Finesse Pastries: what do users think?
Ayon Ibrahim: So far I’ve only tried the macarons but I like em! The staff are always friendly and courteous.
Tim Hasler: Wife and I took a class with Chef Chelsea and it was amazing! Also the end product turned out great and tasted amazing! Beyond the class, I've had Finesse Pastries multiple times and always love them. Definitely the best macarons I've ever had!
Sabrina Desir: Great bakery. I loved the details on the cake and macaroons.
Desiree Jean: I order my daughter’s cake for her 3rd birthday party on June 1st for July 10, 2021(date of event). I got a call on my way to pick up the cake saying her cake was damaged and unrepairable. Coincidentally the driver got into an accident and my child didn’t have a cake for her party that was in an hour. (The driver wasn’t delivering it to me he was coming from Somerville to the Boston location idk why but whatever) I had to scramble and buy a cake from a local grocery store. First time using this company definitely my last. Just disappointing.
Rebecca Fox: nice place but their food has a bit of expensive
Brittin Najjar: Great macaroons with great service. Lower than average prices for what is usually an expensive dessert. Still is a bit, but a bit less than other places, especially with the 6 and 12 boxes. Lots of different flavors to choose from. I would totally recommend.
Christina Kuntz: Wonderful French macarons. I had 3 different seasonal flavors and they were delicious.
Simonne Valdez: Vibrant colors and delicious flavor macarons.look how good these look! They taste good, make sure to eat them fresh!
Brit: We love the French Macarons. SO GOOD
Mia Peach: I'm here to share my concern of an incident that happened yesterday 9/29/2018. The place is still busy around 3:40 when a stall refrigerator fell on a female store associate. An associate from the stall next door was trying to squeezing through her way and tilted the fridge (~80in tall, 1 door, color silver). She noticed that the fridge was moving, by the time she turned around and attempted to grab it, fridge lost balance and fell on a young girl who was standing about 2-3 ft away, facing against it (towards customers). Girl got sandwiched between the tilted fridge and glass display of her stall for a few seconds before some guys from the store helped her out. She stood still, barely moved her shoulders or lips - she remained calm and kept quiet the whole time. Some 20 people witnessed it and instantly gathered around when a green-topped, short hair lady (looks like a supervisor) announced that she’s going to call “manager on-site”. Manager came before she called and the short-hair lady assured everyone that this would be taken care of. Some people in the crowd suggested calling 911 and shared their concern about work place injury but the manager didn’t seem to call anybody. In fact, two actions were observed in the next 20 minutes - fridge was lifted back up by two guys (there was a dent on the top of the fridge), and the girl was given an ice pack. The short-hair lady was with her for a few more minutes, the girl next door apologized to her. The manager (also a young lady) was contacted by two female witnesses afterwards, manager kept on nodding during the conversation. After they have left, manager did not call or get back to the girl in the accident. I understand that the girl needs to keep her job and didn’t want to make a scene, but it is also important for a victim to be able to hold on to some witness in case more severe medical issues are identified later on. I don’t care for the actions taken by the management because girl at least needs to be seen by medical professional, yet their attitude looked reassuring which got them out of the scene easily. I hope the girl is well supported by all means, that the management is dedicated to ensure workplace safety, and I will keep my comment here in case witness is needed at some point. I was too scared to take a picture, but some other reviewer (Audrey) had shared the layout of the stall from her posting.
Evan Richard: First visit to new Somerville location: place rules. Going to be my go-to for pastries and coffee.
Robert Spina: Go there for the macarons
Audrey “Theaudestcooper” Cooper: Fairly wide selection of unique flavors and classics. Flavor profiles are at times overwhelming, and intense, which isn't necessarily good in a macaron. Prepare yourself for the mint! Texture also seemed a bit off, and the macarons themselves are tiny! Overall a good treat if you're looking for macarons, but with so many other options, even just in the market, I'd go somewhere else.
Yousef Awwad: Love their macs! They rotate the flavors based on seasons too! Not to mention they're gluten free! Yum!!
Ann D: My first time at Finesse. I bought three pies for Thanksgiving. Apple, Pumpkin, and an Apricot Tart. All three were delicious. Will definitely buy more.
Laura C: ассортимент разочаровал (все видно на фото). Желание что то попробовать не возникло. И это 3 pm в воскресенье

Flour Bakery & Cafe: what do users think?
KaLe E: Arrived on Saturday late morning for lunch. Ordered two sandwiches: braised lamb, and achiote chicken! Wanted go indulge and get the sticky buns for dessert, but atlas they ran out already. Both sandwiches were 10/10!!!!!The lamb was flavorful and very filling. Whereas the achiote chicken was light and refreshing.Meter street parking is available.
Harry Golnazarian: This is a wonderful cafe with great customer service. Extra stars if I could, for always having full water bowls for the doggos at the front.
Rachel: Great avocado toast. Wish I would have gotten a pastry instead of the merange peep but it was cute for Easter.
Sonia Barbosa: This is my birthday cake spot. The lemon raspberry cake is the all time favorite
Madison Burns: This place was really good for lunch! Had a BLT sandwich with added chicken. It was a little pricey, but worth it. Good location as well! Matcha was delicious. Would recommend :)
SuEllen Yoder: Cozy atmosphere and great bakery selection. We enjoyed the quiche and breakfast sandwich. The food is of good quality and flavor. We also ate a sticky bun, the caramel sauce and pecans are the perfect combination.
JM: Perfect job on not only pre-ordering a special event cake, but the end result was fantastic. Just a great job to all that took care of my requested order. Wouldn't hesitate to use for special event, as they showed the reliability to get it done and get it made perfectly...Brava to all involved.Oh. Parking sucks. Nothing to do with their operation, but it is what it is inside the city.
shay goncalves: Walked in this morning a bit of a wait didn't feel welcome i ask for 2 ham&cheese croissant was told didn't have it then i asked bacon egg&cheese on wheat bread they only have multigrain it was way too much yapping one person on register complete joke#BLACK LIVES MATTER
Sofia Briskin: Tasty food and great service
clov: really good breakfast sandwich but i think it made me sick + the wait was kinda long
Colin: I got a black coffee and a ginger chocolate scone and both were very good. A little pricey for me, but probably about right for the area.
Charlie Redden: Tasty, coffee, sticky sweet carrot cake
Konstantinos Papadakis: Fresh cakes. $$$$
HaleemaHaya: Came to this place reading all positive reviews, but disappointed.French toast (which is not toast but some other type dough) and cappuccino, which can see in the photo didn’t even eat or drink half way.
Diane Geraci: Lots of places to choose for a great pastry, healthful sandwiches and soups, and coffee! Life in Boston is sweeter because of Flour. Don’t miss one of their convenient locations. ❤️
Michael Dunder: Good, tasty, fresh, almost like homemade food!
Yeganeh Saman Yazdjerdi: I visit this place whenever I’m in Boston. The coffee is perfect, the pastries are delicious. You MUST try the almond croissant 🥐The environment is very good and welcoming. You can sit outside and enjoy your break/breakfast or grab your food and head out.Everything I’ve tried yet has been great.
Tawanya Lynch: Love the food.
N N: Best customer service.
Chans View bomh1029: Great service.
David: Pricey but worth it

ArtEpicure Cooking School: what do users think?
Thomas Beardsley: Purchased gift certificates for Christmas 2019. Unable to use them due to Civic. Refused refund. So. Artepicure got $170. I lost $170. No service provided. Beware.
Alyssa Kaitz: We had the best time here for my husband’s birthday a few years ago. I’ve given gift certificates as wedding gifts and come back a few times!
Alyssa K: I purchased a gift certificate in an amount redeemable for two cooking classes. It was a Christmas gift for my Dad, so that we could attend a class together. We picked a class for May, but as May approach, so did COVID, and as was required for public safety, the school closed. COVID was an act of God, and although I was disappointed, that is not why I am writing this review.Recently, this school re-opened offering ONLINE CLASSES ONLY for the forseeable future. This format of class did not even exist at the time I made my initial purchase. I requested a refund. I was not willing to pay $165 to attend an online class. I could go elsewhere and attend an in-person class with my father.I was flatly refused a refund, and have lost my money.
Kathy Kiely: Very fun night. Mark the instructor is very knowledgeable and engaging. We even made Gnocci from scratch. Highly recommend.
Laura DiGiacomo: A group of women with wine, cheese and crackers surprised one for her 50th birthday celebration at this cool cooking class with Chef Mark. We sat and listened to the chef as we also chatted. He answered every question we had as we went along and even after the class. We prepared a chicken and wild mushroom dish with a pasta a salad with asparagus and breaded goat cheese followed by dessert...an apple cake. All in all it was a perfect choice and very comfortable and easy going event. Our expectations were exceeded in every way!
Nick Figueiredo: In a word: outstanding. Mark (owner, chef, teacher) is a great guy and an excellent teacher. It was a really neat space, and the four hour private class for 12 of us was perfect. This would be great for couples or for groups. Book quickly, he fills up fast! The locations is this really chic artist building located on the Somerville/Cambridge line. There is 4 hour visitor parking on Chestnut and Linwood Streets, both of which are right there next to the building. Don't worry - there are plenty of spots, regardless of the time of day since this isn't a very busy part of town. Just walk up to the front door, buzz the code for ArtEpicure (there is a listing of all codes next to the buzzer), mark answers and comes to greet you.For our food, we made a delicious salad (it had everything you can imagine in it, but it was simple and delicious), followed by chicken and vegetable paella, and topped off with bread pudding and apple crisp with homemade cream. Wow.Mark is a really great guy, is well-traveled and experienced, and a fun conversationalist! Great job Mark!
michael leshinsky: Great couple's activity
Kathleen Newton: My husband organized a small group for a bday surprise here. The food and atmosphere were both amazing. It was a night to remember.Thank You Chef Mark!

Oakleaf Cakes Bake Shop: what do users think?
Daniel Gulyas: Lovely spot just around the corner. All great products and staff.
Jennifer M.: We had the BEST cake from Oakleaf at our wedding. The detail went above and beyond, they perfectly executed our cake vision, not to mention, it was delicious too!
Ben Amerault: Thank you for the amazing cake, Madison! I will definitely return for all of my future cake orders. I highly recommend Oakleaf!
Rachel Amerault: Madison at Oak Leaf made my birthday cake so special. It was obvious she put thought and care into the creation of this cake. Truly was so special to enjoy with family on my birthday!
Kayla Pringle: As someone with an egg allergy, it’s not common for me to have a great tasting birthday cake. Oakleaf has managed to make two amazing gourmet cakes in my life in the past year; the first being the most delicious Pumpkin Spice vegan cake that was my wonderful birthday cake I don’t think I’ve ever had cake that good!! The second was for my partner and was a lovely red velvet cake that I’m still waiting for someone to share a slice with me! The customer service when ordering the one for my partner was phenomenal and I truly trust no other shop when it comes to cakes!
brianlidawg: Great spot to grab a quick brekkie! Very quaint atmosphere combined with stellar pastries and coffee give the place a warmth and homey feel. They make their own Chai latte blend and its delicious! Their croissants are tasty too! 10/10 would recommend!
Robert Tucker: Outclass service
Jacob V: Oak Leaf did our wedding cake, and it was absolutely perfect. Aside from tasting amazing, they worked with us to customize certain decor on the cake, including adding a fondant figure of our dog on the side which looked exactly like him. The delivery was smooth and well on time in advance of our ceremony/reception, and the cake itself was a hit on our dessert table.
Cam Collyer: This is not a latte! Please, if you are going to charge $4.50 for a latte, please make it a latte!
Daniel Bergen: I got the chocolate lovers gourmet cake for my mother's 80th birthday, 5" for an astounding $40 and it wasn't chocolatey at all, the frosting only tasted like butter and sugar, and I got bad heartburn. Definitely not worth it.Response to reply below: not only did I ensure it served at room temperature as they tell you repeatedly, I wondered what it is about these cakes that they are so insistent that they are served that way. I have had lots of cakes before that were served chilled that tasted fine, maybe they are skimping on ingredients. Anyway, this cake wasn't very good and not worth the money.
David Chang: I had a chocolate chunk cookie and pumpkin spice oat latte as a snack while passing by. Cute little cafe with a relaxed vibe. Loved it
Madison Whitley: Oakleaf made the cutest custom cookies for our wedding welcome bags. They were almost too pretty to eat, but the ones we ate were delicious. Thank you Liz & team!
Ruth Nore: Best Chai I've had in a long time!
Vivian Carrera, née Chen: My husband's favorite anime is Dragon Ball Z, so when it was almost his birthday, I decided that I was going to get him a Dragon Ball Z cake. I found multiple top rated bakeries in and near Boston. To my chagrin, all of the bakeries turned me down because making a Dragon Ball Z was not considered very Instagram-worthy.I kept on looking, however, and finally found Oakleaf Cakes. I contacted them with barely a line of notes because I assumed Oakleaf would just turn me down. To my surprise, with only 6-7 days until my husband's birthday, Oakleaf said it would make the cake!Because Oakleaf was not among the highest rated bakeries in Boston, I expected an intricate cake due to the high price, but did not expect a great tasting cake. I was wrong! As someone who generally does not enjoy cakes, I actually really loved the chocolate chocolate cake Oakleaf made for my husband! My husband also loved how the cake looked and cherished it so much that he could not bring himself to eat the dragon fondant sculpture until it went bad!We are so impressed!
Chris E: They literally misspelled my girlfriend’s name on the cake. You had one job… Will update on the flavor.
Chris Shen: Amazing baked goods (both traditional and vegan) are matched with a great variety of hot and icy drinks... so good!
Isamary Garcia: Red velvet ombré cake was beautiful & delicious!
Nicholas Price: Several years ago, before we got married, my wife got a birthday cake from Oakleaf Cakes Bake Shop. It was filled with realistic jasmine flowers made out of frosting. It was so beautiful and delicious that we knew we needed Oakleaf to prepare the cakes for our wedding day. And they did not disappoint in the least. For our wedding, they provided three elegant and delicious cakes to sit on top of platforms on our desert table. In addition, we ordered a large number of macaron's accentuate the beauty of the cakes and the rest of the desert table. And yet again, both the cakes and macarons were delicious. The staff were friendly and easy to work with. They delivered everything to the venue on time. We would highly recommend working with Oakleaf for any special cakes you need.
Susan Sommers: Staff was wonderful, but the cake was tasteless. We bought a little chocolate cake with white icing for my husband’s birthday. It was a beautiful cake and well done, just had no flavor to the cake. The icing texture was wonderful, but, again, lacking flavor - definitely not your average buttercream sweetness. (The cake was served appropriately two hours out of the shop’s display case.) The sugar cookie tasted like shortening rather than buttery. So disappointed. Five stars for the staff, one star for the cake and cookie. Bottom line, not our style of cake.
Anne Chao: 可愛的蛋糕店!杯子蛋糕真是好吃店員人都很好,我每次都會去點冰巧克力雖然菜單上沒有但他們都會人很好的讓我點~優質的小小蛋糕咖啡店~~~
Randi Simons: I ordered a vegan cake from Oakleaf. It looked beautiful was wonderful to eat. I had some confusion about my payment when I placed the order, and ended up having to call and ask them to cancel the order so I could resubmit it. Communication was a bit difficult because no one answers the phone when you call, but my calls were returned and I got all the assistance I needed, so I was grateful for that. Would definitely recommend.

Flour Bakery & Cafe: what do users think?
Julia Mitra: Good gluten free bread, a bit overpriced and no gluten-free pastries available when I went, but overall nice experience.
Nikita S: I love grabbing their chocolate pie or a snack before hopping on the Orange Line!
Lucy Huang: Delicious pastries. Have a rewards app that gives you 10% off of the first order and 15% off of the second order
Richard W: The staff recommended the broccoli melt as a savory option. I was afraid of it being mostly cheese with tiny bits of broccoli, like at many placed. But no, this was chock full of charred broccoli and red cabbage, the cheese lending support to the flavorful vegetables.
Anu: I had ordered 2 boston cream slices to go, from this store. One of the slices was of the size they present in the store but the other one was way smaller. Being pricey, they should take care that customers atleast get what they pay for. Taste was ok.
Mitchell Roberts: Food is good but it's unorganized. Lots of crew running around but poor systems so service is very slow.
Oaklee S: Good service and friendly staff. Food is over priced for the quality of it. Good food, but last time I was there I had got 2 sandwiches & 2 coffee and my total was almost $50.00. But to each there own!
bera ksoe: Didn’t like it
Ally B: I got Avacoda toast with cappuccino. The experience and vibe were okay
Manan Bhandari: Ordered online for pickup - Hot chocolate and avocado toast. Went in 10 mins later, the hot chocolate was ready but it took 20 more minutes for the avocado toast. They packed it in a rush too, so it got messy already.By then my hot chocolate wasn't hot anymore. The food is generally very delicious, I've always enjoyed ordering from Flour, but this was a disappointing experience.Yes, it was Sunday morning, and it was very busy in the cafe - so perhaps a one off.Update : My bad experience was a one off, ordered twice again - good overall, and the hot chocolate was great. The chicken tikka sandwich is surprisingly amazing too!
Kyle Braun: The mushroom quiche was delicious, how do they keep the eggs so moist. The earl grey tea was also great
Paulina C: Great pastries and coffee. Staff was super friendly too.
Elizabeth Glanowski: Food was amazing. A lot of options from savory to sweet. Had to come back the next day. 🍰🥧🥪
Ivan Brkljac: Great breakfast spot.
Nathan Blake: The food is so terrible and expensive dont ever go here ever
Emily Dawes: I just had the best breakfast sandwich ever. Super cute place and amazing food. Would highly recommend
Ivana Šerić: I love how they placed my order receipt which says one thing, on a box that says something completely different.I didn't realize until 2 hours later :(
Rebecca Fernandes: Our group enjoyed a wonderful tasty variety of options for breakfast. The staff was wonderful.
Louis S: Ok food but way too expensive
Harrison González-García: Their Monkey bread and roasted sweet potato sandwich have fed me the comfort I needed at very low points in my life. Food and service done right ✅️
Cole Harris: Home to Chocolate Chip Cookies that have never let me down!

Finesse Pastries: what do users think?
Joan Swan: Chelsey and crew. I have learned so much from you. This time I bought the virtual Peeps class. AND I MADE PEEPS. They are delicious. The instructions were great and the video was easy to follow. They are not the prettiest things I have ever seen but I did it and I was very concerned about making marshmallows
Vivian Brooklyn Chen: This is my favorite bakery in Boston. If you have not tried their birthday macron, lemon meringue pie, Linzer cookie, or chocolate caramels, you are seriously missing out. Order immediately!!!
JAE WON KWAK: Everything I had was amazing.Especially the big macaron and L'elodie were so good👍. You should try :)
Krislynn Lobo: Fantastic cake for my hubby's 30th birthday!!
Sophie Brown: Small cakes are amazing. Everything is beautiful. People are super friendly.
Ana Marques: Love this place, the macarons are delicious and staff are very friendly.
Alexander Herlihy: You need to notify these guys 48hrs prior to bake a cake? What kind of bakery does this? What kind of bakery doesn't have any cake? That's like going to Burger King but they don't have any fries and you have to preorder.
Shane Larsen: Really relaxing atmosphere with a little bit of seating. It's a bit pricey but very delicious!
Chris P Bacon: Like whoa
Stephen Vitale: I took a macaroon making class with my wife and mother here. It was phenomenal! Very well organized, incredibly helpful and the macaroons we made were delicious. I will look into other classes as well as be coming back for the pastries. The founder Chelsea, was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. It was a great experience overall!
Patricia Small: Took a 4-hour class on making Artisan breads here. The class was OUTSTANDING!! I learned a ton of information I never expected. Chef Tod and his daughter make a wonderful team, suitable for a TV show -- Food Network, are you listening? And you leave with three different breads that you had hands-on experience in the making. I would definitely come back for another class.Oh, yes, there's a cute pastry shop out front with very pretty macarons.
ravivg1: Only tried their "famous" coffee cake. So much sugar in it I had to throw it away.
Laurie Brunner: Macaron ice cream sandwiches!
Ann Trembly: Love this pastry shop! Coffee cake is so addicting, I have been dreaming about it. My sister is obsessed with the macarons (we saw the new Smores one on Instagram and can't wait to go in to try). Every flavor we ate were amazing, chocolate, coffee, pistachio, raspberry. You can not go wrong!
J W: Counter staff are very nice and the quality of pastries are very high with the tiramisu being very light and airy. Our only criticism is that sometimes the offerings can look sparse but it's understandable due to the location.
Tina Wu: I went to this place after it first opened less than a year ago. Overall it's a bit pricey but it is a cute pastry shop. I loved their coffee crumble cake - it's not as pretty as their other stuff but definitely worth its weight in flavor and texture. Beautiful little cakes like the unicorn cake, chocolate cake etc. Worth a visit!
Rocephin W: I loved their macaroons. Too expensive though.
John W: Small place with good macrons
Amanda Thornton: Tried the coffee cake, the macarons (obviously), the unicorn cake, and the lemonade and it was all SO GOOD!!! Can't wait to try everything else. Will be back for sure
Jordan Brigham: Wow wow. Picked up several little cakes, cookies, macaroons for my daughters birthday. So good!
Yousef Awwad: This place is so cute and the pastries are to die for!

Kakq Souley Manou: Great place & testy food. Good service! Thanks
Neil Childress: Great bakery! The breads and pastries are fantastic! It's a tiny place, so you may have to wait outside, but it's worth the wait!!
Michael DiBona Sr: 7 years a weekly customer never a disappointment, fantastic Quality every time 👏 👌 😀 👍
Nikita S: I love Clear Flour. Their bread and pastry are excellent. They're a wonderful part of the community as well.
BMW M3: The chocolate chuck cookies must have !!!Try the world peace cookies to!!!!!!!!
권진주: 보스턴 케이크 중 최고입니다~^^
John Sisk: Best breads in Boston!
BISWANATH MAHATA: Nice location & good food! Thanks
Nick: Croissant is one of my favorite things there. It’s a nice environment, small place but lots of passion in the breads
C S: Amazing
Maria Yampolskaya: Best bakery in Boston
Jennifer Aguilarleon: Very friendly staff. She offered suggestions for the type of bread that we were looking for. Helpful for sure
Jeansun Yang: 5 stars for a bakery creating from scratch and with quality ingredients! I bought loads of different things from here and some were better than others. I did not buy a lot of bread as I was in a hotel. The clear standout I can’t stop thinking about was their pretzel croissant. Goodness! You have to try it!The only issue is that they only make it on Saturday. I waited one whole week, salivating at the thought of eating it again, and determined to eat it again only to find it was sold out the second time around! 😭Liked the berry scone, and raspberry croissant. Friendly service, be prepared to wait in line, but worth it! Loved this place!
Robo Cob: The best bakery in Boston. Anything they have is good
Cheri Ballard: This bakery is outstanding!! The staff members are amazing very welcoming with great smile. My favorite items: Olive bread, sourdough, savory scone, chocolate chip cookies and the dinner rolls. Just a name of some of items they made. Can I say it enough amazing!
William Weber: Delicious bakery! The smells greet you in the street walking by. I arrived before open at 8:50 and there were already 20 people in line. The croissant was delicious - slightly thicker lamination than Tatte, which gave it a little more durability. I still think Tatte edges out on croissants, but they are neck and neck.CFBs bread is where it really shines, perfect proving, excellent crust, subtle flavor!! Perfect for pairing with burrataThe currant donut was light, not overly sweet but had a nice dusting of sugar. Reminiscent of hot cross buns. Thanks for being a perfect neighborhood bakery!
Alex Zhu: Best bread in Boston!
Pack 50 Milk Street: What a long line we do have in the afternoon Sunday with the cold weather. I have been wanted to visit the Clear Flour Bakery for a while. And today I did. At first, I thought you can sit at the bakery but actually there is no space or table here. It’s totally understandable because the shop is very small. The coffee here are nice, you can get a light roast cup of coffee with the unlimited refills. But you should not drink that much of coffee anyway.Once you arrive you will smell a wonderful aroma from baking which make you feel hungry :)
Joe Dulock: A top spot in the city. Definitely consistent & quality ingredients.Reminds me of a cafe that would be in nyc.
Lilly3oo4: best bakery I have visited in the US! As a German, I missed proper bread and this shop saved me. I go here regularly , the bread is amazing and the staff is lovely, it is really worth the wait in line :D
Julia Markowski: amazing bakery! Totally recommend! Not only the bread is really worth waiting in line, also the staff is very friendly and welcoming. I buy all my bread here and love it every time.

Helen's Kitchen Cooking School: what do users think?
That Being Said: Helen recently went on YouTube and attacked another content creator for absolutely no good reason. Not only that, she made disgusting comments about the intelligence of her viewers vs. the intelligence of the other channel's viewers. She is disingenuous, petty, and completely unethical in the way she handled this, making generalizations that are entirely unfounded and inaccurate. She might be able to make dough, but I certainly wouldn't be giving her my money.
Elizabeth Carracini: The cooking/baking class (Perfect Pizza) with Helen was fantastic. We baked and cooked (not the same thing). There is plenty to learn (basic knife skills, oven/stove tips, dough techniques, ingredient importance, tool choice and much more). We were very comfortable in Helen's home which is setup perfectly for the group size. She has a lovely personality, lots of patience and ran the class smoothly. Helen is very passionate and generous with her knowledge and experience. The pizza was delicious! We left with our own dough and the confidence to make our own perfect pizza at home. We will definitely return for other classes. Sign up...you won't be disappointed. THANK YOU, Helen (and David)!!!
J. Beato: Amazing experience! My wife and I have been watching Helen's Youtube channel for quite some time, so we were excited when her classes started up again (after pandemic). I must say it was a such a joy learning from her in person and eating amazing pies that our class made together. I've never took cooking classes before, so not sure what typical prices are, but her class is worth every penny!
Yelena S: Cooking became one of the best entertainments for us during the pandemic. A family friend recommended watching Helen’s YouTube videos and we were immediately hooked. The dishes Helen prepares are sophisticated but approachable. No extravagant or expensive ingredients are involved – I never had an issue finding any of them in my local supermarket (except for pomegranate molasses, which I ordered online). We’ve been cooking Helen’s recipes for a while when another friend strongly recommended attending one of her in-person classes.I chose the ‘One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish’ class and it turned out to be a wonderful cooking experience. The class had 8 participants – we prepared and ate 4 dishes from 4 different kinds of fish – and each of the dishes was tasty and easy to cook (I was able to make them later at home). They were restaurant quality and looked amazing when plated. Helen also discussed the cooking techniques and tools, fish markets and possible side dishes for every fish we cooked. It was a fun class and I highly recommend Helen's Kitchen Cooking School. Every time I watch Helen’s video, I feel I am cooking with an old friend. Thank you!
Kelli Rapoza: Wonderful and extremely informative. Helen is such a talent and very fun!
Katie Kenny: Helen's videos and online classes have changed my life. I have been cooking since I was a kid (a long time ago), and all my life I have read everything I can get my hands on to learn more about cooking. I've learned more about cooking from Helen in the past few years than I have the rest my life. I'm always learning something new from her, and my reaction is always "How have I never heard this before?!" Helen is kind, helpful, and a fountain of useful information.
Earle Goodwin: Dear Helen, looking at a recent ingredients of you making ingredients soft rolls I wanted a greater quantity of rolls. Hence, I combined an old recipe for soft rolls and your technique and was delighted for the outcome. Here is the recipe:6 cups KAF Unbleached, or 1040gr /from the above flour take half cup of the flour1 cup warm milk / from this reserve 1/2 cup milkfrom the above 2 items/ make the roux as you showed on Utube1 stick of butter/ melted/ reserve2 Tblspoons YeastSalt...to taste 1 tblespoon1/2 cup sugar2 large eggs/reserve to mix with milk/butter/ the eggs lightly beaten/andthe cooled roux mixture*Roux : There is an old saying, "Is your mother Irish, can she make a roux"Dump all wet ingredients into the flour mixture..and proceed to mix withelectric mixer with dough hook...Kitchen Aide Pro, Kenwood both of which are strong mixers. Set aside to rise..(in my Kenwood I cover large bowl with a plastic hair net, and let rise to the top..approx, 1 hour +...Work the dough, as shown on your program. I then cut into rolls weight of 134gr per roll. Follow your instructions as to placement. Bake at 350º for approx 35 min plus.. until brown on top of rolls..remove and paint with melted butter and return to oven for about 8 minutes until golden brown. So Helen thank you so much for the initial instruction re: Japanese method for soft rolls...you are the greatest..Sincerely Earle Goodwin, Bedford VA
Ken Luymes: Following years of watching Helen Rennie's fabulous YouTube videos, we took a wintery trip up to the Boston area to take a course on soup making. Helen was welcoming, prepared, and presented culinary insights with the same ease and charm as her channel
Katie Moulton: My husband arranged for a private social cooking class here with 8 additional friends of mine to celebrate my 40th birthday party. We had a wonderful night, filled with good conversation, wine, food, and relaxation! Helen was so accomodating, she even made a special meal for one participant who could not eat a few of the original menus' ingredients. My friends and I had so much fun, we would not hesitate to recommend Helen's Kitchen to anyone who asks!
Tom Woodfin: Helen's classes are wonderful. She takes a practical, empirical approach to cooking, and as a result it's much easier to replicate her techniques and recipes at home. I always leave with at least one new "trick" that's worth the price of admission by itself. But of course there's much more than technique: She thoroughly covers every step of the culinary process, from where to shop, what to look for in ingredients, how to best prepare ahead of time... all the way to presentation (and then all that's left to do is feast on the delicious results!)Highly recommended.
Juliana Kilduff: I’ve been to many cooking classes in the Boston area. Helen’s was the only class I came back to over and over. I really enjoy cooking and was looking for a hands on cooking class to learn techniques I can use in my kitchen. I signed up for the vegetable class and it was a wonderful experience. Helen is great instructor, very friendly and knowledgeable. I’ve also taken her fish, pizza and meat classes. They were all amazing!
Diana Stelin: We've probably taken every class at Helen's Kitchen we could possibly make time for (considering we have three kids at home :)).Helen makes incredibly tasty, healthy and varied entrees totally doable in execution. The thing my mathematically inclined husband loves (and he is now the family cook thanks to our classes there), is that every ingredient quantity is exactly measured and specified in recipes. We keep coming back to our hand outs at least once a week!
Mary Alice McCann: For the home cook, there is no better school. Helen is a top notch teacher who goes far beyond how to make a recipe, to the bigger issues of how to cook. She explains things that are usually only included in professional training, like how to season and how to intelligently use differences heat sources, providing enough technical information to give you the tools you need not just to be better at a recipe but to become a better cook. Meanwhile, she is enormously generous to her students and happily answers questions 'til the cows come home. She is a consummate caring, brilliant, and charming cooking teacher, and provides the best training you will ever receive in the Boston-area, short of signing up for professional cooking school.By the way, did I mention how fantastic her food is? Helen can teach you how to do it too. I am putting in less effort and our meals at home are at an entirely new level -- according to my husband, quite often at the OMG level. Not only did I learn to cook, I learned to eat, and have achieved a more optimal personal weight while enjoying food more than I ever knew possible. My relationship with food is at a whole new level. If you spend any time each week cooking and want it to be more fun, more yummy, more reliable, and more healthy, take a few of Helen's classes.
Matthew Garrigue: The class I took on knife skills was extremely well-organized. Helen provided a huge amount of valuable information in three hours, including where to buy knives and other tools, where to buy ingredients, what to buy, how to hone and sharpen and take care of knives, and how to perform a number of knife skills. I loved that we didn't have to take notes, because the packet she gave us to take home contained everything I would have written down. I got plenty of practice with a number of different new skills, with Helen and her assistant watching and correcting and giving tips. Our group of eight students was a fun group, and we all swapped restaurant recommendations, etc. The food we got to eat was delicious! It's nice to know I can watch one of Helen's videos online if I need a refresher. All in all, it was a very impressive class and a great value; I don't see how it could have been any better. The little company where I work also decided to do a private class at Helen's as our end-of-the-year holiday party last year. It turned out to be the best company party we had had in years. It was in an intimate setting -- someone's home -- but none of us had to shop for it or clean up afterwards! We brought our own music and drinks. Different people had different levels of interest in learning about cooking, but Helen didn't force anything. The food was unbelievable; two or three colleagues later told me the striped bass was the best fish dish they had ever eaten in their lives. Helen was very accommodating about people's different dietary needs and preferences, too. I highly recommend taking one of Helen's private classes as a fun and informative thing to do with friends and family or colleagues.
Barbara Landy: The day after class, friends invited me for a simple dinner so I prepared Helen's pizza dough with my version of her yummy pear pizza spread and baked it there for dessert. Their pleasure was worth every penny and moment I spent in her class and more.
Rob Lewis: Helen is a genuinely warm person who knows how to cook really well. She understand the fundamentals behind cooking; what works and why, but best of all, she can explain it with humor and wit. My wife, 9-year old daughter and I have taken many of her classes and find them to be really useful, entertaining and yummy! She distills so much knowledge into those 3 hours. I've not found anything like her classes, which is why we keep going back.
Mark Wing: We are big fans of Helen's Kitchen. We have attended five classes so far, starting with Knife Sharpening, then Grilling Fish, Grilling Meat, Orgasmic Vegetables, and our latest Easy as Pie…(making pie dough) which we put to use just the other day…and the compliments we received from everybody was "Oh my god, that was so good!"…Helen's cooking techniques and tips have taught us to prepare food that is so delicious we fine ourselves preparing more meals at home rather than going out to restaurants because frankly, the food is not as good. We highly recommend Helen's Kitchen!
Debra Quarnberg: What a excellent experience. I've learned techniqes, not just recipes. Students have hands-on time in class. Also, love the video's on Helen's blog to reinforce all that I've learned in class. I've absolutely love taking classes at Helen's Kitchen.

Bova's Bakery: what do users think?
anna loy: Loved the tiramisu
Jenny Champ: The best cannoli I've ever eaten.
Charles Rez: Best bakery in town hands down. There is such a wide variety and everything is at a reasonable price. I got the strawberry shortcake box cake and an Oreo cannoli, both delicious. I would highly recommend going here if you have the chance. 10/10
Pete Darnell: Wicked good and wicked expensive
Michiel Kriele: 24 / 7 geopend, en heel veel keus, lekkere taartjes en zoete versnaperingen. Altijd druk als je wat gaat halen.
Carolina: Best cheesecake ever!
Mohamed Hegazy: Exceptional florentine cannoli!
Fab Trav: 10/10 you already know this is the best in the Northend.
Marie Kern: Came here after doing some research and finding that it was a great bakery to stop. Overall was okay, tried a chocolate chip cannoli and a lobster tail and while they were good I’ve definitely had better. A good option if looking for a sweet fix but nothing life changing.
Celeste Jackson: absolutely fantastic and super quick service despite being busy, I'll definitely be back when I'm in town again
Richard W: The cannolo is the best I’ve had. I thought I didn’t like cannoli because every single one I’ve had in NYC were overly sweet and had a gritty texture. The cannoli at Bova’s have a completely smooth filling that’s not too sweet. The other pastries I got are also delicious, but the cannoli are the must try!Edit: I returned to try the tiramisu. All I’ll say is, if I lived near Bova’s I’ll gain twenty pounds in a year.
M Pagliei: Had the pleasure of enjoying one of the best sfogliatella at Bovas this past weekend. Having sampled to bakeries with all the hype - This place is the real deal. - Go to Bova's!
PRASHANTH D: Good. But u can’t sit and eat
Alexis Newman: Such delicious treats! The Boston cream pie, chocolate brick, and cannoli are all excellent!
Nestor Hernandez: Bova's Bakery is fantastic! Their lobster tail is incredible - flaky, buttery, and filled with a rich, creamy filling. Highly recommended!
Gracie Gralike: I got a cannoli and another pastry (that I never ate since I was too full!), but I thought that the cannoli was really good. I had the peanut butter and chocolate flavored one. The line is pretty long at night and the workers seem a bit stressed with the crowds. 4 stars because I thought it was a little expensive based on what it was. Paid over $10 for 2 pastries.
Katherine: Everything was delicious! My favorite was the chocolate covered cannolis!Added bonuses: open 24/7 & accept credit cards!
J T: The chocolate bomb is da bomb!!! Chocolate cake was a bit dry but incredible frosting. Husband liked the coconut cake. Cheesecake was okay but seriously the CHOCOLATE BOMB!!
Naomi Bowman: OMG … I can’t even begin to describe the experience I just had!!! This is the best place ever!!!!
Katherine Dubois: Best Italian bakery in the North End.
Cory Comer: The Florentine Cannoli is easily better than their more famous competitor. It’s amazing! Also, try the chocolate bomb and pistachio macaroon.
