bring our ailing baby to her regular vet. Even though I am not in her typical call area, Dr. Maxfield was willing to travel the next day to help us say goodbye to our kitty at home with no questions asked.She absolutely is an animal lover as all three of our cats took to her when she arrived in our home. She spoke to us about all of our pets, and told us about hers. Discussing their histories and quirks, it was like chatting with a friend.She spoke to us about our pet's condition and then the procedure as far as what to expect from start to end and allowed us to ask questions. She even examined her for a new cancer symptom that we had discovered that morning, a blocked lymph node that was causing rapid swelling in our cat's hind leg which helped us realize further that we were making the most humane decision.When the time came it was a peaceful transition for us, Minnie, and our other pets that were in the home spectating. Dr. Maxfield was calming and helped us be at ease. She let us take all of the time that we needed to see our friend over the rainbow bridge. This type of service is something that undoubtedly made a difference for our pet, who would have been terrified and stressed in her last moments if we had traditionally taken her to her regular vet clinic. It's a hard job, but you'll be glad that you had this kind and compassionate woman willing to do it.
Anthony Ball: Dr. Maxfield reduced a sad day to the least possible sadness. In home euthanasia was a totally different experience to at the vet clinic. I honestly don't know how to describe how much better it was to have someone come to the house. It changed the whole feel of it.

Her presence allowed our boy to cross the rainbow bridge at home on his mom's lap after a lot of suffering and pain, rather than on a cold metal table at the vets office. We can't thank her enough for the service she provides and for fitting us in to her schedule on short notice. I would emphatically recommend her service to anybody in the terrible position of having to say goodbye to their pet.

Oakley passed away very peacefully in the comfort of our home. My heart is shattered, but I find comfort in knowing Oakley is at peace now. Having experienced the loss of a pet both at the veterinary office and now again at home, I would strongly encourage anyone facing the difficult decision to consider at home and with Dr. Maxfield. It was a peaceful, low stress experience for my pet and allowed me to be in the comfort of my home during such an upsetting time. She explains everything thoroughly and gives you and your pet all the time you need during the process. She also takes care of facilitating the cremation should you choose that. I really appreciated her kindness.
Rebecca Marinaro: This decision was one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make. My dog Romeo had chronic skin infections for over 9 months - pills, topicals, injections, chlorhex baths, ear drops and prescription food didnt seem to be helping. He would scratch all day, so much that he scratched a piece of his ear off. he had liver failure and potentially cushings.. I started to look for online euthanasia services as Romeo was extremely anxious at the vet. Dr. Maxfield was professional and assured me that I wasn't hurting him but rather giving him a gift of comfort and peace. After having Romeo from 6 weeks of age to 11.5 years, I will miss him everyday but find comfort in knowing that Dr Maxfield helped lead him to the rainbow bridge. She did not make me feel rushed. I cant thank her enough.

katie: Dr. Maxfield has help with multiple pets and has made a hard difficult process so amazing and peaceful. We never have easy animals and she is fabulous with respecting them and giving them the space they may need. She is so compassionate to us and will talk you through it. She is a blessing and so grateful to have her by our pets side while we say good bye.
Kristina Clark: My experience with Dr. Maxfield was so pleasant, under the circumstances. I, Unfortunately could not leave my house and she was the only Doctor that responded to my email. She was professional, kind, and gave us all the time we needed to say goodbye to our cat.
