Beacon Hill Athletic Clubs: what do users think?
Jacob Allen: Love this gym. Conveniently located. Best gym in the North End!
Erin Mullaney: A very convenient gym for those in the area with reasonable pricing
Angus Black: Clean, convenient location, and great staff. But as small and crowded as a tuna can. Probably not an issue if you work anything other than usual 9-5 working hours. Which most of us do. Price is not very reasonable in my opinion, but it's pretty much the only gym in the North End.
Gunnar Productions: Friendly staff. Great equipment. Has everything you need. Jay, the general manager is a great personal trainer. Highly recommend.
Kelly Montesi: Super friendly staff and clean facilities!!
Billy Regan: Great gym. Has all of the equipment one may want. Friendly staff.
zach westelman: Good facility with fairly new equipment. Somewhat small but has all the necessary equipment. The staff is always a delight and probably the best part about the gym, other than the location. The locker room is small but gets the job done but the shower and bathrooms definitely need to be updated. All in all for the price and location this is a great gym and I’m glad to be a member.
Izzy Edits Roblox: I love this gym so much .the staff are so welcoming. I do personal training with jay and he is unbelievable highly reccomend this gym.
Jennie Lurie: Great, no frills neighborhood gym. Staff and fellow clientele are friendly. Everyone, from my observation, is there to work out, not take selfies pretending to. ;) I joined about 1.5 yrs ago and have been working out with Jay for a little over a year. Before I joined, it'd been at least 10 yrs since I used weight training as my go to exercise regime. Instead of feeling intimidated, I felt welcome. Jay is a great, knowledgeable personal trainer. I've had a few serious injuries in the past, so I was worried about getting hurt as I reintroduced strength training. Jay is a hawk when it comes to correct technique and modifies if something doesn't quite feel right. Sure there are occasional busy mornings, but hey the more then merrier when it comes to healthy habits and exercise. I highly recommend BHAC North End Waterfront location!
Jared Amodio: Decent equipment but very small, too small given the amount of traffic this gym gets. They charge a yearly cleaning, which is about a months membership fee, even though it’s obvious they don’t clean here. One benefit is that membership comes with reciprocity - the BHAC by north station is a lot less busy, has more equipment and is much cleaner as well. Would recommend that gym over this one.
E T: Maria on the front desk was super helpful and really friendly. Will definitely be coming back!
Karina Santiago: I live in the north end and this is such a convenient location! It has all the machines and equipment I typically use and then some. Great, friendly staff!
Taylor-Rose Smith: PLACE IS GREAT! DISREGUARD CERA SMITH AND HER COMMENTS. I DO NOT WORK AT THIS GYM OR KNOW ANY OF THE STAFF. BUT THE PLACE IS AWESOME, AND ALSO KAREN, OOPS I MEAN CERA...WEARING MASKS IS A MANDATE. NOT A LAW. IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT STAY HOME!
Cera Smith: Over the four or five months I was a member, I was double charged on three or four occasions, so they play fast and loose with your financial info. They continued to charge me well after I cancelled my membership (beyond the extra notification time in their contract), and refused to answer any emails about reversing the charge until I got my bank involved. Once a chargeback was initiated, they suddenly were capable of refunding the improper charge (but not to respond to my emails or apologize for trying to rip me off.)I ultimately cancelled because they refuse to follow local health laws. If a gym is going to decide they're above a reasonable health/public safety law because they disagree with it, what other safety laws and rules are they going to decide they don't need to follow? I'd personally rather not find out, nor support folks who feel like they can skirt the law.Beyond those experiences: It's small, crowded, and pretty dirty. I was considering packing hand soap for a while since they didn't refill the soap in the women's locker room for a while (ew), and they definitely don't have a cleaning protocol they follow for it (aka: do NOT go barefoot in there). It also just kinda smells weird all the time, too.Avoid at all costs, there are other gyms in a walkable distance.Editing to respond to the owner's comments:I did not sign up twice under two different names and forget about one; my initial sign up was processed twice. It was flagged up as soon as I was double charged each time (I have the emails to and from Jay to prove it; y'all were capable of responding back then, even if not capable of handling financial info appropriately.) It took about two months for you to figure out how to fix it in your own system, which is not exactly promising for anyone given financial info.Re: fast and loose: Boston has a mask mandate that specifically and explicitly states gyms as a place where masks are to be worn. Yet y'all claim you're a "private club" to skirt the law. Not buying it. If you're opting out of one law, I have no reason to expect you to not do it with other laws. You also didn't quickly respond and refund when you erroneously charged me after I cancelled; you completely ignored my emails until my bank got involved, at which point you returned my money and continued to ignore me.Honestly, it's a damn shock you've managed to stay in business for so long, given how poorly you run it.
Maxine Bergstein: This gym definitely does the job, had treadmills, stair master, weight room, and more. Has never been too crowded for me to go on a machine I was hoping to get on.
Allison Fitzgerald: A solid no frills neighborhood gym. Has all the essential equipment for cardio/ lifting, and an extra room where you can lay out a mat if it’s not too crowded
William Walters: Positive:Professionalism,QualityGreat gym, fits all my needs and convenient.
Tommy Farrar: This establishment is always clean and tidy, welcoming to members, and conveniently located for locals
Claire O'Connor: Love this gym! The entire staff is always so welcoming and helpful. Lots of new equipment to get a great workout in despite it being a relatively small space. So happy to have found this place!
Nicholas Rampone: Jay and his team are the best in Boston. Although the space is small, the location cannot be beat for anyone living in the North End, or working in Financial. They continue to run a tight ship during COVID, keeping things clean, distanced, and safe.
Jorgi Adee: Staff is super nice and helpful, small space so just have to find the right time to go. Did a decent job of keeping things Covid safe.

Republic Fitness: what do users think?
Francisco Valverde: GYM the elite equipo variado y muy limpio 👍
Kathleen Sargent: Have been a member since it has opened. Great equipment and super clean.
Sadie Kurzban: super clean, nice gym! staff are friendly
Analise DeBaie: Love the staff, the equipment, and the amenities!
A C: Critical:ProfessionalismBe careful, sketcky sales tactics. Read the contract very carefully and make sure everything is in writing, don't trust verbal promises will be honored. I tried to resolve with the manager for a while but no luck wound up paying tons of cancel fees. Very disappointing experience.
Savanah M: Modest sized gym in the financial district with well kept equipment and amenities! Perfect for those looking to attend classes or focus on strength training. Plus, it’s not too busy after work compared to other downtown gyms. I HIGHLY recommend Jessica G. for any personal training needs — she is awesome!
Diana Barrett: Would totally recommend trying out this gym and using one of their trainers to get in shape
Ana Claudia MP: Eficient
Molly McCarty: I really like working out at Republic. It’s a really convenient pit stop to and from work. Never too crowded, great classes, great trainers. But the thing that separates them from other gyms I’ve been too is that the staff is super approachable and gets to know you on a first name basis.
Jayson: Great place
Karen Kelley: For a fun and friendly gym in the financial district of Boston, Republic Fitness is a great choice. Can't beat the staff here, and the vibe is less slick than some other gyms. The locker rooms are a bit cramped during busy periods. The gym is well stocked with the latest equipment, and the trainers are committed to helping you reach your fitness goals.
Jake Groenendyk: I have very high standards for cycling classes. I took a class here with Jenny and got a great workout and was also very entertained during the class. Would definitely return!
Jason Potteiger: Expensive but nice
Elaine Wall: Tons of free weights and room to use them. Staff is friendly and helpful, and the classes are great, instructors seem to really care!
ALEX MESA: The best place in the jungle concret
Rachael Wright: I like that you don't have to trade off between a well-equipped gym and intense fitness classes. This place has it all including great locker facilities.
Daphna Edgar: great downtown workout spot. crowded locker rooms.
Bill Robbins: Great gym and amazing location right near the waterfront. Staff is very helpful and always there for advice and assistance. Amazing cardio and plenty of it
James Freeman: If you take training seriously and work in downtown Boston, work in the financial district, or are rich and happen to work in the building, I recommend Republic without hesitation. Or you can go to BSC and drink in the bacteria. Every one of the staff and fitness personnel here has done a great job to create a welcoming environment. The whole facility is the cleanest gym I have ever seen; overall the offerings are awesome, especially the three adjustable racks and unfettered ability to do deadlifts etc. You can absolutely get your money's worth here - I am a satisfied 4x a week weights-oriented member who hasn't even been to a single one of the numerous free classes yet!
William Robbins: Have been a member since it has opened. Great equipment and super clean. I love working out over the weekends as the club is pretty empty. Great staff and management is very member friendly.
Tom Limmer: Clean, doesn't get too crowded, friendly staff, and great classes.

Beacon Hill Athletic Clubs: what do users think?
Markus Dirmoser-Kume: very friendly service
J Ciccone: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityLove this place. Super friendly staff. No nonsense clean gym. A++++
Ben Baldwin: GREAT GYM! Super friendly staff who always greet you when you enter and answer any questions you have. Neighborhood gym feel with nice weights area and a back area for stretching, boxing, and much more. Best Gym in the area by far..
Dan Totan: The young man working at the 3 Hancock, Boston, MA 02114 Beacon Hill Athletic Club assured me he will be at the location until 4 PM even if the schedule said up to 12 PM. I asked several times if he was sure.I showed up at 3:05 PM and the location was closed.Obviously no one picked up the phone and no one tried to contact me to let me know they close earlier.I hope I can at least get my luggage tomorrow before I have to leave Boston.I really hope the employe was just incompetent and not a thieve.Update: I picked up my suitcase. The manager said that he saw my review online. Instead of offering to make things better by some discount or apologizing he barred me from using the locker to change and refused to keep the suitcase for one more day for the usual fee. Way to go! You’re in the wrong but still the one who’s mad and unprofessional.Well, good luck to future customers. Now you know.
Maria Eduarda Santana: I had a terrible experience with the staff. Went there just to ask about membership information at 15:45 (the place closed at 16). Since no one answered the doorbell and I didn't even know if the doorbell was working, I called, and whoever answer was incredibly rude telling me that they had already left and closed the place. I then saw a customer opening the door, and I asked "Wait, is there people inside? I'm just looking for a pamphlet", the person responded yes and kindly held the door for me. The moment I stepped my foot into the door, a man looked down the stairs and started yelling at me (yes, yelling) "What are you doing?!! I told you we were closed!! Leave and come back tomorrow!! I don't know why you would do this!!". The customer that was holding the door for me was just as shocked. I've never been that rudely treated in an establishment just to look for a pamphlet. I was looking for a gym to sign a membership, and I know this is just not the place.
Amanda DeLaura: Great gym with all the equipment one needs to execute a well-rounded exercise routine. Reasonable price. Great environment in which kindness is encouraged. Very little meat heads and toxic energy. Employees at the front desk are friendly and the trainers help build an inviting environment. Biggest con/lack of professionalism are the bathrooms and lockers. They have been rather dirty which obviously shouldn’t be the case.
Liz Iglehart: The gym is clean and spacious. It is very organized and well managed. The employees are all super helpful and go the extr mile very day to make my work out fantastic.
OPHELIA SENA DEGBEY: Friendly and welcoming environment.
Anne-Marie: This gym is great! Extremely clean with a wide selection of cardio machines and strength equipment. Fellow members are respectful and careful about sanitizing equipment, while the front desk staff is really friendly and helpful. I’m quite happy to have this place in Beacon Hill!
Jay Boogie: This is a horrible gym. First of all there is no equipment to weight train here with the exception of dumbbells and a couple of straight bars. No machines. Not to mention this place has a horrible odor. Do not waste your time
Adela's Hair Studio: Best in town the classes are great staff is amazing.
todd trudeau: The staff is amazing always friendly and very helpful and I love being greeted when I go in the gym is very clean and organized and follow all the rules for covid-19
Emily M: A nice gym in a great location. Not the biggest, but It has a good amount of equipment - just wish the stair master was more up to date. Staff are very friendly and everything is kept clean.
Victoria E: Great gym, never too crowded and awesome equipment for all types of workouts! (Lifting, cardio, HIIT, TRX)
Mary G: Better than Barry's Bootcamp. I've tried a number of studios through ClassPass and Zone5 is the best for small group high impact classes. Emily and Mike put together thorough and effective workouts that take us to the next level of fitness. Friendly and welcoming environment.
Maretta Silverman: My husband and I have been doing workouts with Mike Farina since early 2018 and are very happy with Zone 5. Mike is a great coach. He pushes us to do our best and is super friendly. We look forward to every workout and are happy with the results. Thank you Mike and Zone 5!
Matt Soens: If you live in the Beacon Hill area, Zone 5 is the way to go. The space is nice and there's a good selection of well-maintained equipment. The people who work there are helpful and genuinely friendly! (No pushy sales tactics or hidden fees like some gyms.)
Amy M. Wicks: Simply put, Zone5 is a great gym. The space is small but mighty, with a little bit over everything in terms of equipment - lots of cardio machines, a couple of racks in the free weight area, and a nice space for doing kettlebell, TRX work and more. I love the HIIT classes - they are definitely challenging and no workout is ever the same so it's doesn't get boring or routine. The team at the gym makes the effort to learn your name and have been nothing but welcoming from day one. It's nice to come to a gym where you are greeted by name and see familiar faces from week to week. Highly recommend!
Nikos Karamolegkos: In just a sentence, exercising at Zone5 is an awesome, fun, and extremely rewarding experience! The staff is very kind and welcoming, setting up a great mood for the challenging HIIT classes ;) Since day one of my membership, I have been greatly enjoying each and every one of the HIIT classes. Mike and the rest of the instructors are super friendly and pleasant to talk to, yet extremely passionate, highly experienced, and committed in making sure that you are getting top-notch training. And the great thing is that the classes run in a weekly cycle focusing on all body areas, from core to lower and upper body, so that they provide a unique, wholistic, and well-structured approach to fitness!! Last but not least, Zone5 provides great facilities and a variety of gym equipment for any fitness level and type! 💪🏼💪🏼
Annie Elfar: Zone 5 is great. The team is incredibly friendly, welcoming, and down to earth. People know your name, and the gym has a community feel. The facility itself is clean and well-equipped - it has everything you need, and none of the gimmicky stuff you don't. People here are respectful, and you won't hear people banging weights noisily or feel creeped on by fellow gym-goers. My experience with personal training has been top-notch - Mike is a seasoned professional who takes a holistic, no-nonsense approach to fitness while being fun and encouraging.
Rema Alyahya: Love this gym so much!!! Zone5’s HIIT strength & cardio classes are the reason I got back into working out. They’re so fun & challenging + all the trainers are incredibly friendly and helpful! Love them all! I seriously can’t recommend this gym enough. I’ve had a bunch of friends try out a class and they loved it too - Highly recommend!!!

Women's Fitness of Boston: what do users think?
Deliel Binsaif:
Taina O: Very friendly and welcoming environment!
jessica: Critical:Communication,Professionalism,Qualitytried going to a women’s gym to not be judged. new to the area. was instead met by rude remarks by staff as well as glades and whispers when i turned my head. absolutely despicable behavior by a female-only gym, advertised to make women feel safe.
Sara Choi: I was I introduced to WFOB through Groupon, where I bought 10 personal training sessions. I wanted to get more into strength training versus cardio, so I thought a personal trainer would help me navigate all those scary machines I always see at the gym.My trainer was Melanie, and I like to tell people that she wasn't only my trainer, but also my spiritual guide. She went above and beyond to make sure that I was healthy physically, but also mentally, and that did a lot for my confidence. I enjoyed the first 10 sessions with her so much that I signed up for 12 more.I also took a Strong by Zumba class and it didn't have anything to do with Zumba, but I loved it all the same. This is a fantastic gym that is well equipped and well-priced for a place in downtown Boston.
Techie Tutorial: RE: 30 days for $30 special. Have attended 3 weeks of Zumba and Strong classes. Highly recommend both! The music is great and the instructors are top notch and super friendly.Docked one Star due to the age of the facility and lighting. While not brand new, management clearly works hard to keep the space clean and organized. Impressed with the experience and looking forward to attending more classes!
Vineela Tummala: My Favourite Gym..:)
Emma Barriga: So happy I found this place! The times that I usually go the gym doesn't have a lot of people which is nice to go through your workout and not have to wait for a machine. Great staff. Clean gym.
Hazel Alv: This place is GREAT! I visited it last week to check t out, the front desk was great. They offer great classes (zumba, weight lifting, cardio circuit) and the price is so affordable (50$ +half of it as an initiating fee total 84$ ) Plus that they have a one week trial which I thought is a great thing to try before commiting. I love this gym, the trainers are nice and the push you to the core!
JD: Machines are a little cramped, but perfect for lunch time workouts
Evelyn Rodriguez: Best women's gym in town. staff and members are very friendly. no judge zone.
Christine Manning: Comfortable atmosphere. Employees, especially owner, are very helpful and make you feel comfortable. So far really enjoying classes.
Shiva Says: Perfect. Lots of various classes. Well equipped gym. Comfort for women. No judgements or harassment or wandering eyes. Owner is interactive and pleasant, she's also the instructor for some classes
Niki Blaker: I started going to WFOB because of a Groupon, but I'm enjoying the classes so much that I'm definitely going to continue going. The staff and class instructors are so nice, welcoming, and encouraging. I really look forward to going there!
Diane Cavicchio: I have been a member of WFOB for two years now. It's a great atmosphere. The members are friendly and the vibe is non judgmental. Julie is a very smart business person as well as a great motivator. The instructors are great and the classes give you enough variety to choose what you like. I look forward to going there everyday. Thanks to all of you for making this a great little gym to work out in.
mashael mm: I have been started 3 weeks agoSo friendly and helpful to me , and a clean place. Thanks for your care.
Kimberly Lemasa: This gym is absolutely amazing. Everyone is super nice and friendly and helpful from the owner, the people that work there and the members. I really feel like its a family and I look forward to working out here. They really make it fun to work out and help you with your goals at every step...whether you're just starting out or have been at it for awhile. I can't recommend this gym enough. Its perfect! :)
Kate Fussner: I love WFOB! It's well located, fairly priced, always clean and welcoming. This is the first gym where I've felt like I'm a part of a community, not a gross downtown gym. I'm never going back to Planet Fitness now that I know what great training, personality, warmth and encouragement I can get from WFOB! The owner, Julie, works so hard to make sure that everyone gets a great experience. This is a truly wonderful small business!
Jenny Donnelly: Friendly staff, easy to get to
Vicki Hanes: I started taking classes at WFOB last winter and I was instantly hooked! I loved the Zumba class with Dianna. When I felt ready, I started taking more classes like Piloxing and Body Shred with Julie and LOVED them. By the spring I found myself going their five days a week and saw major results. I’ve always had trouble committing to a gym. At WFOB I felt comfortable and motivated to come to the gym! The instructors are friendly, knowledgeable and motivating. When I can’t make it to a class I love to use the machines and weight room.I never have to wait for a machine or weights. Most members work in the city and go before or after work. I work nights but the class schedule and gym hours work perfectly for me .WFOB is a hidden gem! I’m so happy I found it!!
Nicole Marie: Amazing gym! I've only been to one other gym- at my university- and I felt so judged and I was too uncomfortable to go. Women's Fitness of Boston is super judgement free and the membership fee is WAY more affordable than other women only gyms in Boston. Everything is clean and well maintained and the staff is all very friendly. The group classes are amazing as well. I'm always looking forward to going back!
KellyAnn Tsai: Highly recommend this place, especially if you live in the neighborhood. A membership here is nearly half the price of gyms in the area, without sacrificing quality. While it may not be as glossy as other, more expensive places, it has everything I need in a comfortable atmosphere. All equipment is clean and organized. There's a good array of cardio machines, strength training, weights, exercise balls, yoga mats, etc. They have lockers available for use, plus showers and even hair dryers. They also offer fitness classes and personal training. It can get somewhat crowded, but I usually go in the morning and am only one of maybe 5 other people. Plus, they offer a free 1-week trial, which is a really nice and convenient way to figure out if the gym works for you.Just a couple minor downsides. I do wish their schedule fit mine a little better...I prefer working out in the mornings, but most classes/personal training sessions take place midday or in the evenings (which is great for people who work in the area). They are closed on Sundays, but I think this is typical of most gyms around here, plus they are open for limited hours on Saturdays. I also wish they had a few more higher-weight dumbbells (for example they have 10, 15, and 20 lbs, but not 12.5 or 17.5)...but that's really a minor quibble.Basically, this is a very good gym at a very reasonable cost. Highly recommend!

Healthworks Back Bay: what do users think?
Diana Sideri: Awesome Group Ex classes!!! Beautiful facilty and friendly staff
FakeSpree -PUBG Mobile: Canceled my membership without notification And I had to leave in the middle of a snow storm because I couldn’t work out. Very inconsiderate and rude.
Mandy Hong: I think the photos don’t do the gym justice, it’s so clean and sleek inside. The locker room is huge with a spa pool, steam room and sauna. Although I wish the weight room had more regular weight machines, it’s perfect for free weight exercise/lifting and it also has a bunch of theraguns for use! Since it’s a women only gym, would be great for beginner female bodybuilders! Haven’t taken the classes cuz I booked an open gym session. So sad I’m only visiting, otherwise would love to join
ALEX MESA: Is a good place
Hazel Anne Salvador: Joined this gym one month ago. I have already taken a variety of their fitness classes including Body Pump, Athletic Conditioning, and Flow Yoga in addition to utilizing their equipment and exercise spaces. Their fitness instructors are fantastic. They are very encouraging and provide good critique to keep your form in check. I love this gym so much already. It's clean and well-kept. The locker room is spacious with lockers you can rent bi-weekly or ones you can use for free (I just use the free one), vanity stations (hair dryers, flat irons, lotion), changing rooms, etc. I joined the plan where I only use one location and pay bi-weekly. It is double the price I used to pay at Boston Sports Club, but it's worth it as I've noticed it's less crowded, much more well kept, and it's an all female inclusive gym.
Bostongal: I could not be more thrilled to have found this place. I really wanted to find somewhere I felt comfortable and a friend recommended this gym. The initial tour was great, there are a ton of classes to choose from that I will be starting, great machines, and sauna, hot tub + steam room. The lockers are really nice/clean too. Highly recommend and worth every penny! My only gripe is the validated parking isn’t that much but better than nothing. Thank you Healthworks for creating an empowering, kind and welcoming atmosphere for women to come work out! 💪🏻
Sarah Louise: EDIT 2 // CONTEXT: i believe he has since deleted his comment, but the manager had responded saying that research shows blah blah blahEDIT: mark, no amount of data and research gives you the right to coerce women into making decisions about their bodies. get over yourself.hmmm, an all womens gym that doesn’t respect the whole “my body, my choice” thing by continuing to require vaccination after the mandate has been lifted. we should all have a right to bodily autonomy. will not be going here in the future!
julie frey: Very nice gym for women. Clean, visually appealing, and never crowded.
Jazz Geez: I appreciate the flat irons, lotion, hot tub, sauna and steam room as a working woman it is my only relaxation time. The cleanest gym I have ever been to and no worrying about the stares of men. In addition the lockers come with an installed code to set so you don't need to bring a lock.
Emily Ryder: Absolutely love this gym - it is clean, spacious and I am excited to come here when I am in the city.
Katie P: Super clean, fair pricing and overall great environment for meeting fitness goals!
Deborah Douglas: Healthworks has always been an exemplary fitness gym, with great facilities, equipment, classes, trainers and teachers. I love the women-only culture, and admire the way HWX rose to the challenge of staying in business through the pandemic's early dark days. I've belonged to many gyms and worked with many personal trainers; no other facility comes close, and Carrie Cole is a superb trainer. An exceptional place offering an exceptional experience.
Kaitlin Reiss: Pretty expensive for a gym but I guess that's to be expected due to location. I've been going to this gym for about a year and definitely had some interesting hiccups along the way. I work in an office setting and typically go to the Back Bay location in Boston during my lunch hour. One day they announced that the water was being turned off in 5 minutes, as I'm dripping sweat in the middle of a workout. After racing to get in the shower, the water does turn off halfway through. The staff brought us bottles of water to finish getting soap out of our hair....During COVID, Healthworks allowed members to freeze their accounts during the closures. Great, they didn't pull a BSC and continue to charge when their doors were closed. However, they opened back up and immediately began re-charging my account, $45 bi-weekly. I called and asked to re-freeze my account, they were accommodating and said they could freeze until September but after that I would need a doctor's note confirming I'm high risk (?). However, even after getting the confirmation email that my account was frozen, I started getting WEEKLY charges of $45 onto my account.Called again, "oops our error, let us try again and refund you these payments". 2 weeks later and still no refund. I left a voicemail yesterday at 9 am and nobody called me back. I've called again today and went straight to voicemail. Healthworks if you're reading this, it would be great if someone can call me back!!!
Jackson Farrington: Nice to have a gym with all women. Staff is friendly. Facilities are clean.
Sam Lupacchino: Best gym in the area!!! Great value great staff
Diana Estrella: WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I tried to cancel my membership due to medical reasons and management made it nearly IMPOSSIBLE to do so.They did not accommodate my schedule and asked to go in person to the facility, when I did after work it turns out that none of the management member was available or present to help with my cancellation. I tried calling after my surgery and left voicemail and sent emails and the general manager or anyone go back to after several follow ups. All this, while still getting charged $49.99 (weekly). They have proved how incompetent this administrative team is due to lack of transparency, communication and follow up. I will make sure to NOT recommend this facility to my vast network in the Boston area. They literally are the epitome of unprofessionalism, and how establishment want to literally STEAL people's money and not being held accountable. Because clearly the establishment continues to withdraw money from my account and this team refuses to cancel my membership or engage in any form of communication. This is purely unethical behavior. Consumers be aware, for clarity sake these are the first name of the team I have been in contact but refuse to provide a communication with an update re my questions and concerns: Maggie, Jody, Elena. I wonder whether I will get a "owner response" once this review is posted, perhaps this is what it takes to get their attentions, after many attempts from my part even as I recover from surgery and still no response from NO ONE. Shame on them, for being completely unethical and for not issuing a refund and apology.
maddie weber: I love the group fitness classes! The personal trainers are so amazing here and a great resource to get back into my workout routine.
Alice: Very clean and friendly atmosphere. When I had health issues and had to cancel my membership the staff were accommodating and understanding. Also, great trainers with enthusiasm for clients.
Chelsey Solar: The facilities are beautiful, the environment is clean, and group fitness classes are good. However, this Boston and you can find that in a dozen gyms across the city. One star because of staff and administration. I attempted to cancel my membership over the phone because my work schedule has changed and it’s been very difficult for me to make use of the gym. I was informed that I need to make a trip in, in person to cancel. I attempted to discus with staff how this was an inconvenience and they continued to insist that the only way I can cancel is in person. Completely unacceptable. Would not recommend - there are easier gyms to work with in this town and if you’re looking for a new gym then I suggest skipping over this one.
Crystal Morgan: Great location. Variety of equipment. Good classes! Steam and sauna. Love coming here!
Bonnie Houlihan: Not a bad gym, but not worth the price vs other, better options in Boston. The reason you would go is if you felt strongly you'd rather not share a gym with men. Their amenities and machines don't stack up to other gyms. The massages and spa are not great.  Loads of treadmills though. The reason I'm writing this review is for my experiences at the Kid's Club and their poor handling of it. I dropped my daughter off for the first time and they didn't tell me to sign in (you make a reservation in advance so I was unaware you needed to), they didn't tell me they didn't change diapers. One person told me in advance of coming I could bring my frozen bottle, but when I picked her up they told me they had no idea how to heat it- even though I had told them again I had it when I dropped her off. She wasn't fed and had needed to be. There is no locked door or key card to get in and a huge column that obstructs the caretaker's view of the door. I literally could walk in and pick up a child without them seeing me. Anyway at the end of our first time my daughter was a complete wreck. They didn't call me when she started crying even though I had asked them to. One of the caretakers then asked me, "Is this Charlotte??" They had no idea who she was. How then did they even know I was her mother, especially after a complete staff change since I had dropped her off? I tried the kid's club about 7 times and had probably 3 good (eg normal) experiences. Once they told me they called the number I gave them 3 times and didn't get me. They said I gave them the wrong number, but when I checked with them they had the correct one and had apparently misdialed it 3 times. I'm just not sure how you trust someone to take care of your child if you can't trust them to place a call correctly.I contacted the manager both after my first experience and after my last few, before I ended my membership. Both times I was offered kid's club credits. After months of not feeling comfortable using the gym (because I could only use it if I had the club to watch my daughter), the best she would offer was about a $30 credit. Interestingly, her records showed that in 10 months I had only used the kid's club 4 times even though I had used it double that. Not good! Did this mean again if something had happened they wouldn't have a record of whose child it was? After my first experience I had suggested ways to make the club more secure that are standard in most daycares- an access card only moms have, at the very least a log where you can write the child's outfit down so they know which kid is which. Realize some kids may only come one time- or once a month, etc so there's no way the caretakers know the child or parent well enough to spot. There are also complete shift changes midday where mistakes can be made in recognizing the person who dropped them off may not be the same as the person picking them up. I suggested at least putting a bell on the door. Once I came in to get my daughter while the caretaker was in the bathroom with a child. If I hadn't made noise, I can't imagine she would have known I was ever there.Anyway, use it at your own risk. The price of $7 per visit is fantastic but it's cheap for a reason- you get what you pay for and honestly from my experiences, I'm not sure you even get that.

Barry's Boston Downtown: what do users think?
Rebecca K: Be warned: arrive with a large water bottle already full! This studio has no water bottle filler, so you have to ask staff to fill it for you behind the smoothie bar. It seems really odd that a luxury workout facility would not provide water for people to fill bottles, given the sweaty nature of the workout.Otherwise if you are extremely busy and don't want to think about your workout, this place is perfect. Show up a couple of times per week and you will get in great shape, as the workout includes strength training and cardio. It's great that you can "reserve" a spot in advance in case you want to be near a friend.
Liam: Thank you for being a staple of health in my life
Mandy Liao: I come once a week or so. The instructors are great - they’re very welcoming to first timers and will walk you through the class. I know I was intimidated the first time since Barry’s has a cult following! Renovations were recently made to the front but the locker rooms still desperately need a touch up. Half the lockers are only on one hinge and 2/4 showers in the women’s locker room aren’t working. And one of them has the worst water pressure that I feel like makes me stay in there longer since I can’t get soap off of me!
Jed Paul: The workout is challenging. 5/5
Alec Papazian: Best staff best people
MEF: My experience at this studio was disappointing. I’ve been to Barry’s studios around the world, and this was probably the worst.Starting with the workout… unfortunately, it wasn’t energetic and challenging like I’ve come to expect. The instructor (Greg) didn’t have great flow, the music was so-so, and the studio was way too hot.The locker rooms also felt dated and were missing items I’ve come to expect in Barry’s locker rooms (i.e. blow dryers).I’m a big fan of Barry’s and make an effort to visit new studios when I’m in a new city, but I wouldn’t recommend this studio or instructor to a friend.
Mark Catolico: Good class. Compared to the UK studios, the changing room facilities were not the best. Limited room to change, lockers not working, 3 shower cubicles, & toilet not clean.
Michelle Ai: Great Barry’s location.
Manpreet Kaur: Amazing workout with some of the best instructors!
Torrey Ah-Tye: Lots of points
Prachi Jain: If gentrification was a gym, it'd be Barry's. There was nothing special about the workout that warrants the price (I get it.. they take up prime real estate so their rents must be very high). The music was incredibly loud-I don't love having Justin Bieber blasted in my ears since there are like 8 speakers and all of them are next to the treadmills. Talking about treadmills--why am I paying someone to have me workout on the treadmill for half the class? Maybe accept less students per class, have them ALL workout on the ground, instead of switching back and forth between treadmill and bands/weights. This place sucks and clientele is pretend bougie.
Phu Mai: The best most efficient use of your time. Get in, run and lift for 50-60 minutes and leave drenched in sweat and feeling accomplished. Repeat as often as necessary to see real results. Caution: this is not for the faint-hearted so come willing to give it your all.
Daniel Poston: One of the greatest locker room facilities of any Barry's I've been to.
Gustavo Herrera: The workouts are challenging but not worth the price. The music is still extremely loud, way beyond OSHA and NIOSH recommended levels. Gyms need to understand that extremely loud music does not equal more motivation, it equals hearing impairment! For the Butts & Legs session, I asked Garrett (the girl) to turn the volume down a notch. To my surprise she said I CAN'T. Told me to get some earplugs instead. What a way to please customers... try wearing earplugs while sweating like a pig, it's so uncomfortable an not hygienic.
Mykola Po: Cool place, good classes, feeling fit after first workout
Ting Sung: Love this place!! Kicks my butt Everytime but I always leave feeling super accomplished!!
Arthur Penas: Great atmosphere, excellent juices
Michael Katz: I was bored with the gym and needed something fun, upbeat and yet still got me moving. Friend told me about Barry's and was hooked from the first session. Instructors are friendly, helpful and motivating - high-five as you enter and leave every class - and my favorite is Christina. It's an hour that flies by so quickly and you feel tired and good after each class. You can either split your time and do half treadmill and half floor exercises or spend the full hour on the floor using weights, bands and benches to work every muscle. I give each session a 10, but the locker room is small and overly crowded when one class is leaving and another starting - advice would be to come early to use the locker room when it's quiet and then stretch while you wait for your class.
Duncan O'Brien: Tough, but good. Excellent instructors and facilities. Well located.
Fergus Hurley: Believe their marketing: Best workout in the world!
Matthew Murphy: Best workout in Boston

South End Fitness Center: what do users think?
Steve Delaney: This place is fair it is easy going and it provides a meditative environment without it I'd be completely lost, the staff and security are real people, great people, mad respect to this place
Ian Mcmahon: Chronically short staffed, erratic hours. Old equipment.
Kim Cornelius: I think this place has been turned into a shelter for men.
Donna V: Best value in Boston. No frills but it has everything, it all works, there’s free parking, and I’m often the only one in the pool in the late morning. Hidden gem.
EJ x SB: Barely any weights if that's what you're looking for and the membership prices are way too overpriced and long of a commitment. They do have a pool and basketball court though. The neighborhood is as bad as any neighborhood could ever get
David Jones: Great facility with pool.
giovanni santiago: This place is awesome!
Daniela Klaz: Best indoor pool in Boston, but the rest of the place leaves something to be desired. The locker rooms are saunas, but not in a good way. The pool deck probably gets cleaned once a quarter. The staff are not always kind. But, it’s the cheapest membership pool in the city that doesn’t limit swim times.
Richard Nixon: Love love this little hide out gym. Not as fancy as the others, but its full basket ball court and Olympic pool..its perfect!!
Kris Corbett: Positive:Professionalism,QualityThe location of this gym is perfect for me, there is free parking nearby. Reasonable price, clean. Everything suits me perfectly!
Anthony G: Great place to get your workout session in
Josme Filing: This gym is perfect for me, especially for the student membership discount. Small but useful.
Stuart Armstrong: The basketball court here is top notch. The weight room is small, but if you go in the morning, there is no problem with crowds. Also, this is no Equinox, but SEFC is one twelfth the price of Equinox and does the job quite well.
Samantha Defreitas: I love the swimming pool
Christopher Cavender: Gets the job done and is relatively quiet
Nelson Carpentier: Great gym without bells and whistles. Can't be the price, especially in the south end. Free parking is nice too. Highly recommend it
Scotty D: Best pool in Boston .... The guy that runs the place uses the pool so you know it's kept up 💯 .... Awesome spot
Damon Neach: Don't remember but nice
S DS: Affordable and conveniently located. Could benefit from upgraded equipment and more space. But overall great place.
Edwin Melendez: Great basketball court but small work out area. Another perk, parking is free if you're there under two hours.
GEORGE Vondohlen: Heavy bag, speed bag, swimming pool, plenty of equipment and free weights.

Beacon Hill Athletic Clubs: what do users think?
Asif Iqbal: Excellent machines and environment with welcoming staff
Jack Curtin: Awesome place. Everything you need, good hours.Excellent staff - really great people who know the ins & outs of physical training & can also provide plenty of direction when it comes to diet & living a healthy lifestyle. I always enjoy my trips to the Beacon Hill Athletic Club (BHAC) & its chill atmosphere. Great job guys!!Also, I'd like to give a quick shout out to James, Maura, & Alejandro!! They all rock & are always kind and willing to chat. They always make you feel welcome & special. In my humble opinion, and if I were in charge, I'd do everything in my power to keep these three people happy(I think a pay raise for each of them is an appropriate & very well-deserved first step) as it's not easy to find such great employees. Keep up the great work, and I look forward to seeing everyone at BHAC very soon!!This is a good place with good people. And when it comes to equipment & classes, BHAC is really great. You can box, lift weights, take a Spin class, a strength training class(the classes are included with your membership), or run on the treadmill. And when you're ready to call it a day, BHAC offers complimentary showers & a steam room, which is a nice ending after some good exercise. I've lost about 25-30lbs in the past few months. And the nice thing is they make it easy to exercise.Thank You for your attention, and if you think you're up to it, do yourself a favor & start working out. I promise you will not regret signing up!!
shantha kumar: Good place to workout! Been going here for about a month now, ticks all the boxes.
Talal Hossain: Really cool class options with great instructors!
Felicia Andresen: Good gym with very friendly and helpful staff. The machines are a little outdated.
James Valentin: Great and clean environment with lots of machines and spaces to work with. Friendly staff and cool classes. Definitely recommend!
Caitlin Ridgewell: This gym isn't ritzy but it's got everything you need. Tons of treadmills, bikes, ellipticals. Almost every machine you could want. Plenty of free weights for everyone. A room where you can work out with a little more privacy, and a yoga/fitness class studio that hosts lots of different kinds of classes. The women's locker room has plenty of lockers and a steam room. The personal trainers are great.I go during off hours so I never have trouble getting what I need to done. I'm new to working out in the gym and was initially hesitant about it all but I feel comfortable here. The only thing that is a problem is the parking on Comm Ave and surrounding neighborhoods but hey, it isn't the gym's fault we live in Boston. Highly recommend this place!
Athena H.: People are nice, the gym environment isn't hella "BRO-Y" and the staff are very nice and friendly. The equipment is a bit on the older side and a decent percentage of the machines have some wear-tear.There are plenty of roomy lockers, bring your own lock. There are a couple showers and a steam room. They aren't anything flashy but they are there. The classes are good and loved, zumba, yoga, spin, strength training etc.It is pricy for what you are getting but unlike the larger gyms there are very clear costs and no hidden fees or sneaky charges. I will never go back to the larger gyms for that reason. A friend of my was moving and it took him 2 seconds to end his membership and no fees after that. That clarity is worth every penny.
Owen Murphy: Great facility and atmosphere. Really enjoy working out here and would recommend it to those looking for a new gym.
Kayla Carpenter: Very clean, great staff and has all the workout machines I need!
Andrew Marinaro: Friendly staff, always clean, never a wait for machines. 5/5 stars!
sumeet shetty: I have been going to bhac for few years now and it is great not just for workouts but also offers classes for kick boxing, yoga, Zumba, etc which is also included in the membership. The trainers and frontdesk are also really good, down to earth and help guide you with any questions/concerns you might have.
Rachel Clevenger: It’s got exactly what I need. All the machines and free weights.
Xin Song: BHAC in Brighton is very large and has all the gym equipment I need. I don’t have to wait long for equipment even during peak hours. Staff is also very nice!
Varun Sudarshan: A nice gym with great equipment
Amanda Smart: I am new to joining Beacon Hill Athletic Club, but am really enjoying it. I am getting a lot out of their equipment, and it’s working on muscles I did not even think much about before.I really like how convenient their location on Commonwealth Ave is!
Anner Game: Is a good gym
Juan Juan: Its a gym. Gets away with mediocrity since its the only game in town. Too busy, too expensive, too few squat racks. Cardio focused. You get access to other Beacon Hill gyms but the others are in an abysmal state. Make sure to cancel your membership two months in advance cus they can and will take an extra free month from you.
Naomi Musman: Super convenient location, great staff, and never too busy to get a good workout in!
Jillian Davis: I've been going to BHAC for almost a year now and it has been a really positive experience overall. The gym is very clean and the staff are really friendly. They have all of the equipment and machines that I enjoy using. The only reason I am leaving is because I am moving. I'll miss this gym!

Beacon Hill Athletic Clubs: what do users think?
Gaby Arcand: Johnny is a great trainer and the staff is really nice!
Tyler Racine: Joined this gym about a month ago after moving to the area. Great gym that has everything you need to have a productive workout. Never gets too crowded and all of the staff here are very friendly.
Janay Boykin: Please
Kellie Taborsak: Gio and Luke are genuinely the best! They are why I’m leaving 5 stars. I recommend training here if you live in Eastie but please don’t go when I do because I prefer an empty gym 🙂
Mike Konzel: Great environment to workout in. Friendly staff and very clean equipment. Anything you need they have there. Would highly recommend to anyone in the area.Gio working at the front desk has been nothing but accommodating with anything needed!
Jhon Coleman: I would write an amazing review but I’m selfish, I’d like to keep this place to myself and not share to avoid overcrowding like every other gym in Boston has.
Antonietta Alvarez: I love this gym. The environment and the people are chill, I feel very comfortable working out here. The equipment is good and there’s always a space open, I haven’t had to wait to use anything (barely!).
Denise Wiseman: This is a straightforward, easy gym. Joined when I moved to the neighborhood, and it was a really quick sign up process. I would suggest askinig about disicounts for where you work or for longer-term commitments. A lot of reviews remark that it is small, which is completely true - this gym is basically a single large room (except for an extra spin room on the side), it's never crowded or too busy to matter. All in all, a simple, affordable gym that has exactly what you need!
S GH: Pros:Friendly staffCons:Lockers don't have any keys and are not cleanRestrooms are out of toilet paper (most of the time)The sanitizing wipes are not recharged frequentlyyou couldn't find any dumbbell during the rush hours (6-8 pm) since there is only one pair for each weightTypes of equipment are basic and cheap and they miss lots of essentials75% percent of the people don't wear a mask (staff included)The cancelation policy! The music is not suitable for workoutPricy for the quality provided
Frank Velasquez: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityExcellent gym. Friendly staff, never crowded and it is very clean. Limited selection on things, however, if you’re an experienced gym goer, you will find alternatives without a problem.
EDWARD LOMBARDO (Eddie): Clean, staff freinly, everything you need for a good work out
aditya patil: Overall great gym but too loud music. Difficult to hear through my headphones in middle of loud spanish music. Would appreciate if they lower the volume and keep it decent rather than sounding like a pub
prakash garg: It's a nice cute little gym!
Rafael Marinez: My son likes this gym so much. He was at the Y in eastie , and it wasn't working for him . He can't wait to go back once is open. My other son wants go join as well.
Michael Bove: This gym is great! Very clean and the staff is friendly. I highly recommend this place!
Natalie Benavides: I am so lucky to have found this place on my walk home! I saw the sign out front “gym now open” and decided to pop in. The front desk, Sam, gave us a tour and was very helpful in answering any questions we had. I go to the location on meridian. It has a great set of machines, squat racks, free weights, lockers to conveniently store my book bag on the way home and best of all it’s super clean! Good price per month and staff are friendly.
Kristina Xega: As a new member of this gym I could not be happier with how friendly the staff is and how clean/new all the equipment are. There is a lot of space around (never overcrowded) which many other gyms lack, a wide variety of equipment and they provide clean towels for those who always forget their own like me. The best part of this gym and the reason why I first decided to join is Charlene Peters – one of the best fitness trainers I have ever met. She truly challenges and motivates her clients and helps them achieve the results they hope for (I have experienced it first hand). She teaches various classes such as spin, kettle bell, barre or a combination which makes your workout not only challenging but also fun. Her clients’ loyalty to her says a lot about how wonderful Charlene is, not only as a trainer but also as a person!
Meghan Partlow: Beacon Hill Athletic Club in East Boston is great! It is easy to get to and is just a short walk from the Maverick train station. The staff are friendly, the facility is clean, and the equipment is new/updated. I highly recommend this gym!
Chester Knipple: Great facility, great staff, very clean
Kalyn Flournoy (Weight Loss Travel Gains): Honestly, I was taken aback by the price at first but 1, it's actually low compared to other gyms in the area and 2, it's more than worth it. Brand new facility, all of the machines are in immaculate condition and are clean, which is important to/for me. Outside of the wide array of machines the gym offers, they recently added a ton of new fun, yet challenging classes. There are a few trainers at the gym but two of my favs are Charlene and Caro. Caro offers a bootcamp class! Charlene offers a kettle class, cycling, barre and much more! I was at a plateau in my weight loss journey and a month with Charlene I was able to lose 6lbs and can see a ton of muscle forming!
Hilary Saunders: Great staff, clean facilities, and towel service! Not to mention this location has all the equipment you would need, including a TRX system. They offer multiple classes and the ones taught by Charlene are bound to give you the results you want. Highly recommend!
