The Massage School: what do users think?
Crislisa Bethancourt: Great massages for $40!!!
CURVY LIFE: The best $40.00 massages ever! Cheap massages, but high quality ❤️
Phinex Phinex: Great experience !!!
Brian Yun: Great experience for the price of it!Someone in my work posted a flyer for a 1-hr massage for $40. So I called to book an appointment. Chances are you'll have to leave a voice mail and they'll give you a call the same day. Its only Wednesday, Friday and Saturdays.Once you get there, its like a lobby and the receptionist will give you towel and then the student missuses will grab you once they are ready. Note that this is a school so you don't get a private room. It's a dimmed open space with about 10+ massaging beds. You'll have the privacy of a changing room.I would recommend this 100% if you're looking for affordable massages.
Diane Dawkins: I was damaged in this place. I ended up with a deep gash on my back, the student that did it knew she did it and didn't make herself accountable for what she did.
Luv Resrch: I totally agree with the positive comments below. The administrative staff is professional, accommodating and personable, as are the students. Always a special treat.
Rachel Wahlert: Positive:Communication,ValueGreat service! Worked wonders on my hips. You'll likely get a voicemail when you call but they're great at calling you back!
Jesse Miller: I had Sophie who gave an excellent full body massage! And for $40 (before tip) for an hour, the price is unbeatable. There’s also free street parking right along the street which was convenient.
Lisa McCalla: Great massages at great prices. Definitely can't beat that! Comfortable environment each batch of students are different. I have been blessed to have really good students. The overall services are great. From administrator pleasant and warm greeting to the goodbye. Very professional for a school. I do really like it there and miss the services
Deborah C: For a $35 massage (plus a tip! :)), I would definitely come back.I had Rachel, who was super sweet and made sure I was comfortable, especially since it was my first time there. Like other reviewers said, it takes place in a room with other people. I probably would've been uncomfortable but she did a great job of keeping me properly covered the whole time. The booking process was relatively easy - left a voicemail with my preference for date and time and got a call back the next day.
Julia Hubert: I had a very negative experience at the Massage School of Boston this last time. A few months ago, I had a negative experience with a student who caused me significant discomfort. I shared this with the man at the front desk, and he explained that he could not guarantee any particular student to a client. This past time that I went, I was assigned to this same student, and I asked to have another student. Both him and the student became upset, but he allowed me to have another student for my massage. As I was leaving, I apologized for the situation and asked if I could have the woman’s name so I could ask not to have her when booking my future appointments. The man at the front desk said that what I did was very negative and that he was hesitant to ever book me again. It would’ve been much more reasonable for him to work with me rather than close the door in my face like that. Very poor customer service.
Kayla Smith: The man who appears to run the place but in reality “works the front desk” has serious issues. The owners are aware of his behavior but they don’t seem to care that he berates students and clients alike. His attitude can change on a dime, he is a very angry little man.
Samantha LaForgia: Boston (South end) -- it was great! Yes it is a community concept (all the massage tables are in a room), but that is OK ... I had a great massage--asked if pressure was good throughout and it is nice because you are able to give the students feedback! Great stuff and good learning at a good price!I loved Miranda.. I'll be back for sure!
Vik Y: The only massage place to go to.
Heidy: On 7/2 my friends and I booked a massage and were very disappointed with the service we received. I was unable to get my massage that day because I was stuck in typical Boston traffic. My friends went any way and asked if they could get a refund for my massage—the least they could say was “No” but they asked just to be sure. The man at the front desk was very rude and unprofessional and yelled at my friends. He said we had “wasted a student’s credit.” I’m sure cancellations happen all the time, but he was unprofessional to say the least. It’s disappointing that the front desk person didn’t know how to be respectful and approachable. Take your money and time elsewhere.
James Bacon: Definitely worth the $30 price for an hour massage. No private room but worth it if you don’t mind. A little annoying / difficult to book given the phone tag, but the guy who does it is super friendly and accommodating and does his best to get back to you quickly.
Rand Chaqmaqchee: So bad people working there specifically the admission. terrible experience
Jon Lee: Awesome place. Unbeatable price for professional quality. Should mention that the massage is given in an open (dimly lit) room with lots of other people - but that's not a problem at all because all I ask for is a good massage. Would highly highly recommend!
Tegan Kehoe: Until yesterday, I really liked this place, and hoped to make it an at least monthly routine. I've had some great massages and some disappointing ones there, but that makes sense for students, and the price is right, especially since regular professional massages are out of the budget for me. However, I had a bad experience with a massage yesterday, enough so that a staff member (I believe her name was Mara) noticed and asked what she could do to help, and listened. She was great, she went above and beyond. On my way out, Scott, who runs the desk and I believe is the manager or owner, asked if it was anything he should know about, so I gave him a summary (probably more rambling than I intended, but still short, maybe two sentences). All I expected was an "I'm sorry you feel this way" or something to that effect. Instead, he talked about the fact that they're students, you can't expect them to know how to react to every situation yet, etc.I didn't disagree with much of what he was saying, but I thought that he had wanted the information about why I was disappointed by the student, since he had asked. I told him as much, and he doubled down, elaborating on their lack of experience. Part of what had upset me was the fact that the student seemed very freaked out by the fact that I cried a little on the massage table, and seemed to be trying to get me to stop for his own sake, rather than mine. I had already told Scott this, and so when he went on about them not being experienced I said something along the lines of "I don't expect perfect professionalism, I just hoped for a little basic human kindness." That really upset him, and he told me I was attacking his student's character (I didn't intend to, I just wanted to express my concern about his behavior). He also suggested I get help for whatever issues I had (yes, I had cried in public, but that's not that uncommon in massage clients, and not really an appropriate thing to say in an already tense conversation with a stranger / customer). At this point, I really didn't know what to do, because I really liked The Massage School, and wanted him to give me a reason to come back, a simple apology, for example. I should have cut my losses and left, but I guess I was overly optimistic. I told him that I had hoped to become a regular (I've been there five times) but now I had concerns, not because of the student but because he was reacting so defensively after he had asked for the information. He said that I was the one being defensive.I repeated the concerns that I had, stupidly hoping for some kind of at least perfunctory apology. Scott told me that I wasn't welcome back. I don't know what I did to merit that other than take up more of his time than he wanted and tell him true, mostly politely-worded things he didn't want to hear; until the end of the conversation I was shaky but moderately quiet. I stood to leave but tried to restate why I was disappointed before I went. He interrupted me a few times until I said, "I'll leave as soon as I finish my sentence." At that point I was speaking at regular volume, rather than the semi-hushed tones of the waiting room of the massage studio, and I tried to tell him once more that his behavior was much more concerning than the student's. I admit I wasn't exactly concise, but it was a regular run-on sentence, nothing out of the ordinary for someone tired and frustrated. Scott raised his voice above mine while I was still speaking, got up, and physically escorted me out (not touching me, but walking close to me while angrily pointing). The whole interaction took maybe three to five minutes, which I know is a long time to spend with an upset customer, but the waiting room was empty and I wasn't aggressive, just more like stunned with a quavery voice. I am very sad to lose my favorite massage place, but I would not be returning, even if Scott hadn't told me I wouldn't be allowed. All I wanted was an "I'm sorry you had that experience."
Paulie Driver: Hanna gives a great massage

I can not say enough how wonderful the massage was, even areas i did not know had knots or tension are significantly improved.I highly recommend Joe if you want a professional and effective massage experience. The studio is lovely and inviting, and Joe's massages are wonderful! He is definitely not afraid to dig deep, and I'm always sore the next day, but I feel a million times better after he works his magic. I'm also totally impressed that he still remembered who I was even after a year between visits.
Ligia Paixão: Great location, awesome service. I had back pain and got better after his massage. I am very thankful!
Priyadarshini Kumar: My massage was great...very relaxing. I would definitely go back.
Greta Heissenberger: The location was convenient and Joe was great!I asked him to massage my feet as well and we ran out of time but he did them anyway! Bonus feet!
Kristen Lewis: Every now and then I treat myself to a massage from Joe and it always surpasses my expectations. The studio is conveniently located and the space is serene and relaxing. I always leave feeling relaxed.
Alida Hecht: I love when I have a chance to get into the city and get a massage from Joe. He gives the best massages I have ever had and has ruined the occasional vacation resort massage - they never can compare!

The Boston Bodyworker: what do users think?
SUN SOOK CHUNG: They're great
Don Nolin: A serene experience. The massage was fantastic. The therapist adjusted the intensity to match my poison levels. String massage without feeling like getting crushed.
Ian Root: lots of great therapists here
Katherine Adler: My therapist was incredible!
Tom: Great!
Omar Muakkassa: Great massages from here, much more sports-oriented. William is awesome.
Lynne Becker: 24/7 service. Experience and technical abilities are spot on for any muscle issue! Go!!
Scott Shedeck: Really great! The massage therapist listened to where I was hitting and do used on those areas. It's been several weeks now without a sore back. Can't afford to go often but will definitely return
Ethan Walling: Great masseurs, friendly and cozy office
Bianca May: Great custom needs massage
Daya Puls: I have been working with Boston Bodyworker for many years. The staff of massage therapists have always been professional and personable. They have been able to be an integral part of my wellness team. I highly recommend.
David Schmidt: Absolutely horrible -- It's hard to imagine a worse experience than I had.1) "Therapist" hadn't read the form you are required to fill out before the session, so I went over where my pain issues were before the massage started.2) Despite that discussion "therapist" asked "what side was hurting?" when the massage began. So he didn't read what I wrote or listen to what I said.3) Shortly into session "therapist" declared himself "feeling faint" and just left. No massage, no nothing. Painful area was literally untouched.4) Manager waited over 24 hours before calling to apologize -- while laughing about it! It's really hard to see an apology as sincere if the person is laughing. Maybe it was out of embarrassment but it was highly unprofessional and inappropriate nonetheless.5) To make up for this disaster, I was told that if I PAY them for another massage, they'd add half an hour to the session. Seriously??? I need to pay them so they can make up for their horrible staff? Don't think so - I won't be back.
Susan T: I've had 5-7 massages there over 5 years because they take health care spending card but i almost always regret it. only 2 of the therapist were good They aren't there anymore. Won't go back. Fong Massage is 100x more effective
Patrick: Still haven't found a better body worker. Didn't realize how good I had it until I moved. For me, this wasn't a place for Zen bulls**t, or questionable techniques, but practical and effective body work that complements and improves quality of life from the office to the gym. Worth every penny.
Mat: Great professional atmosphere in a very convenient location. Kerri is awesome!
Lynn Julian: The owner, Drew Freedman, and front desk staff are very friendly and the treatment staff, highly educated. Everyone goes above and beyond to help meet your needs as quickly and efficiently as possible. Numorous times, one of my technicians came in with new, specialized techniques they had researched just to use on ME!
Penelope Hauck: With the Boston Marathon coming right around the corner, I took in a massage and it was outstanding. The massage therapist was knowledgable and explained how certain trigger points worked to release tension. I would highly recommend going here and will certainly make it more a part of taking care of myself.
Jordana Fein: I went to see Janet for a prenatal massage. She was excellent and really helped my sore lower back, neck and shoulders. She even showed me stretches that I should be doing during pregnancy and beyond. I booked my next appointment for next month! Would definitely reccomend :)
Sheryl Pace: AMAZING massage from Richard! He really knows the body, muscles, and understands what and how certain habits i.e. bad posture etc. lead to other problems. I have never in my life had such a perfect massage. I am most definitely going back. Thank you!
Michael Gillette: I couldn't be happier with the quality of therapy I received here. I went in thinking I needed to have a deep tissue massage to relieve thoracic pain and improve mobility. James had the knowledge and was honest enough to recommend that I get myofascial release therapy instead. And WOW. The results from just one hour were better than the results I've had at other places with weeks of repeated visits. I already booked another appointment and intend to be a regular there. I feel better than I have in a long time thanks to Boston Bodyworker and James.
susan scott: I received a massage from Solange and felt so much better the next day. She was very attentive and instructive in giving me stretches to help improve tightness in my lower back. I would highly recommend Boston Bodyworkers and Solange in particular.Susan Scott

Be Well Boston - Massage Therapy: what do users think?
Gigi Gunderson: Writing this review after a truly fantastic deep tissue massage with Chad - he took a detailed intake to figure out why I was in and used a variety of modalities to treat my pain. I walked out feeling 10x better than when I walked in and will be recommending this place to any athlete looking for a professional, top-quality sports massage in Boston
Rebecca Morrissey: I came into Be Well this morning with a painful lower back and sciatic pain. Priscilla was absolutely fantastic, she really focused on this and I left feeling so much better - moving more freely, relaxed and the pain almost gone. Thank you!
Tyler Gibbs: I was in town just for the day and decided to book a session. From initial greeting, it was clear that Priscilla values client comfort and has a passion for understanding and improving overall health. I was anticipating just a basic therapeutic massage, but once we began, I was inspired to share some of my pain points with Priscilla. She set about addressing them and sharing some of her knowledge along the way. During the session itself, I was experiencing some relief and increased ease of motion, smirking quietly to myself in relative disbelief at the immediacy. Bravo, Priscilla and Be Well Boston!
Sarah: Eric has been great!
Jordan Sigg: Positive:Professionalism,QualityEric is amazing! I’ve had a lot of massages in my life and this was the best I’ve ever had in terms of pain relief. Eric is incredibly knowledgeable and goes above and beyond for the client. My shoulders haven’t felt this good since I was a kid!
Katheryn Mora: I’ll never forget how much this massage therapy help me! Thank you, Katrina:):) you literally have an amazing energy, your place is welcoming and it has everything I needed to feel so much better. Also, Thanks to my lovely friend who got me the best 60 min gift certificate! :):):)
A Baje: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityAngel Lopez is one of the best massage therapist I have been to. I've been to him several times thus far and he us very intuitive to my needs and how to address them.
Kate Shapiro: A prenatal massage with Katrina is the BEST THING! She really knows what she’s doing and knows how to safely administer a massage that will actually improve back or neck pain. The cushion/pillow that allows a pregnant woman to safely lay face down makes all the difference, too. Using wedges even when you’re on your back makes the whole experience very tailored to suit a woman well into the 3rd trimester.
Nicholas Manganaro: I had a great experience and I will go back.
Emily O'Brien: I was able to book Katrina last minute from a cancellation, and I was beyond happy with my massage. It is absolutely baffling to me how many massage therapists are just ok, or not very good at what they do (and even fewer who are good at prenatal massage), so when you find one that “gets it” and is as skilled as Katrina, it’s like hitting the lottery! She is amazing, hit all the right spots, and I will definitely be back.
Bette Skandalis: Jim takes away pain! Professional operation.
RussellKech: Great people, excellent service and treatment!
Alexia Cesar: Chad is a LIFESAVER. Before seeing him I had worked with doctors & physical therapists for months to try to get rid of the sciatic pain preventing me from sitting and exercising. All to no effect.I had one session with Chad and he correctly identified the source of the problem as my piriformis rather than my back and gave me immediate relief. I went from not being able to sit for more than 10 minutes to being able to sit for an hour or more within a single session. He is thoughtful and truly cares about getting to the root of your problem. I can't recommend him more highly!
Rani Wise: I've been looking for a go-to massage therapist in Boston for a long time. While I love a relaxing experience, what I really needed was someone who could help with the knots and pains that disrupt my life. After several massages that were either too gentle or too deep (and my husband was no longer willing to assist), I FINALLY found Caroline at Be Well Boston! She gets it. She understands referred pain, working on where the misalignment or muscle imbalance actually is, compared to just where the pain is presenting. After really messing up one of my shoulders, I booked three consecutive appointments (one per week) to deal with the problem and feel 100% back to normal. Now visiting between 4-6 weeks to maintain is exactly what I need to continue to feel good without extreme issues. If you're going to spend money on a gym membership or looking for post-PT bodywork, you should add Caroline to your regiment (she may even treat you to some Dave Matthews Band during the session!) I am looking forward to referring her to my friends in Boston. She's the best.
B. Fischer: I have been seeing Jason for years for deep tissue massage. Jason is fantastic! He is well versed in massage therapy and is the only person I see to alleviate my lower back and muscle issues. Thank you Jason for, yet, another wonderful massage!
Darryn Campbell: I've been going to Be Well for almost 4 months, seeing mainly Janelle but have seen several others including Katrina and Becca. Picked the place totally at random based on proximity to work, but don't think I could've possibly made a better choice. Every therapist I've seen (and I'm confident it holds for the rest, just can't speak from experience) really cares about her clients' health and wellness, and tries to understand as much as she can about your lifestyle to help diagnose and attack your physical issues. Janelle especially is fantastic! I have deep-rooted shoulder and neck tension that causes frequent, incapacitating headaches, and since I started regularly seeing Janelle, they are so rare I couldn't even say the last time I had one. I've seen lots of massage therapists over the years, but never have I had someone this therapeutically effective while still managing to make the experience relaxing and enjoyable. I would see her every week if I could, but I'm amazed at the progress she's been able to make on a bi-weekly basis. Highly recommend Be Well and Janelle in particular.
Tamaki West: My husband and I have been going to Be Well for years since they opened (but we were seeing Jim, the owener even before). As I am from Japan where you can get good massage everywhere and was always very picky about it in the US...but I tried Jim years ago and he really met my expectation! Jim has helped with my tension headache, neck and shoulder pains, back pains, my husband's super hard shoulder pains, Bell's palsy, lower back pains, tendonitis, and more. The great thing about Jim (and Be Well's philosophy) is to teach you what you can do to prevent the pain you have (how to do the stretch for certain muscle). He is not only interested in getting rid of your pain but also working with you not to get the pain again or to keep the benefit of the treatment as long as you can.I have also seen Katrina for pre-natal massage. I went to her while I was pregnant when I needed to get my achy pregnant body treated, and after I had a baby. She knows how to work with delicate pregnant women's body physically and mentally (and post prenatal) as well as very stiff muscles in non-pregnant related cases, which my husband can attest well.Other therapists at Be Well were great as well. We had almost everyone work on us before as we sometimes have urgent needs and make a last minute appointment with whoever is available. They all have helped us with our muscles. You just need to tell them what you like (deep or soft, or any particular request you might have) and they will accommodate whatever your needs are.I get very thirsty after each treatment at Be Well, which is a good sign of getting detoxed by their deep tissue massage - I have to drink tons of water every time.Jim and Katrina really care about your well-being and they practice that with their thoughtfulness and a sense of humor. We highly recommend Be Well.
Gerdette Armour: The best massage place in Boston! I'm pretty fussy when it comes to a massage, I know a quality massage when I get one! These guys are awesome, they really know their stuff. I've recommended their services to friends and family...they always come back with rave reviews! Beautiful space, professional and extremely knowledgeable staff! The best!!
Pat Bair: Ya know how sometimes you can just tell whether or not you are in good hands? Two minutes into my initial conversation with Jessica, I knew that I came to the right place. The whole experience here was terrific. I recently had my first session with Jessica. She was sincerely interested in understanding what was bothering me, offered her expertise and guided our conversation to reach alignment on what would be best for me. The work she did on me loosened up my body and put me into a dream-like trance (you know what I'm talking about if you've had a great massage). After the session, she explained typical reasons why my lower back gets tight and demonstrated a few stretches that I now do on the regular. When I received a follow-up email with descriptions and images of the stretches Jessica went over with me, I was completely hooked. Not only is this incredibly caring, but also so appreciated since I was too out of it after my session to fully grasp how best to maintain my lower back. Absolutely recommend Be Well Boston.
Jonathan Lawrence: Be Well Boston is a phenomenal place to receive clinical massage. I have been a regular client of Be Well Boston (working with Jim Memory) since it opened in 2009, and worked with Jim for a year before that, bringing my tenure with Jim to four years.I have found my experience to be nothing short of great each and every time I return. I am a runner and a cyclist and initially found Jim while trying to treat a terrible case of ITBS (eventually requiring surgery). Without Jim's expert care, I would not be able to lead the active lifestyle that I enjoy. I found on my "medical journey" that it is very difficult to find therapists/doctors/etc. that are able to treat unusual injuries. Jim is one of those people, and I have stuck by him ever since. He diagnoses the problem, gets to work, and gives me all the information I need to understand the injury and treatment. His knowledge of his profession is incredible - he has helped me with EVERY issue that I have had (and I've had a lot!)The location is great and the space is really comfortable and welcoming.I recommend Be Well Boston without hesitation. Over the years I have referred many friends and family and everyone has been blown away by the level of treatment received (so I know it's not just me that thinks this highly of Be Well Boston!). That's the true testament to the team of therapists - everyone I know who's gone has been glad that they did.

Manna Massage: what do users think?
Elisee LaBrecque: I have been going to see Anna every month for years and I am so grateful I found her! Her treatments are highly effective at relieving the hip pain I have from sitting at a computer too long. Recently I injured my shoulder and she was able to identify and treat several muscles that were causing my pain. Do yourself a favor and schedule an appointment with her. You will be very glad you did!
Dalya Kent: One of the best!I would not go anywhere else.
Bruce Richardson: I just left Anna's office for treatment of a sore back. I feel completely transformed. Besides great treatment, she took a lot of time to explain what I had done and offered some suggestions to make sure I avoid hurting it again. This was only my second visit to her. The last time was a few years ago when I was suffering from a bad case of sciatica. The next day I was leaving for a business trip to Singapore. I would have cancelled the trip if it weren't for Anna's magic.Going to Manna is going to be a monthly goal after today. I think we could all use a little preventive maintenance.
Arlene Lehane: Been a client for years! Can't tell you how much Anna has helped mewith neck and shoulder pain. Highly recommend her!
Bill Sailorman: Anna is a terrifically knowledgeable practitioner of her art. I have done various kinds of "massage therapy" through the years - but nothing as effective as Anna. I believe what she does would be called myofascial release. In any case, her goal is to free up the relative motion between muscles via deep tissue massage aimed at releasing the fascia adhesions. I confess to a certain degree of skepticism before seeing her - but the results were dramatic. Check out The Fuzz Speech by Dr Gill Hedley on YouTube for some background on the concept. For me, she dramatically improved my ROM and pain in my hip and knee.
Joe Barker: I always wonder with a massage from someone I have not been to before. Well worth it! Probably one of the best massages I have ever had. Not a generic massage, but more targeted to my individual needs - BIG PLUS! Felt comfortable and got a very good massage from Anna. Very experienced and seems to have a thorough knowledge of the body. I would recommend her.

Jennifer Juenemann: I had an Ayurvedic Consultation with Dr. Shah and it was so educational and informative. I learned so much about my unique constitution and what I should be eating and avoiding based on her evaluation. Would recommend 1000%.
Holly Austin: I did an Ayurvedic Consultation at this school last summer. I went into it not knowing a lot about Ayurveda, and I left with a few really tangible ways to modify my daily routine and diet (e.g. putting less ingredients in my smoothies, cooking veggies for salad instead of eating all raw ones, etc.) and with a desire to learn even more about the science! The space was clean and cozy, the Ayurvedic Health Counselor I met with was super easy to talk to, and her follow-up was very much appreciated.
