He asked me to send photos and discussed how he could fix it with me, then made time for me when his shop is normally closed so that he could get it fixed quickly. Allie Karta: I am new to the boston area, and i am sick of having to dye my hair every 2-3 weeks do to the sheer amount of grey I have. I called to book my appointment, and explain that i am ready to start blending my grey with my brown hair. I even explained on the phone what I wanted while looking at my reference photos and that I’ve had to dye my hair at home due to being new to Boston and not having hairstylist yet. I was assured this would not be an issue. Spoiler alert, it was an issue.My hair stylist Angela isn't even listed in the reviews or on the website, so either she is super new, or she does such bad job constantly that they remove all her reviews. I was also told that 1 person just quit and another is on vacation for the rest of the month so you can tell the remaining 2 stylists are stressed. My appointment was at 3, and I wasn’t seen until 3:30 because there are only 2 stylists working there and they are crazy short staffed. I showed Angela the reference pictures I described on the phone, and she’s like “I don’t do that type of color, but I can do something to blend ”. Then she kept on telling me I had a lot of banding, I agreed but since I clearly told them that I had to dye my hair at home a few times when I booked the appointment I figured she knew this ahead of time and had a plan.Well $315 before tip later (they didn’t even charge me for the full services since I think she realized how messed up this is) , I have the chunkiest highlights I have seen since the mid 2000’s . The sad part is that the whole time Angela was hyping me up and telling me it looked good, so maybe she thinks this is good work? I also had to leave the salon with my hair wet because they didn't have time to blow dry, but I think it was so I couldn’t see how bad the whole head looked. Michelle Faits: I had never dramatically colored my hair before, and I was new to Boston so I didn't have a regular stylist yet. It seemed risky to me to go to a new person and let them dye my dark brown hair red, but I figured a place named House of Colour would know what to do. Rogue was my stylist and she was fantastic. She looked through the pictures I showed her of what I was looking for and talked it through with me before she got started, and she took my ideas and added her expertise so I ended up with a look that I loved. She did such a nice job painting subtly different levels of color throughout my hair, so it came out looking very natural and pretty. I don't know how she did it, but the color even faded over time in a really pretty way, setting nicely closer to my natural brown with coppery highlights. Just went back to her for the roots and touch up. If you're considering changing up your color, I can't recommend Rogue and House of Colour enough.Service:Hair coloring

Jeffrey Lotz: 6/16/21 Receptionist was courteous and offered me water. I was exactly on time for the appointment, but was kept waiting 15 minutes. Jamie looked genuinely disappointed upon meeting me, was dismissive, spoke to me only when necessary, and said basically nothing when cutting my hair. He never said goodbye, thank you after finishing the haircut, nothing. I wasn't expecting to become best friends, but Jamie's demeanor was bordering on rude. The haircut was fine, but he did miss some hairs on the left side of my neck. Ciara Holmes: Definitely read before booking an appointment here. I had high hopes and thought I was going to be treating my mother, bridesmaid, and myself to an upscale salon on my wedding day. Attached are pictures of the day. I did not get a picture of the final style Cynthia did for me but just know it was awful!This hair salon is absolute GARBAGE and I would not recommend going there for any hair services. They DO NOT take plastic, only Venmo, cash, or check. The owner of the salon Cynthia or Cindy not only burnt my face with a curling iron (and replied oh it wasn’t that hot) is poor at communication, unprofessional, unorganized, rude, passive aggressive. I do not believe that anyone in that salon is an internationally trained stylist. Cynthia the owner nor anyone in that salon know how to do bridal services, even though their website says they do they DO NOT. This salon is located on Newbury St. in Boston, probably the most high-end street in downtown Boston, so one would assume that you would be treating yourself by booking an appointment at this salon.I recently had a small intimate wedding Oct. 30 2021 in Boston MA. I booked 3 appointments one for myself, my mother, and my bridesmaid back in June 2021. In August 2021 I sent pictures of hair styles for the wedding, I also sent two pictures one of myself and the other of my bridesmaids hair so that way the stylists assigned to us Cynthia/Cindy (owner of salon) & Maria would know what we had going on as far as hair goes. I did not book a trial because I the bride was just looking for a fish tail braid, or a voluptuous side braid and my bridesmaid, mother live out of state, and the hairstyles they were looking to get where nothing out of the ordinary a simple down curled with some twist in hair and a low bun.There are a lot of details in between Oct.20 the day I confirmed my appts. and wedding day Oct. 30, long story short, I was told the braid I wanted could not be done it didn’t match my dress and that if I wanted it done I needed to purchase hair, so I settled for an updo that could be done. That was where I thought we left it and that’s what I thought was going to be performed.So, as she started to prepare my hair for the up do, she had Darlene her assistant I assume standing beside her helping her. Darlene first did the little side braid in my hair and then Cynthia destroyed the up do from there. I wish I had a picture of her finished style however I do not. After about crying in the salon chair, and losing my mind, I told Cynthia to please work on my mother’s hair I needed to go outside and get some fresh air and to calm down because I was about to lose it on that woman. So, after I went outside Darlene the assistant came down to talk me off a ledge because I was seconds away from being very ruthless towards Cynthia. I agreed to go back upstairs and let Darlene put the fish tail braid in my hair like I had originally wanted from the get-go. After Cynthia was finished with my mother’s hair which also was horribly done and Maria the other stylist who my bridesmaid hair was done by (also a awful job) I paid the bill of $400. We walked out and left. Before I got back to my hotel to meet the makeup artist I booked to do my make up I received multiple phone calls, one text message and two voicemails (which were BEYOND unprofessional) from Cynthia K salon telling me that I did not pay Maria the stylist who did my bridesmaid “up-do” (which was a down hair style)and that she is an independent stylist and needs to be paid for her services. How their stylist at the salon get paid is not my issue and that is something that the salon should have figured out. I paid $400 for three awful bridal service hair styles. (2) of the $150 went to Cynthia herself and so the remaining $100 should have went to her stylist Maria.Needless to say my mother took out her up-do, my bridesmaid re did some of her twist and hair, and I had the make up artist I booked fix my fish tail braid that was NOT DONE by CYNTHIA herself.Services:Braids,Hairstyling,Twist braids,Updos

I had an amazing deep conditioning treatment with an incredible scalp massage that felt amazing and it made my hair look and feel so much better. Cynthia was so great about giving me suggestions on how to get my hair back into good condition and everyone in the salon was so kind and friendly. So reasonably priced for the quality. I will definitely be back.

Rachel Sim: I booked an appointment at Cynthia K salon with Olivia for a Full Balayage and I cannot explain how happy I am with my hair. Olivia was so kind and she explained the entire process to me. She was so helpful with any questions that I had. When I first arrived, she asked me what I was looking for, and although I had a foilage done before this, my hair was extremely grown out and dark. Olivia was honest with me as to how light my hair would go in terms of results and how I may need another appointment to achieve the lightness in the look I was going for. She was amazing and she was able to still style my hair and achieve everything I could ever ask for. I will definitely be back to see Olivia in the very near future!!

Emily Sampson: I’ve been getting my hair cut and colored by Olivia for a few months now, and I am so glad I found her! She is an expert at blonde balayage. She took my hair a perfect few shades lighter in highlights for the summer- it really was perfect because I wasn’t able to come back in time to get it touched up, but the balayage grew out so nicely it looked so natural! Excellent root smudging too :). She is so nice and really listens to what I want, and has an amazing hand with my hair! It’s never looked better.

I have darker blonde hair naturally and Olivia always creates a piece of art by integrating my natural color into beautiful lighter blonde hues. Now I actually live in Boston so I don’t have to fly to see her! If you’re a blonde and want to try balayage for the first time or want to see what it would look like if a true artist does your color, ask for Olivia.
