Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine: what do users think?
Cindy Grimes: Stress. And, they're like rock stars (glamorous). They can be rough. Then, they shun you, like it's your fault.Don't confide in them (they'll use it against you).Very hard to contact by phone. And they 'never' close, for bad weather."We'll still be here", if you want to cancel. They're ignorant and prejudiced about mental health issues (again, will use that against you). It's all about them (they're safe as kittens - coddled, adored). Not accountable. You need a good supervisor to save you, if you're in trouble with them.I have yet to see, if they will deal with a problem I have.I'm not 'cool' enough to go here (as a patient). They're picky. It is a glamorous school.
Dariel Núñez: Fui a una cita y me dejaron esperando alrededor de 4 horas desde la 10.30 de la mañana y me atendieron después de las 2 de la tarde.
Zarina Velez Oliveira: I had a root canal in this clinic about 6 days ago. This has been the worst experience : as "poor" person using Masshealth , I can't afford the price of this treatment and my dentist referred me to this clinic. 2 hours and 45 minutes with my mouth open, i got a rash plus the pain in my jaw.. lower back pain, more than 20 x rays, I meant every 5 minutes an x ray, at this moment I can not have a bite on my left mouth side....God this was horrible!!!!!!
Meena Tejwani: Horrible - takes 6 months to finish root canal - they have started work & won't finish it- I am waiting for my next appointment since January 😥
CR Vid: The worsts de dentist in the Boston area , they need to look for another university cause they don’t have idea how to work .. I went for a root canal a crown but they can’t do it…
Dmitriy Gorbachev: From the moment I initially contact Dr. Furkat Sadykov at Boston University School of Dental Medicine, till my treatment was completed I was certain that this was my dental clinic to go. Professors, student doctors and stuff are really polite and competent.I was first taken aback by Dr. Furkat Sadykov's two-hour comprehensive examination, which included several X-rays, photographs, and measurements that I was completely unaware of. When I returned for another session, Dr. Sadykov and his mentor Dr. Asikis discussed the findings in easy-to-understand detail, and I finally understood why everything was finished. When they displayed images of my teeth, x-rays on a giant screen, and a stone duplicate of my teeth, it was like something out of a science fiction film.Even though there were significant gaps in time between visits and each appointment may last up to three hours, I believe it is preferable to invest time and money in thorough, monitored treatment that is overseen by knowledgeable professors.I was very satisfied with the treatment I got. Excellent dental treatment is provided, and patient education is highly appreciated. I'm very thankful.
Annmarie Lorizio: Very good Very personal experience. Had very good work done here.
FERHAT TOPKAYA: Students are really nice and trying to help you. However, it is a dental school and for students to gain some experience only. So, don't expect to receive a treatment. You will be examined by many students and faculty members, taken tons of X-rays. After so many visits and exams (I am talking about so many months), you will have nothing in your hand.Making an appointment over phone is almost impossible. Go and play Mega Millions. Winning the lottery is more likely. When you complain about it, the ladies in the front desks show their true faces right away. They don't hesitate to be rude at all. Especially the one with the fake eye lashes...
Alex Viana: Location with nearby parking, clean building and competent professionals
Gabi Mello: I would never go back to this place. I did an implant, paid almost $4,000 and after 2 years it fell. No one answer or return the calls. Worst place ever. DO NOT GO THERE.
Nacelys P Mariano: I don't recommend this place. I paid 5,000 for 2 implant and 2 crown. 7 months later the 2 crown fell. No one answered my questions. I called no one get back to me. I am wasting time and money is not worth it.
Erica Erica Badu: Don’t waste your time‼️ find another dentist. I went there with a small root canal infection. They told me to redo the root canal procedure, had me waiting for 8weeks for the appointment. When I finally went there, they drilled a hole in the tooth, didn’t finish the procedure, they put a weird filling on top and told me to go back in 6 weeks to finish it up.Now the filling came off, I’m left with a huge hole in my tooth. I’m in so much pain that my whole mouth seems to be affected. The waiting time is ridiculous and they’re really careless‼️
Richard Rivera Massa: Dental care is nice but....I can never reach anyone by phone. There's an option for call back that's moot. 3 days waiting for a call back to no avail. Calling also during those 3 days and...no one answers the phone. The only way to make appointments is in person it seems but that's not very practical.
A: They canceled my appointment without my consent and the person wrote for the note “Patient didn’t want to get billed”. I never said that. I called myself to schedule the appointment. They called me on the 25th and didn’t answer it. I was working.Apparently, someone’s Saturday afternoon is better than working.. joke!
T. H.: The students are rude, entitled, and don’t listen to their patients. I understand they’re a teaching Dental Hospital but they need to teach their students that they don’t know everything and how to speak to patients. Half of the issues of miscommunication that occur here wouldn’t happen if the Students just LISTENED to understand and not to spit out a response. I’ve been here twice and my mom has also been here a few times and 4/5 we have to deal with a horrible dental student with a bad attitude and a know it all disposition.
Alvaro Santo: I am very concerning about all the reviews. I was schedule for a night Gard, but now I confess that I am scare to go. I have been there in the past, and I agree that they are very slow, but I have a good care. I will try again to see and let you all know after.
Kelly Cambridgeport: The Goldman School of Dental Medicine at Boston University has saved me many thousands of dollars since I first came here in 2007. Prior to being a patient here, I was a patient at a private dental practice, which kept finding things wrong with my teeth. I am quite particular about taking care of my teeth with water flossing, brushing at least 3 times a day, etc.I got a second opinion at BU Dental 7th Floor. The crown specialist said all I needed was a small white filling and not an expensive crown of $1,895 (pre-insurance) that my private dentist was adamant about and that if she did work that was more than necessary, she would be questioned hard by her dental students because her work is reviewed by others. The small white filling and consult after insurance cost me $0. The crown at the private dentist after insurance would have cost me $1,505 (which was an exorbitant amount in 2007). I found the original estimate. Insurance would have covered only $390 of the $1,895.After that experience, I never went back to the private dentist because I realized he had been doing extensive work that was not necessary. I go now only to BU Dental. Trust is very important. More than 15 years later, my tooth still has a small white filling and has never needed a crown. My most recent visit was in late June 2022. The 7th floor waiting area has been completely remodeled. The front desk employees are friendly and helpful, especially Christine, who remembers patients. I love this place and wish I had known about it sooner than I did because I could have put all that money spent on the private dentist into my retirement account back in the 1990s through the mid-2000s.One thing I would recommend to the administrators is to put back the sinks in the treatment rooms and restart the drinking fountains on the 7th floor for a better patient experience. Seventh floor, that is what I recommend. There is another floor that student dentists work on, but I have never tried that department.
Marieda Joyner: Student dentist caused my crown from other Dentist to come out. Said he would glue it but instead he "LOST" it & no one has replaced it financially yet. My X-rays show crown. It is in records. Hopefully someone will contact me soon.
Brian Nolan: Horrible still waiting for my dentures they told me 4 to 6 weeks in November it's almost May go somewhere else I'm stuck with no teeth now they lost them and found them
Rex Harvis: Terrible. Stay away. Dr. Aziz I would not recommend!
Nicole Fulgoni: I don't recommend taking a course there

Tufts University School of Dental Medicine: what do users think?
Jorge Andujar: I when in for a consultation they took my money they basically didn’t do anything , they said the they was going to call me and never call me back . I would not recommend this place to no one, very bad customer service here!
Paula G: I had a broken abscessed tooth removed. There were 5 students in the room which increased my anxiety which increased the pain. The students had the light so close to my face I was sweating profusely from it. Minimal supervision of students and the fact that no one asked me if it was ok to have 5 students over me I find unprofessional. I’m still having an issue with tooth sensitivity in 3 teeth next to the extraction. The fact is I’m afraid to ever go back they hurt me so bad. Then having students stand over you laughing about how much pain you’re going to be in is extremely unprofessional. The lack of supervision is baffling!
Nery Gonzalez: On Thursday I got a temporary tooth so my other dentist can put the crown and she say by 3 day the pain should go away I am still in pain and my face cheeks are still puffy and sore and I can’t sleep and they didn’t give medication for pain just drink Tylenol it should go away yea right I almost finished a whole bottle of Tylenol pain I am still in painIf someone see my comments please what a good pain relief for tooth pain
Rebecca Heanssler: 1 star is almost seems too generous. I prefer to post good reviews but I decided to make an exception for this one. I started care with Tuft's at the beginning of summer of 2022. I first had to get my wisdom teeth removed and then get upper jaw surgery. When I got my wisdom teeth removed, I ended up with three different infections over the course of 3 months. The follow up care was terrible. They would not provide me with antibiotics until I really pushed it and my oral surgeon tried to drain an abyss without any numbing. Now I have braces to prepare for the jaw surgery. I finally got clearance from my orthodontist. When I called Tuft's to make an appointment with my oral surgeon (who by the way, I have been in touch with this whole process) they informed me my oral surgeon has left the practice and they no longer take my insurance. So even if I wanted to switch to a different provider, it would not be covered. They basically told me there was nothing they could do. The fact that they didn't inform me of this until I called is unacceptable in my eyes. Jaw surgery is not just something you can change you mind on once getting braces as in their words "it gets worse before it gets better". Now I have a worse bite and trouble eating hard foods. I would never recommend Tuft's to anyone.
Olga Bano: Been there 3 times with my 5 year old. Today my daughter got screamed at by the dentist that she was scaring the other kids when she started crying when they were trying to do an x-ray on her. She was there 3 times and they know that she has a gagging reflex and that she is scared of xrays. That was the reason why they were supposed to give her the medication to make her drowsy. Its not my daughter who is scaring the kids. Its your dentist who is scaring the kids by screaming at them in front of everybody. Shame on you!
Reagan DeSantis: Everyone is absolutely amazing! Everyone is so sweet, welcoming, and comforting. I always have had problems with dentists in the past, and have had a huge fear of dentist hurting me 😂 but Sydney my student-dentist is my absolute FAVORITE. She’s graduating in May and I just know she’s going to do amazing things in life. I definitely recommend going to tufts for all your dental needs! The process is a little slower but it’s so worth it.Thank you tufts for everything you’ve done for me!
Iselchyresse Israel-Megahan: I fired Tuft's today. It was a long time coming, and I never should have waited so long..... THE PROBLEMS ::: Between their ornery, and egregiously unprofessional front desk staff; a woman who approached like a bull moose in heat because of a a zip code glitch in Tufts' system meant that I did not receive any written communication about a small bill that my insurance company had questions on paying (this woman could make the gestapo wet their pants so discourteous, and bullying was she over a matter I did not even have an awareness of); failure on the part of the much of the staff and my dentist too, to honor my protected status under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ignorance of the law does not excuse one from obeying it); and finally over top disdain and rudeness from my student dentist himself, Dr. Omar Alhinti (he lambasted me in writing for asking for help with a sudden emergent problem and that good old ADA issue) which led me to informing him that his service will no longer be needed (yes, I fired him), and that he should never contact me again. The ONE SHINING LIGHT in the whole experience was an instructor/ overseer from the country of Georgia, who demonstrably understands patient courtesy (my assigned dentist never evidenced such) and she always took the time to ensure that I understood what she meant (ADA consideration? kindness? I know not. It was just there.).
Lucy: Charged me $316 for a 20 minute consultation. Place is a joke, definitely go elsewhere
Emily Russell: So I don't know how a dental school doesn't take MassHealth and Medicare but according to my dentist they do and according to the secretary they don't but there a dental school mind you they're not like a private practice their dental School they won't accept the referral from my dentist claiming they don't accept MassHealth in Medicare Medicaid but there a dental school what the hell also news to my dentist
Hadassah Rose: If I could give zero stars that's what they deserve. I initially called and spoke to someone there about what I needed to be done. I told them I'm disabled and needed work that was too expensive at a specialist and she told me that they would work with me. I was charged over 80 dollars before I even saw the doctor who when I did get there told me they charge more than specialists. He then gave me a cost of 3 times more than the dentist I had seen before going there. I spent over 80 dollars for 15 minutes of nothing! They are a scam. Avoid this place!!!!
Katelyn Liberty: The best.My daughter woke up one morning with an excruciating tooth ache. We brought her to our regular dentist who ended up saying that nothing could immediately be done to ease her pain... called tufts, explained that the child was in tears and they told me to bring her in- even though it was like 20 minutes before they were supposed to close. The whole dentistry team was so friendly, they extracted her problem tooth quickly and made her feel comfortable.Needless to say, I am switching all of my children over to tufts and will be seeing them as our regular dentist from now on.
C S: I had a filling done in 2001. I recently found out from another dental facility this year (2022) that the tooth I had the filling done was left hollow, the dentist just sealed my tooth with out filling it in. For all these years!! I’m appalled and beyond disappointed. I experienced so much pain in my tooth for all these years.
Nikhil Shah: Avoid all classes/lectures with Hitesh Tolani. He is not properly educated in the dental field, a lousy instructor, and has an extensive track record of harassing and demeaning students.
Eric Telisnor: Don't get a root canal done by doctor Shingala, it was extremely painful and the service and wait times were horrible
Shi-Hua Chin: It takes SO LONG just to get anything done here. I was fine with that, I put up with over a year of appointments just to get my crown done. But I had originally gone in for a wisdom tooth removal. I finally had it scheduled for today. 1.5 years later.Last week, I get a reminder about my appointment today. No problem. I show up today for my appointment, and receive a call from them (while I am parking in their lot) saying they rescheduled my appointment for next month. Unprofessional. On a positive note, my student provider Caroline was awesome. I hope she gets out of this place and has a great career.
elise belanger: Tufts Dental, Boston, MADr Jordan Willner, Oral Surgeon, Tufts DentalI have had more than my share of dental work but it is rare to find a dentist or dental surgeon who is kind, thoughtful and extremely precise and skilled.I received dental implant procedures from Dr Jordan Willner and I am consistently impressed by his skills in placing the dental implants quickly and painlessly. Always considerate of my needs during the placements, he advised me before he started each piece of the procedure about what he was going to do and asked if I needed anything to simply raise my hand slightly to notify him. He was thorough but was done more quickly than the average. I also had significantly less post-op swelling and pain than in my other implants. I am so grateful for his concern for my comfort during the procedure and his excellent post-procedure plans for care. His superior skills were demonstrated by dexterity, strength and knowledge to approach each implant quickly but thoroughly, providing direction to his assistant and reassurance to me. He is also very prompt and thorough about answering any questions.August, 2022
Aranyi Arias: Awful! Five years of braces treatment. Five different doctors (students) and I just feel like a lab rat!At the end I just told them to take the braces off. Just AWFUL!!!
Seraphina: I have always loved the dentist but unfortunately I went to West Broadway Family Dental and a dentist there destroyed my tooth. I had SUCH anxiety after and tried all different places. THANK GOD I FOUND TUFTS. These guys are very well practiced and trained. I was completely at ease, the procedure was quick, my anxiety was addressed appropriately, not just one person but several people worked on the diagnosis in the technician was 100% brilliant for my root canal procedure. I used to be afraid of going to all types of students because I have chronic debilitating immune disorder, but when it comes to Tufts Dental School I no longer have that assumption. Some places just do do it better than others. The way the facility is run and designed is beneficial to both the community and the higher learning Dental professionals. Thank you SO MUCH!!!
Robin Cady: Each student that treated me took the time to explain the process and assured me each step of the way during the wisdom tooth extraction. Relieved the pain.
Sade Ojuri: Help you
G Unit: Toxic workplace everybody is quitting

Boston Dental: what do users think?
Martin Cotter: Amazing team, very skilled Dentist and specialists , great management teamhighly recommended
Kayla Foots: Boston Dental (Downtown Crossing) has been my dental provider since I moved to Boston ~3 years ago. The entire team is amazing but I have to give a special shout out to my hygienist, Juan C. Last month, the dentist told me I needed a deep cleaning. I had every intention of procrastinating this as long as I could because I hate needles and I’d need 2 separate appointments to complete this cleaning. I also have anxiety and didn’t want to have an anxiety attack b/c of how much I was dreading the needles. When Juan followed up with me regarding the deep cleaning, I expressed my concerns to him. He was so understanding and really helped to calm my nerves! Today, I had 1/2 of my deep cleaning sessions. Juan talked me through the needles portion (and distracted me with some jokes)! I was so calm and relaxed, the whole thing was over before I knew it. I can’t say thank you to him enough!
Kerstin Spirohn: Dr. Simon has been my dentist for the last 10 years and she’s amazing. I’m not a big fan of dental work and an anxious patient but her very kind, empathetic and calming way helps so much and I trust her.
Katherine Mize: I have visited this practice three times now and am a BIG fan--I have ultra sensitive teeth and was REALLY dreading getting a couple of fillings replaced. The doctor walked me through the images of my teeth and which fillings were important to deal with on what timeline. I didnt feel anything but the anesthetic shot (and not even that very much as they use a numbing topical gel first), I watched netflix on a screen above me the whole time, and we were done within ~an hour for two fillings.I have also had another practice push hard for me to get a couple of crowns which Dr. Fang said was aggressive and not necessary at this time. They have been easy to work with, provide top notch care with all the extras, and even made me a plan to help me max out insurance benefits/minimize out of pocket costs for what I needed. I have not felt pushed to get anything above what was absolutely needed and really appreciate it!
Mike Haley: This office was very nice to me from day 1. I have terrible anxiety going to the dentist, Dr Simon and her assistant were great. I even had a small panick attack during my procedure and they knew exactly what to do in order to help me. I am extremely grateful for all there help. I had a mouth full of broken teeth that had to all be pulled. At 48 years old I neglected my teeth and the dentist. Now I have new dentures and I'm happy. They
Cathleen Price: Jennifer is a really great hygienist. Does a wonderful pain free job. Love Dr. Simon also!!
Erickson Fernandez: I’m here to write about Dr.Chang. I went in for this surgery today, totally anxious and scared. Literally for no reason. Dr.Chang works you thru each process he is doing and makes sure you are comfortable. He even goes over the plan if you have any questions, which I did. It literally finished in 10 minutes. I was stunned. His skills with the anesthesia needle are next level. This doctor was meant to do what he does, thank you for the easy surgery.
Jacqueline Murphy: The dental hygienist and the front staff were incredible - I give them a 5. The facilities are also very nice. However, overall I want to give a 3.5 but that isn’t an option so I’ll round up. The dentist had lots of information to relay to me but didn’t properly communicate everything I need to get done (I knew I needed some crowns and cavity replacements because of my dental history). I ended up having to clarify everything with the dental hygienist who was able to break it down for me. The dentist rushed every interaction we had and struggled to speak with me on a human level. I am going to continue with my procedures here but may consider other options if the dental work is as rushed as the patient interactions.
Tang Jenny: Great dentist, rest of the admin and billing, scheduling staff isn't as great. They ask to fill in the patient intake form, but nobody actually reads it. The address on the estimate isn't remotely correct as I am organizing through all my dental billing files
Helen C: Have come to this place for cleanings, fillings, tooth whitening, and a gum graft surgery over the last 5 years. Friendly and professional staff, clean space, and efficient service.
Jessica Julien: DO NOT GO HERE ‼️(Read all the 1-2 star reviews and there is a common theme of this dental practice trying to get patients to do unnecessary procedures. They are money hungry and do not care about the well being of their patients)Long story short they stuck my “temporary crown” to my tooth and then couldn’t get it off when it was time to install my permanent crown. The dentist then insisted that i extract my tooth and get an expensive implant instead of continuing with a crown. This was recommended even though my dentist had not performed any vertical x-rays. They then told me they would reach out to me for a consultation for an implant. I didn’t hear back from them for 3 months after reaching out to them multiple times via telephone. I had fully paid for a crown that was not completed by the dentist. The practice having known this procedure was not completed charged my insurance for this even though I had not received a crown. Within those 3 months they had not adjusted or refunded the insurance nor my out of pocket cost. When I emailed the director of the practice about this insurance FRAUD they then made excuses and 2 days later I got an email from my insurance saying it was adjusted. I have yet to receive any refund from this establishment for my out of pocket cost that I spent towards getting a crown. Essentially they have stolen my money and are no longer communicating with me.With regards to my tooth I visited 2 new dentist in Boston and both of them told me it was incredibly strange that my dentist would recommend extraction to a 25 year old without even taking vertical x rays and that I was smart for seeking a second opinion. My new dentist was able to complete a crown for me with no complications and said that my tooth was not infected nor did it show any signs indicating that the tooth needed to be extracted.Overall I am happy that I did not have to spend thousands on an implant that I did not need. Please do not go here this place does not care about their patients, I emailed the director privately about this matter and he did nothing to rectify or refund the money i invested in getting a crown.(P.S. they have a raffle to win a product if you leave a review, so the reviews on here are not genuinely because patients love this practice and more or so incentivized by the idea of getting something for free, don’t be fooled like I was)
Kevin Thomas: The practice Manager Denise is absolutely phenomenal. Not only does she address any concerns but she listens actively to any grievance and discovers ways to remedy them. By far one of the best managers to date, she improves the experience of any Boston Dental member drastically. I highly recommend a speaking to her if you are not satisfied with your visit.
H K: I scheduled visits for our family of 6, which was easy. Said my husband and I both had many cavities and fillings that needed to be replaced. Felt pressure to fix asap and make an appointment for them asap, even paid ahead of time for my husbands. Then, we got a letter the next week saying they were no longer taking our insurance in 1 month. We never got the work done and did get reimbursed. Fast forward, we found a new dentist who did scans/X-rays and cleaned teeth. We had no cavities and told us no need to replace those fillings. This place tried to make us get tons of work done that wasn’t necessary. Sad not to be able to trust a dentist office. Glad they stopped taking our insurance.
Olivia St. Martin: Excellent patient care and customer service! I just had my first appointment at Boston Dental, and the experience exceeded my expectations from start to finish. Kristen, the patient coordinator, is incredibly responsive and helpful. She reached out to me within just a few hours of submitting an appointment inquiry and was able to find a spot for me the very next day. During my appointment, both Jennifer and Dr. Vi were extremely attentive when listening to my concerns, and took the time to answer all my questions and walk through my care plan. Plus, it was truly one of the least painful cleanings I’ve ever had. Mike was also very helpful during the checkout process / when rescheduling my follow-up appointments. I highly recommend this office for anyone looking to switch to a new dentist in Boston!
Lori Petrosinelli: I have had the best experience with 95% of the staff at Boston Dental. However, there is one person (Denise) office manager that is the glue of this businessI had a problem with a tooth on a Sunday and sent an email never expecting to get a reply until Monday morning.Denise contacted me immediately and needed to call in a script. She went beyond her job to give me her personal phone number. We went on to text several times until pharmacy opened on Sunday. This isn’t the only time she has helped me. She watches who is in waiting room and makes sure no one is there more than 15 minutes without her remedying it.10 stars for Denise.I hope the business realizes how valuable she is. Truly the glue for a successful business.
Chien-Chih Lin: Dr. Laura Simon did a great job with astounding precision and care. Mike, the financial specialist, had a firm grip and understanding on every detail. It was a pleasure working with the wonderful people in Boston Dental.
Lui Dent: Saw Dr Simon .. She is very professional and I am very happy with my treatment.
Matthew Michaud: These guys are great. I’ve gone to the Downtown Crossing location a few times now and they’ve just been the best. Made an appointment day of to get my wisdom teeth out and Dr. Chang absolutely nailed it. Go here for all your dental needs!
Tom Vong: I really like Boston Dental because it's located in downtown which is very convenient for me. I'm very impressed with the high tech stuff they use to look at your teeth so you definitely can see them in high definition. And most of all, everyone that I interacted with during my visit was super friendly!
Benjamin Jackson: Great service. Everyone in the office is warm and helpful. They always make sure I feel welcomed, comfortable and appreciated.
Carolyne Nelson: Love Boston Dental. It’s always clean, the staff is professional, and I always get the best care. Just had my bi-annual cleaning with Juan, and he was great. When the dentist came by to check my teeth, she mentioned some slight gum recession, and Juan took the time to take pics and show me what she was talking about. He also explained what I can do to prevent any further recession. I always recommend this place to anyone look for a great dentist!

Boston University: Dental Health Center: what do users think?
y avait deux: I saw Dr. Alcade at this clinic, and I didn't have a very good experience. To start I called the clinic to make a consultation for teeth whitening-my teeth are well taken care of and nice looking- but I'd just moved and was interested in a new practice and a slight improvement. The staff were kind of rude and they made an ordeal of needing to see what condition my teeth were in- Why not just say "hey we require an initial routine examination? And why assume I didn't have previous dental care? They didn't ask for my previous records, and getting my xrays and photos to them was a huge hassel (on their part).Anyway, I went through with the visit, The doctor kept commenting that she couldn't believe how healthy and white my teeth were, but it didn't come across in a good way. Her tone was condescending, and it felt like she and her staff have some preconceived biases about black people, specifically. I went through with the whitening because, at the time, I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt, and that was a mistake that left my gums scarred and took weeks to heal. Anyway lesson learned.
Maura M: After nearly 30 years of being seen by the same dentist, his retirement led me to find a new provider and I chose BU Dental as a BU employee. I was seen three times, each time by a new dentist. The first one I did not like because she spent more time trying to sell cosmetic whitening treatments to me than discussing my dental health, the second one I liked but I did not find out until my third visit that he had left. The third provider told me I needed four fillings. I had never had a cavity before coming to this office. I switched to a different dentist office where they did not find any cavities or tell me I needed fillings.BU Dental hygienists gave me the most painful cleanings I have ever experienced. My gums were sore for two days after the appointment. They also were so rough when flossing near a baby tooth that I had told them about that they ruptured it and now I will need to have it removed and get a dental implant. No wonder some people hate going to the dentist. If this is the experience they have, I would hate it too.
Sierra Goodrich: It has been over 6 months of getting fitted for retainers. I have spent countless hours, time off of work, and Uber payments to come to this office only to find that yet again the retainers are not fitting. This is an issue specific to either the person taking my molds or the company who they source for molds as I have been wearing my temporary retainers every day and they still fit. After the 5th time of trying and failing to fit me for retainers they basically gave up and offered a refund. However I’ve had to call multiple times to get the refund confirmed. I am now without permanent retainers and once my temporary retainers eventually wear down and break I will be stuck with no solution.
Sam Stuart: No words to describe the incompetence, disinterest in professional patient care and the extent of miscommunication about treatment plans, finances. Most of the staff and doctors are kind but that is where the dentistry stops. Disappointing experience for our family.
Elise Capillo: It really pains me to do this review but I feel it needs to be said so others know possible pitfalls. In December 2021 my dentist submitted a referral form for me here for a root canal. I also called and submitted online. It said on the recording I would hear back within 3 days. It did not happen. I called my dentist. They said BU Dental received over 1000 faxes over Xmas. Okay so I expected a wait. My tooth was broken and could get infected at any time. Multiple calls and faxes from my dentist over the months, they even told him they would contact me. I kept trying too. Nothing! Here I am 7 months later after multiple attempts and nothing, but still with the 3 day call back recording when you call. What gives? So unprofessional, I have no words. I called my insurance and found another dentist, JNL Family Dental in Framingham. They saw me within a few days and the following week I had my first root canal visit. Very professional all the way around. Although I hear many mention BU Dental, I feel they are not living up to what some believe to be a great reputation. I never give 1 star but after 7 months of trying they've earned it!
Islam El bakoury: Very bad experience.
Leanne Scott: Awesome place, amazing dentists. Been coming here for 13 years and love going to the dentist!
emanuel neves: Well monitor and clean
Rider Wilkinson: The people here are very kind and understanding. They are helpful and great with children.
Jose Antonio: Great receptionist there. Love them all!

Boston University Dental Health Center: what do users think?
Travis Franks: I've called, left messages, and emailed without hearing back. Absolutely ridiculous
T V: As every other review says, they have terrible customer service. I am not chasing them down for an appointment. Getting my charts sent to another dentist. Don't recommend.
scotty: ridiculous facility and horrible customer service. The representative pretended he send the claim to my insurance company when I called, but he didn't. I have to call back multiple times over the past few months just to have them send the claim to my insurance. Their customer service will also hang up your phone call without notice.
GuhdarS: The worst dentistry in Boston they couldn’t even pull out a tooth of my 7 years daughter. Not friendly.
Akr Ryan: Worst place to visit for any dental work. Too many students with little to no knowledge. Be aware 🤬
Brant Grieshaber: I was referred to BU for a crown several months ago. After going in for an evaluation I was told the cost would be $300, would require 2 visits, and that someone would contact me within a week to schedule my first appointment. After not being able reach anyone for a couple of months I went in in person and discovered that they forgot about some paperwork. I got my first appointment scheduled shortly thereafter.During that appointment I was told that it would actually require 4 visits and that the cost would be $800, but that someone would speak with the billing department to resolve the matter. The overseeing doctor thought the discrepancy was problematic from an ethics standpoint and I agree. After my second appointment the pandemic was announced, so it’s understandable that no further work has been done. I have since received two “past due” bills for $800. When I called about this I was told that I just had to pay the bill.BU Dental is billing me almost 3x what I was quoted for a procedure that requires 12 hours rather than 6 AND they’re telling me I have an overdue bill in the midst of a pandemic when not even 1/2 the work has been done.Update: my debit card has now been charge $800. I can’t get through to the billing department and I still have only a temporary crown several months later, not to speak of the exquisite pain of having an unqualified student who doesn’t know when to use lydocaine work on my tooth..Is there an ethical line they won’t cross?
B: They need a better answering service so that patients do not have to keep calling so many times to set up appointments. If they have an answering machine someone should be assigned to review and return those calls. It doesn’t make sense the hurdles I had to go through to get a consultation appointment.
Kofi Boateng: Called the clinic today (07/16/2019 @ 11:20am) and was forwarded a rude appointment scheduler who had me on hold for 6 minutes before I hung up. Terrible first impression.
Noel Sanchez: So far so good , service is good and my teeth are looking nice white and straight

Harvard Dental Center- Longwood: what do users think?
Tim Weatherwax: The staff, The students are all amazing. It was a very relaxed setting and the service was better than I could have imagined
Arturo Asuaje: Excelente atención y muy profesional.
Maria Barbosa-Oliveira: Depois de 5 anos retornei, o tratamento continua excelente. obrigada a todos os funcionarios, professores e alunos.
PAULIE DRIVER: Always Grade A+ treatment at HDS! Love the staff and the students and residents are all very welcoming talented and the future of dentistry!!
Napasorn Chuwong: I have been impressed everyoneat Harvard Dental Teaching School especially Motesano Joe.They take care me the great.Thank-you so much.
James OReilly: the software is nice and easy to use to confirm appointments
Marvin Wilkenfeld: The care and professionalism is "5 star. Over the years, I have had major dental restoration at Harvard Dental Center to correct previous work done by private dentists. Mini-implants which have a high failure rate were replaced as needed, dentures that are comfortable, and the students were overseen by faculty during every procedure The students are caring and professional and deserve highest praise that is expected of Harvard students.
Narjes: I really like coming in to this dental practice. They are very professional and helpful. They are more reliable than private practices in whether work is needed or not. The dentist was very thorough and took her time to explain and the the dental cleaning was really good. Recommend this dental practice.
JK: This is a long overdue review for my visit earlier this year. I made an appt to go visit the Harvard Student Dental Clinic for my routine cleaning and was taken care by a team of a third year student (D. Chung), several specialty residents, and a faculty member. I also regularly visit my local dentist and orthodontist in Boston but it was the most comprehensive oral exam I was given recently with amazing care here at Harvard. There was an ongoing acute discomfort with one of my upper right molar tooth that I was not able to resolve during prior dental appts. The student clinician and faculty diagnosed the sensitivity as potentially arising from occlusion or trauma to bite for which they performed an occlusal bite adjustment by grinding it down abit. The moment I walked out of the clinic, I was completely free of any oral discomfort and it has been that way ever since. Was absolutely amazed by the team’s care and precise treatment. Huge thanks to the student clinician especially. Highly recommend the Harvard dental clinic!
Jenn: I had my consultation last week for two root canals, I have been in excruciating pain for months, and Harvard was the only place to give me an appointment. When I went for my consultation, I was so worried I would have to wait another month or two to get their procedures. The amazing woman who saw me said she was booked out, but checked to see if her co resident to see me this week. Luckily for me they had an emergency appointment open. I am so grateful for Harvard dental for seeing me so quickly. Thank you thank you thank you.
Sophia H: Jeremiah Kim soon to be Dr., has cared for my oral health these past two years. I have been with the Harvard teaching practice for over a decade and words seem inept to describe the exemplary and professional care I received from Dr. Kim! I am so sad to lose him as he moves on to his residency. Harvard has been fortunate to have him and those he will continue to serve will be in his impeccable care. Thank you Jeremiah and the very best to you.
Vannis MSoteroM: super professional team. Fair price I recommend
Patricia Chane: Dr. Nagai is superb - a wonderful person and fabulous Dentist. She has done amazing work to resolve issues related to outside Practitioners. I wish I started my dental care here years earlier. So happy to be here now!
Dexter Van Zile: Love this place.Great care, nice people.
Bill B.: If you have the choice to go elsewhere, u should. Very few people are content patients at hds. Those who get reduced rates by seeing student dentists may be more pleased then those of us with insurance. Scheduling is difficult, wait times for appointments are long. The staff, from front office staff to the dentists are rude and not patient focused, and to be fair, are overworked. They are always working under time pressure with limited time to answer questions. If u have an emergency they can't help. Their after hours emergency line is absolutely useless. They'll either tell you call the office on Monday morning, or if it's really bad go to the emergency room. Going into that facility is always an unpleasant experience. That being said if you can tolerate the rudeness and the scheduling and the total lack of being treated like a person, the quality of their work for specific procedures is of course at Harvard standards. But overall, dealing with HDS is mostly a negative experience.
Alexandria Newland: Everyone here is very helpful, respectful, and attentive. I really appreciated the quality of care and the opportunity to help the students learn how to master their craft. I would highly recommend joining the teaching practice as a new patient, as they try to go above and beyond to help you fulfill your teeth goals. Well worth the extra time that goes into their sessions. Entrance is located to the left of the main building. Enjoy!
Mark Exley: As someone bringing my kids as well as myself to HDS over the years, I have always been impressed by the staff and capabilities at HDS. My ‘go to’ place for my oral health.
Just Paper: Harvard Dental is professionally superior to any other dental experience I’ve had !
victoria wilson: excellent care
Hassan Kamaly Ismail Elzeneiny: I recommend this dental school to all who are willing to exchange a lot of time for savings to get excellent care. By a lot of time I mean 4 years with each appointment 4 hours usually.Unfortunately I have had a four failures. Though I was told that re-do procedures are free, I learned that they cap the refund at 40%.I was pressured to accept a removal of all the teeth on my mandible (top) and offered only a 40 % refund.
Gary Sutton: GOOD DENTAL SERVICE AT GOOD RATES, BUT MY PRIMARY DENTIST GRADUATED AND, THEN THE PANDEMIC CAME A THEY CLOSED THE SCHOOL, THAT WAS IN 2020,MY FIRST RETURN VIST IS NEXT WEEK AFTER ALMOST 3 YEARS,WE WILL SEE WHAT HAPPENSHAD GREAT APPOINTMENT WITH NEW DENTISTS ALREADY IN NEW PLANING FOR IMPLANTS AND MORE GREAT PEOPLE MY ONLY ISSUES ARE WITH MY DELTA DENTAL INSURANCE COMPANY
