Amy Dancz Voice Studio: what do users think?
Greg Trost: Best voice studio ever!
Savanna Smith: This studio is well organized and well staffed. I had the pleasure of working with three of their amazing teachers, primarily Larisa who is very sweet and encouraging! I'm an adult beginner and she tailored the experience very well to my needs and interests. She is knowledgable, flexible and well-organized. I am more confident in my singing and general music knowledge thanks to this studio!
Lindsay Brownell: I'd highly recommend this studio for anyone who wants to learn how to sing! I'm an adult and started out as complete novice, and within a year I was amazed at how much I'd progressed.I took voice lessons with Sarah via the Amy Dancz studio starting just before the COVID-19 pandemic hit. My lessons were shifted to Zoom, and they worked out surprisingly well! I also loved that we had quarterly Zoom recitals where I could perform my pieces and watch how other students were also progressing with their respective teachers. The physical location is easy to get to (right off the Red Line downtown) whenever in-person lessons resume. There are multiple teachers at the studio, and Amy helps to match you with whomever is best suited to teaching the style you want to learn. I've enjoyed it immensely!
Sarita Maraj: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,Value
Lacey Cukier: Very professional and great responsiveness. Quality voice teaching
Oscar Bravo: Great room to practice
Sarah K: This is my first time ever taking solo voice lessons, (I’m in my mid-20’s), and I’ve been learning from Veronica for a few months now. I came in wanting to dig into some audition pieces, and ultimately get some strength behind my voice to extend my range. I am so, so impressed. If you’re willing to really dig in, she has so much technical knowledge to impart and knows how to change something small for a better sound. Even though I fear going in each time because I don’t like the sound of my own voice, I come out of each lesson feeling so much better about myself and what I can do. Learning how to improve and taking little steps to do it has been really rewarding. I cannot recommend this studio enough.
Cami Chen: I have been taking a mix of private and group voice lessons here for ~ 6 months. The little prior experience I had was from doing non-auditioned voice ensemble in school many years ago. The instructors at Amy's studio are knowledgeable and encouraging. It keeps me motivated to continue challenging myself creatively. The studio has a supporting community of amateur and professional musicians, and provides frequent opportunities even for beginners and intermediate students to sing in front of small audience.
Arun Daniel: Frankie is a great voice teacher. He understands your needs and works with you at your level. He also teaches excellent techniques to improve all areas vocal performance.
Hannah Bend: I’ve been taking lessons from Amy for almost ten years; I can’t recommend her enough! She’s really good at explaining concepts, knows a lot of different ways of approaching a tough spot so she can really customize her teaching, regardless if we were working on classical, Broadway, pop, etc. She’s been 100% understanding that I don’t want to perform and only encourages me to push for what I want, but for her performers she’s constantly organizing recitals and relaying other opportunities to sing and grow. It’s been a pleasure to watch her studio grow!
Emily Bieber-Harris: Amy's been a great teacher and coach. She not only knows how to bring my voice out to its full potential, but she's been invaluable in helping me polish my presentation and interpretation of my songs. I've seen her bring out the best in beginners and she's helped me as an experienced singer, so I absolutely recommend her and her studio to singers of any level!
Jamie Hart: As a professional vocalist and professor of voice , I rarely take voice lessons myself. I went to Amy to brush up on my classical skills and I was floored with the progress I made in such a short time. I have TWO degrees in classical voice and none of my previous teachers had been able to rectify some of my problametic vowels. Amy gave me new exercises and concepts to play with that have helped me tremendously. I now use the exercises with my own students with great success. I also proudly send students to this studio when I am unable to teach. I highly recommend this studio for a high caliber of professional training from brilliant and experienced teachers.
Kevin Eldridge: Amy is an incredible teacher - she breaks down singing technique in an easy to understand way and shows me that my voice is way more capable than I thought it was! She provides very practical exercises and examples that help me better understand the mechanics of singing, and provides helpful feedback whenever I fall off of my technique. Most importantly, she makes lessons fun! I highly recommend taking lessons with Amy.
Aaron Vienneau: I'd never met someone I would call a 'scholar' in their field until I met Joshua Dixon. He's a world-class vocalist and an extraordinary instructor. My absolute favorite quality about Josh is his ability to practically apply his plethora of musical theory in ways that make sense -- and are appropriate -- for your progression as a vocalist. He adds a depth to musical instruction that I've never encountered before: a capacity to talk about how musical techniques relate to your vocal system and how that system supports your tone/pitch/volume. Its with this objective foundation of practical knowledge that Josh begins to instruct you in a way that can be conformed uniquely to your areas of improvement. I've, without a doubt, learned more from Joshua in the 5 visits I've had with him than the 5+ years of previous training I've had throughout my lifetime.
Lisa Liu: When I moved to Boston last year, I knew I wanted to challenge myself artistically. Among all the choices I had—dance, painting, acting, among others—I chose vocal lessons with Amy Dancz and have not questioned my decision since.Amy is the best vocal instructor I could ask for. Not only is she professional and remembers minute details about your progress between classes, she makes singing *fun*. Additionally, Amy is just as comfortable with developing vocal skills for pop as she is for classical music (and the same holds true for all genres).Furthermore, in addition to two recitals a year, Amy offers studio class every month, which is a class devoted to emotional arc and musical expression. This class is unique, as it highlights the diversity and talent of Amy’s students. And the best part about studio put simply—it brings together a group of people who love to sing and are willing to learn more.If you are looking for a vocal instructor in the Boston area, you won’t be disappointed with Amy Dancz. I recommend her with no reservations. Looking back at all the progress I made in the past year, I know I am a stronger, more confident singer. I can’t wait to see how much more I will grow as a singer with Amy’s instruction.
Alex Willisson: I started taking weekly lessons with Amy over a year ago, starting from essentially no singing experience beyond some stuff when I was little. Amy's a great instructor and is wonderful at mixing encouragement and constructive criticism. I'm constantly asking for technical details and she really knows her stuff. Looking back I can tell how far I've come since I started taking lessons. In retrospect, I'm guessing I didn't sound very good when I first started, but Amy always picked out the good things to say and helped me find what I could improve. I definitely haven't been the best student (I've certainly gone weeks without practicing between lessons!), but I'm always looking forward to my next lesson even if I come in shuffling my feet and saying that I haven't practiced at all since I'd last come in.I highly recommend taking lessons from Amy. Even if you're just toying with the idea of singing, just try it out. I was pretty hesitant when I started but I decided to dive straight in head first and I'm very glad I did.
Doug Reichgott: Our daughter has been taking lessons with Amy for a few years. Amy is a great teacher who has shown an ability to work with kids. We have heard tremendous improvement based on her teaching. She also provides additional opportunities other than lessons including performance and studio classes.
Ashley Feldman: Amy is spunky and very encouraging! She is great with teaching technique, selecting material suited for my voice and introducing me to various auditions and workshops in my community. Her studio is a comfortable environment overlooking the Boston commons and i have already seen tremendous improvement in my voice within just a few months of working with her. Her enthusiasm shines through and she genuinely cares about my progress and vocal health. Amy is very patient and provides me with a safe space to be myself and work on my craft. I would highly recommend!
Teague Bick: A very supportive and excellent teacher. Her lessons are tailored to the individual - she can dive deep into theory or just surf the top, drive deep into classical singing (her forte) or bring you on a safari through pop. But above all, she teaches practical and correct technique, and gives plenty of opportunities to practice and expand oneself as an artist. The only downside is she made my mother weep - tears of surprise and joy at "My son sang that?"
Jason Kaplan: Amy brings boundless enthusiasm, passion and skill to every lesson. After just a few months under her direction, I’m enjoying new levels of confidence with my voice. Most of all, I enjoy Amy’s ability to adapt to different vocal/musical styles. It keeps our lessons fresh and my range diverse. If you’re searching for a vocal instructor in Boston, look no further than Amy Dancz.
Laura Edwards: Voice lessons with Amy have been life-changing! No exaggeration. Above and beyond being incredibly talented and extensively trained, Amy seems to meet all her students right where they are and help them to achieve their individual goals. She gives both constructive criticism to help you improve, as well as lots of praise and encouragement to keep you inspired and motivated.I went to Amy to start singing for the first time since middle school, and because I'd always thought it would be fun (though scary) to audition for a community theatre musical. She's been amazing at getting me back into my voice as well as preparing me for any auditions I decided to take on. Since starting lessons with Amy less than a year ago, I have already completed one musical and am now a principal in one going up next weekend! What I think is especially great about Amy though, is that she is very attentive to each student's needs and goals. Through recitals and monthly group performances which we get the opportunity to participate in as her students, I've met a lot of other students of Amy's who are singing for very different reasons, but who are all really happy and getting exactly what they want from the experience. If you have even a slight inclination to take a voice lesson, run - don't walk - to get one with Amy Dancz!

I feel like I really learned a solid foundation to keep my voice healthy for the rest of my singing life. He's also a really great person, and I really loved connecting with him and felt so comfortable with him!
Paul Lyness: Brent Barlow makes voice lessons fun and is a great vocal coach! His knowledge of vocal technique and the commercial music scene is extensive. He also has masterfully arranged and produced several of our original songs. We highly recommend him!
Pam Steinfeld: I found Brent when I was looking for a teacher to help me recover my voice after a vocal cord injury. He is extraordinary! His method was easy to follow and really insightful. I couldn’t believe how dependable my voice became. I’m pretty indebted. He’s also such a nice person and a delight to work with. What a find!
Alexis Richardson: I started taking lesson with Brent and immediately felt an improvement in the way that I sing. He is a joy to have as a teacher and a talented musician himself. He’s truly invested in improving your current skill and I would recommend him to anyone
Richard Gao: Brent is a great teacher along with being a relaxing presence to be around to boot. He really knows his craft, and he's patient even with people who come in with all sorts of bad vocal habits like myself. I was able to discover my falsetto that I had thought was entirely lost.
Bridget Hanna: Brent is a stellar teacher, an incredibly well trained musician, and a great guy. I really look forward to my lessons every week. I know he teaches some superstars, but he also teaches some regular people (like me). I will never be a diva (probably, but I'm not ruling it out, ya hear that kids?!), but voice lessons with Brent are radically improving my voice, and also are making me a more relaxed and happier person. For serious.
Bradford Alderman: Brent is a great teacher! He has great approach to teaching how to sing naturally. I’ve been studying with him for about a year and a half and I feel my singing has improved a ton.

Boston School of Music Arts: what do users think?
Paul Marquez: Professional instructors who make learning fun! We appreciate that the children have performances to work toward and that all of the staff are always helpful and friendly. Highly recommend!
Christopher D. Anderson: BSMA has been very patient with a beginning musician (who doesn't always handle criticism well!), I'm very impressed at how encouraging and inspiring the instruction has been. Now if I could just get my son to practice more . . .
Olumide Adebo: My son does violin lessons here and it's great to have that in the neighborhood.
Nneka Edwards-Burgess: As an adult learner, the atmosphere is not intimidating. My family and I enjoy learning together.
Soondarie Barker: Linda and Julie are the beautiful faces of BSMA. They are extremely efficient. They readily tackle any questions or scheduling conflicts. The instructors are knowledgeable and always friendly. They do a wonderful job of tailoring lessons to meet students where they are. Last, but not least, Sharon and Yuri are talented and passionate musicians. They have set the goal of filling hearts with the power of music and are committed to seeing that goal through to fruition for all who enter the doors of BSMA.
Tracey Worthen: Good music school close to my neighborhood. Great teachers and a good learning experience.
Ingrid: I do not have much to say than it is a fantastic school, well organized, where your child learns. I can see the progress. Great school! Music is like a balm for the soul!
Jane Wood: I learned how to play piano and do vocals here! I have been going here for 5 years and I have never had a bad experience! The owners are very cautious about Covid-19,which is a good thing! The teachers here really teach you what your limits really are and help you achieve your goals! Would really recommend for anything from ages 6+!
Eliane Shwairi: I started taking lessons and I like the place so far.
Kate Bosolango: I learned two of my main instruments at this school. They have wonderful professors and quality facilities.
Natalie Mitchell: wonderful atmosphere
Pierre Mentor: I enjoy the way they show me some lessons...then i do a lot of progress, when i practiced the guitar from them...🗼
Khu Duong: Friendly and knowledgeable staffs.
Alessandra Pollina: We’ve had a great experience so far with children’s piano lessons. The instructors are fantastic with kids, and the school has been easy to communicate with and be a part of.
Jeanel Humber: I love the classes. My daughter loves Ms. Sharon and has a great time in the class with her friends. She has learned about a lot of new instruments. It's very educational! "
george howard: Great place for young music learners
Avi Meyers: I feel lucky to have found Yury, Sharon and the Boston School of Music Arts. I began my journey at the age of 4 with classical violin lessons. These gradually turned into guitar lessons at the age of 15. I have always had a deep passion for music, but never quite felt fulfilled from it. When I began to write my own music, I realized this was the best way to focus my energies, and the next logical step was to find a voice coach. This led me to Yury, and we began a series of lessons. I soon realized I had stumbled upon more than a voice coach. Yury is my music mentor, he allows his students a chance to grow, and develop into artists in the most organic way possible. His knowledge of music, and skills on a plethora of instruments are unmatched. Couple this with the professional and warm-hearted nature of Sharon who runs the school, and I can't imagine why anyone would take lessons anywhere else. I felt compelled to write this review and encourage anyone with an interest or desire to play music to come down to the Boston School of Music Arts and get involved in this awesome community of musicians.

Page Music Lessons: what do users think?
MengDe Zhu: I called the number below and heard a voice message saying it is closed during holiday, reopening at Jan 3rd. But it is already Jan 7th. What's wrong?
Ngan Tran: I have been learning piano at Page Music Lessons for about 8 months now. My instructor is Sarah Yang, she is an amazing teacher who is very patient and helpful toward my learning process. The staff there are also very nice and friendly. I really enjoy the lessons and have a great time every time I come to the studio. I would definitely recommend Page Music Lessons to any of my friends who is interested in learning a new instrument.
Sanford McMurtry: I started taking piano lessons a few weeks ago without any previous experience other than having learned to play guitar over the past 15 years. Within a couple of weeks, Thomasina has helped me understand how to read music notation and play several songs. I am thrilled with the progress and recently upgraded my membership to the Full Membership plan and can't wait to take advantage of the benefits that are available with the membership.
Rebecca Ercolani: I have been taking piano lessons at the studio for just over a year now. As an adult, I had no prior experience to playing a musical instrument and because of this, was hesitant to begin knowing the learning curve I would be facing. My instructor, Pierre, has been extremely helpful and patient in this process, beginning my journey with the basics and gradually building up my skill set as I have been ready. He does an excellent job of teaching musical theory, which I found not only interesting, but beneficial as I learn more about different pieces and genres. The office staff is very kind and flexible, making it easy to reschedule or cancel lessons as needed. If you are looking to learn a new musical skill or brush up on one you already have, I would certainly recommend Page Music Lessons.
Ronan Barrett: I have been taking lessons with Page Music for approximately 3 years. Throughout that time I have enjoyed the experience of learning to play guitar. Matt has done a great job of challenging me to develop my skills at a pace I am comfortable with. SInce the pandemic began, lessons shifted to being virtual and we have hardly missed a beat. Via Zoom, Matt continued to work together. In fact, being able to play with my own amp. has contributed to my progress. I would absolutely recommend Page Music to any adult interested in learning to play. Virtual teaching did not affect the standard of instruction in any way.
Kurt Wagner: I'm an adult who has taken electric guitar lessons at Page Music Lessons for several years. The instructors are highly skilled, supportive, and extremely easy to work with. I also really enjoy the monthly jam nights, which gives students a chance to play together in a low pressure, fun, environment; but one which can be as challenging as you want to make it. The pandemic has obviously changed the way they operate, but the instructors have adapted and their personal Zoom lessons are virtually as good as live lessons, and very convenient! If you're an adult who has been thinking about starting or resuming playing music, this is a great time to do it, and I would highly recommend Page for lessons.
Deven Smith-Clarke: Great group of people. Instructors are good, and the song nights are great to play with other musicians.
Qi Liao: I have been taking piano lessons at Page Music for over a year. When I came here, I can hardly read the notes. After one year of commitment, I have finished one book and was able to perform my favorite Bach. Thank you Jasmine and Page Music. You are the best.
Niall Corrigan: My daughter has been taking violin lessons at Page Music for about 18 months now. The experience has been very positive. Her teacher, Taylor, has been wonderful - patient and encouraging. She takes an approach that might be described as Suzuki light, and will often spend some time on musical theory or history during the lessons. Daughter genuinely looks forward to her weekly lesson. The facility is also great. Conveniently located on Newbury St right by a the Hynes T-stop. They have a simple billing system that works well. The staff are extremely accomodating and responsive. They host regular recitals offsite that offer a non-threatening opportunity for students to play in front of a group. Finally, one of the managers/instructors (Rick) occasionally brings his dog to the studio - and she's fantastic!
Phyllis Wilker: I started violin lessons at Page about five months ago and I have really enjoyed them. I had studied violin when I was younger, but I hadn't taken lessons since high school, so I was more than a little apprehensive. My teacher, Taylor, has been great for me. She points out techniques that I need to improve, but she is also kind and encouraging. She has expertise in various types of violin playing - classical, jazz and bluegrass and she has been open to teaching me different types of music, as well as some music theory.
Michael Davin: As a 60 year old learning to play an instrument (guitar) for the first time, I'm thrilled I chose Page Music. My overall experience has been educational, relaxing and exciting. Matt is an amazing teacher! His patience and encouragement for a newbie like me has been inspirational. I look forward to continuing my lessons as I chase my goal of becoming a proficient, recreational guitarist. Thank you Page Music!!
John Cragin: Outstanding instruction that combines knowledge, patience, flexibility and humor. I might be one of the slowest students ever but I come away from each lesson knowing more and inspired to keep learning.
Juan Kim: Hey! I am just curious how much it is for a monthly lesson?
Stephanie Walther: I have had a significant improvement in my voice in the year that I have been taking lessons. I also participate in the jam nights, song nights, and recitals that Page offers. They give me a chance to work on stage fright, stage presence, working with an ensemble, and working with songs that stretch my comfort zone. My instructor and the jam/song night leaders have been incredibly supportive and positive as I learn to use my voice. It's been a great experience.
Kevin: I've been taking lessons with Aaron and Emily for a while now and have been extremely happy with the progress. They're friendly and helpful in providing a customized plan for improving, as well as extremely knowledgeable about theory, which is more than I had expected from lessons. Overall, the environment here is great, generally fun and relaxed, which makes it helpful for learning.
Eric Lavalliere: I've been taking Lessons at Page for Just over 6 months, my experience has been great! The first few months I stuck with one on one lessons to learn the basics. Recently I also got involved with song and jam nights. This has really brought everything together. The great private instruction combined with low pressure group classes is awesome.
Cara Donovan: My son and I have taken drum lessons with Dan at Page Music for almost 8 months. There are varied opportunities to play with others/before an audience. Dan is a patient and animated teacher and we look forward to our weekly lessons. I would highly recommend Page Music for first time musicians. They are flexible with proper notice to change if you need to. Instructors are knowledgeable and talented.
Ronald Lohse: I returned to playing piano after several years away. The studio and the instruction here is first rate. Plenty of opportunities to perform if that's your thing. Also, they have been very flexible whenever I have needed to reschedule. Definitely recommend them to anyone looking to start or continue their music education.
Kathleen C. Stone: I returned to playing piano as an adult and have studied with several teachers, but the most outstanding is Jasmine at Page Music. She is a terrific musician, trained in classical as well as jazz, and a great teacher as well. She pitches her lessons to my level, and combines playing with a little theory, and she never minds having to repeat or re-explain a point. I am delighted to be her student.
Julio Butter: I've been taking voice lessons from Page Music for approximately 6 months now and have been learning a lot! I am really happy for the service and quality of the lessons, and my voice improvement has exceeded my expectations. I definitely recommend music school for any musician out there.
Sarah Fortune: Over the past six years, both my son and daughter have taken lessons at Page in drums and voice/bass respectively. We have been consistently impressed because their teachers have uniformly made learning to play instruments joyful. Not that the teachers don't have high standards and ask the kids to practice a lot----but the teachers allow the kids to explore their own musical interests through their respective instruments. This experience has contrasted with the kids' years in other, (more formal?) music schools where the curriculum marched through a series of learning to play books that were soul killingly boring. Also love the flexibility in scheduling.

Bulent Guneralp. Singer. Voice Expert & Teacher. Online Lessons.: what do users think?
Douglas Puhl: My 13 year old daughter is a bass player / vocalist for a heavy metal band. Her voice and stamina have greatly improved since taking vocal lessons from Bulent. Bulent is extremely knowledgeable and is an absolute gentleman. I am confident that her vocals are in good hands and am looking forward to seeing what the future brings. Thanks for everything Bulent!
Erkan Kusku: I congratulate Mr. Bülent Güneralp, whom I have known very well for many years and whose teaching, training skills and techniques are superior and whose teaching has been strengthened by experience, knowledge and sincerity, for his deep friendship and generosity.
Susie: Bulent reviewI appreciate the Vocathletic System used which incorporates physiology to produce sound that is pleasing to the ear. I have watched my daughter grow as a singer. She has learned how to use her voice naturally and not to force sound. This has allowed her to use her voice without damaging her vocal cords. Her interests are utilized to make concepts understandable and useable.
Nouneh Makarova: Highly recommend!
Eleanor Kolossovski: Bülent is a fantastic voice teacher who is dedicated to the art and science of singing as well as many other related fields. He is attentive to each student’s development needs. I have been learning the Vocathletic System from him since the beginning of the year. Within a few months, I have already noticed significant changes in my vocal quality. Thank you, Bülent, for being patient with me to ensure I can execute each foundational exercise with full awareness and ease. I am looking forward to the journey together to discover the joy of singing.
Jack Rotondi: COVID UPDATE: I’ve worked with Bulent for over ten years and have posted several in-depth and glowing reviews. However, here I want to talk about ONLINE lessons and what separates an excellent online voice teacher from a true master like Bulent. It’s simply this: even with the less-than-desirable audio and video of an online lesson, Bulent’s ability to hear how I am properly or improperly using my anatomy while I sing is positively uncanny. Even during an online lesson Bulent hears and sees the subtlest cues and indications and tells me precisely what I need to shift to have desired result. If you ever doubted you could learn to sing online...don’t...check Bulent out...he’s a vocal Jedi.
Miss Bee: Bulent has been helping me practice my original songs. He’s AWESOME. Helped me gain the confidence needed to expand and grow in my art. Thank you!
David Z: Bulent is the consummate professional when it comes to both signing and mentoring others. Bulent helped me to improve in several ways and I would welcome the opportunity to work with him again in the future.
Peter F: Maestro Güneralp has performed admirably at Easter in churches where I served as music director. He is comfortable singing popular and operatic repertoire. Not only a thorough professional, Bülent is also a true gentleman. He goes out of his way to help everyone, is extremely dependable, and is a dedicated teacher who cares about his students. Highly recommended.Dr. Peter Freisinger, conductor and pianist
Berkin Bolukbasi: Wonderful person and a wonderful coach
Carlos Chapa: I've been taking online classes with Bulent Guneralp from GA. So far has been the only teacher that has helped me to learn proper technique, and to correct bad habits, and dismiss wrong conceptions of what singing is.He's very professional, friendly, and always available if you have questions. He's one of the few teachers that has been a professional singer, and you can find him in youtube. This is important as there's many teachers that are not singers, and it makes a huge difference in the knowledge you can get from them.Bulent it's also a great source of knowledge if you like to learn about other singers, and musicians. He can help you with diet and other esencial advice for your both your personal health and your voice health.I encourage you to navigate through his web page to get a better idea of what I'm saying. I totally recommend him as a teacher.
Katharina Kolos: I wish I could give this review 100 stars! In a nutshell: Bulent is the whole package! His knowledge, expertise and in-depth teaching style surpass that of any teacher I have ever worked with and I couldn’t be more grateful to have found him. In one lesson with Bulent I have already learned more than I had learned after almost 3 years with 4 other teachers!!! He's such a kind and wonderfully positive human being and will offer you SO much more than just “singing exercises”. Bulent will – if you’re interested - teach you ideal nutrition, healthy lifestyle habits and positive attitude about life to make you a healthy, well-rounded singer inside and out! Whether you are a novice singer or an established professional, please give Bulent a try! You see, a singer heavily relies on internal “feelings” and “sensations” when trying to sing correctly. And a skilled teacher needs to be able to explain to you what those correct internal sensations should feel like. Bulent is an expert in that!!I FOUND BULENT ON THUMBTACK:Bulent will teach you about the body’s anatomy in great detail (actually really important to know for proper technique!!), he will tell you how and where sound is generated and every single exercise has a distinct purpose! His exercises are unlike anything I have tried before – he ISN’T just your average “sing up and down the scales” kind of teacher - everything he teaches makes so much sense (And I’ve finally understood where my technique had gone wrong all these years!) and he does it with a lot of patience, kindness and compassion!SKYPE LESSONS:I live in Houston, TX, and therefore Bulent and I go through our lessons via Skype (this is my 3rd month with him). It really is SO convenient! I save a lot of time not having to drive anywhere and I know that no matter where I travel or live, I can keep on learning with Bulent, which is really neat!VOCATHLETIC SYSTEM:This was also totally new to me and the coolest thing. Bulent has a precise, written-down (see his website) strategy for how to get you from point A to point B in your vocal journey. As mentioned earlier, there are numerous teachers that will simply throw random exercises at you or worse, not give you any exercises and simply have you sing up and down the scale and emphasize singing higher and higher notes, regardless of whether you are using correct technique, whether it suits your vocal range etc. In Bulent’s view (and I share it 100%) a singer is nothing less than an athlete predominantly using the muscles surrounding the vocal chords, lower abs (and a symphony of various others) to perform. A runner – also an athlete – trains and uses his leg muscles etc. you get the idea, and as a singer we are no different other than that we use a different subset of muscles. And athletes need a proper training plan and regimen, which is exactly what Bulent’s Vocathletic System encompasses. Once you view yourself as an athlete, you realize that proper nutrition and lifestyle choices might also be necessary for ideal performance and Bulent provides countless resources, pointers and information for these areas as well. By the way, Bulent is also a successful bodybuilder (just check out his Instagram page) and you’ll see for yourself that he knows how to train as an “athlete” in general. Last but not least, to me it was important to find a teacher who has had a professional singer career in the first place, because singing for fun and singing on stage professionally are two very different things and having a teacher who can provide real life experiences and stories from being on stage, is another must have!I know my review is super long but I’m just immensely grateful for Bulent’s knowledge and ability to finally explain so many “vocal mysteries” to me!!!Bulent, THANK YOU for all that you have taught me already and I can’t wait to see what more progress we can make during the upcoming years!
Rebecca B.: Thank you Bulent, I so enjoyed my introductory lesson with you! I learned a lot of valuable information in the short time we spent together- about my body and mechanics, intention, pressure, vibration and sound. You are a very skilled and efficient teacher. I totally recommend your introductory lesson to anyone who uses their voice- your system of teaching is unique and eye opening.
Brandon Land: Bulent is great to work with! He really knows how to improve your voice! I also study with Skype from Tennessee and the lessons go just as good as in person. He's paying just as much attention to you as if you were in the same room. I look forward to improving with his help.
Muhammad Mosaad: Introductory lesson was very informative! I'm located in South Carolina and currently taking Skype lessons with Bülent and he has given me all the necessary resources for having a healthy and exceptional vocal career. We went over the anatomical structure of different vocal mechanisms and how to engage them effectively. Next, we went over exercises involving several vowels and consonants and how to oscillate between them. He then provided me with several resources to practice scales and to gain a more well-rounded understanding of the entire vocal process. As someone who is very systems-based when it comes to learning new things, I highly recommend Bülent as a vocal teacher.
Yejun Kim: Unlike other teachers, Mr.Guneralp teaches the mechanism of the voice rather than teaching you how to sing immediately. This brought an improvement in my singing that I have never experienced beforehand, and showed me the incredible things I can do with my voice. Because I now know how the voice works, I can see better how to use it to attain a broader range and a variety of techniques. I would 100% recommend Mr.Guneralp to any person seeking help in practicing singing!
Domonique Holloway: I was hesitate at first to follow my dreams to be a singer. I wasn't confident in my voice because I had issues with perfecting my pitches and I had poor breathing techniques. One day I finally decided to hire a vocal coach. I came across many vocal coaches ads but Bulent Guneralp was the one ad that stuck out to me. So I decided to give it a try. I thought I would be wasting my money on lessons because I didn't think I would gain anything from the lessons. I started taking singing lessons with Bulent Guneralp back in August. At first, I didn't understand any of the singing exercises. It was something new and a challenge I had to accomplish. Bulent Guneralp is very patient and understanding when it comes to his students. Overtime I was able to perfect the singing exercises and understand how the singing exercises actually helped improved my breathing technique when I sing. I recorded myself singing last week and was amazed of how my voice sounded. Bulent Guneralp has helped me gain confidence in my voice because I didn't know how my voice should sound. Thanks Bulent Guneralp!
Adam Stone: My son, Adam, feels extremely lucky to have connected with Bulent and become his student. Adam started working with Bulent after he was cast in a lead role in his school’s musical. We live in Charlotte, North Carolina, and therefore Adam works virtually with Bulent via Skype. During each lesson, Bulent purposefully and clearly teaches Adam vocal techniques and fundamentals that literally change the way he is able to sing. Every lesson is so rich with information and practice. Bulent is extremely attentive, preparing for the lessons beforehand with the music Adam needs to review, and he is very focused on helping Adam achieve his goals during each session. Adam’s performance as Michael Banks in Mary Poppins was a huge success. He sang beautifully, and with confidence. We look forward to continuing to work with Bulent.
Anu Rama: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I’ve learnt simple techniques and steps that are easy to put into practice from Bulent that show results right away. He makes the lessons fun and is ever- encouraging and kind.
Ruth Park-Hong: I completed the one hour introductory lesson over the summer and left full of new information, along with plenty to process and practice. I was highly impressed by Bulent’s expertise, professionalism, and efficiency, and continue to be. He shares many resources that are relevant and help deepen my understanding of my voice. He is very respectful regarding my goals and limited musical background. In the first lesson, Bulent explained at length how the voice works which was totally new to me. He even addressed some myths which I had actually been taught and unknowingly believed.A few months in, I continue to be impressed by Bulent's love for music, expertise, the quality of his lessons, and his professionalism. He is rigorous, while also thoughtful. Our lessons are full (no wasted time) and he does not mince words. He respectfully addresses the areas that need work so that I don't continue making errors. Bulent is responsive to all my emails and face to face questions. He regularly directs me to additional resources to maximize my growth. I highly recommend him as a voice teacher!
Anna Rotkiewicz: Unbelievably how much my 12 y old daughter learned just in 1 lesson! He is not only excellent singer and teacher, but also understands the wholistic way of taking care of a singer. We are looking forward to continue our amazing journey through voice lessons with Bulent!
