Modern Underground: what do users think?
Laura Borgia: This used to be the best little speakeasy around. But tonight there was a line outside and when you were finally let in the bartenders were hanging out chatting and not waiting on those at the bar. The music was super loud. What a disappointment this became
Dustin Lemke: Came here on St Patrick’s Day and the pastry shop was very busy, but there was almost no one downstairs at the bar. Definitely and great place for a more laid-back atmosphere.
Shreya: Went last night, there were 2 bartenders. We sat at the bar and the bartender we had was so rude. He seemed like he thought he was hot stuff because he was a bartender, and clearly he did not care about customer service or satisfaction. He also was not just rude to us, we saw him being rude to many other customers too. The drinks were definitely good but truly that bartender ruined the experience. We waited a while to get in and honestly if I went back and saw him bartending again I would leave.
Matt Gregory: Loved everything about this little speakeasy. Some friends and I were in town from Iowa and visited almost every bar on the north end and this was our favorite. There were plenty of bars that were older or had more character but the service and the fact you had to walk through a pastry shop to get to it are what did it for us. Melanie, our bar tender was fantastic and very personable. David, the owner, was there as well and hooked us up with whatever we needed. Thank you both for showing these outta towners a great time in Bean Town.
Sarah Patt: I have visited Modern Underground a handful of times and coincidentally always had the same bartender wait on us. His name is Ben and he is super friendly, funny, & efficient and incredibly cute!!! He makes a mean espresso martini, too! ;) I will be back & hope Ben's there!
Bateman: The drinks were so bad they were barely drinkable. We got a banana and espresso martini and they were both way too sweet and spirit heavy, also overpriced. Cool bar, I would stick to the beer or wine.
Dean Geiger: Fantastic! Best cannoli ever!
Y T: The ambience was wonderful and food was good as well, had a great time there with my friends and enjoyed the stand up comedy together!
Brennan Degen: Best baked goods in Boston. Incredible. Service was great too.
Susan Hofmann: Hands down the best pastey shop in the North End! Long lines are worth the wait for scrumptious Italian desserts. Chocolate Ganache made with light, silky smooth chocolate mousse. My daughter had a hand made cannolli filled with custard that was smooth and. tich with flavor. Wafer cone was crisp and crunchy, a perfect blend. The shop offers a dessert for everyone from pastries, cannololis to cookies. Cash only!
Tony D'Antonio: Late Saturday night, waited about 10 minutes upstairs for 2 seats downstairs. Sat at the bar and the bartender couldn't have been nicer. It was busy, and he was hustling, but still managed to talk/joke with us and make sure everyone was having fun... and the Pistachio, Banana Bread, and Cinnamon Toast Crunch Martinis were delicious!
Nathaniel Holmes: Favorite hidden gem for an after dinner drink (and cannoli) in the city.
Rick Ciesla: First espresso martini, outstanding! Service was great.
Ana Isabel Rodríguez: Dine in: Yes Takeout: YesMore
Scott Satinover: Modern Pastry deserves far more attention than it gets. The style is old but maintained, reminisce of local bakeries from many years ago. This place is flowing with historical charm. The canolis are second-to-none. Get it chocolate dipped for an extra touch that will blow your mind.
Ashley Newcomb: A great, secret spot in the north end for delicious espresso martinis and perfectly crispy fries! But the best part is the hospitality!
Byron Rollinson: Not doing trading hours
Chelsea Hurley: Went downstairs with a small group of friends to enjoy dessert and drinks. We sat there for 20 minutes until a very rude waitress came over to inform us that we were not allowed to sit at the table unless we were ordering drinks or food. We informed the waitress that we had been waiting to order drinks to which she replied “you need to order at the bar we figured everyone knew” and then she left us sitting there. Did not offer us food or menus.. did not apologize for the misunderstanding (considering we had not been before and there were no signs indicating that drinks could only be ordered at the bar). Safe to say we not be returning.
Jesse Bracken: I wish I could say it sucked to keep the masses away but I can't. This place is amazing, from the awesome bartenders to the great food and drinks. I promise you won't be disappointed.
Carl Noe: Vanilla cannoli is amazing. It’s cash only.
Deb Dusansky: Horrible service

Juliana Harris: Fast and friendly service along with amazing food and drinks- one of my new favorite restaurants in the city! Loud but fun atmosphere in a beautifully decorated space.Recommended dishes Pork Empanadas, Sweet Corn Arepas, Avocado Con Mojo …More
Ulises Estero: Recommended dishes Cuban Doughnut and Coffee, Blackened ShrimpMore
Yvonne Smith: Just awesomeness vibes.!!We sat at the bar, had a great time.Had few appetizers they were all good, our bartender did such a wonderful job with our cocktails.Loved the ambiance, music and fantastic servers.
Laura Bonilla: The place is beautiful and the server was really good, the food on the other side is not good. Out of the mix appetizers we got only one was ok. The arepas with crab meat were not cooked, the guacamole had no salt or lime.
Sai Mynampati: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Fufú Gnocchi, Avocado Con MojoMore
divine Onyeme: Amazing tapas style food! I loved the blackened shrimp and the shrimp flatbread. Every dish I tried was both aesthetically pleasing and appetizing. Drinks were great and service was good. Will definitely be back!Recommended dishes Avocado Con Mojo, Blackened Shrimp …More
Chelsea P: Tl:dr - lively ambience, flavorful food albeit overpriced, terrible service by dismissive and rude hostess staff (lovely servers and bussers)The hostesses the night of April 21st were very unprofessional and gaslit me about cancelling my reservation. We had a 6:30 reservation, got there at 6pm and gave them my name. They said our table wasn’t ready - all good. 6:40 rolls and multiple parties have gotten tables before us from the bar, I ask them about the status of our table, and the hostesses said I cancelled our table, their system indicates we called them at 3pm that day. I asked them how that makes sense when 1) they told us we had a table 2) I never called them 3) when I have called various times days before no one picks up the phone at any given time nor gives a call back. I showed them a text I received the day before confirming my rez. I asked if I made a cancellation then I should have received a email or text, they said yes yet somehow I had neither. One girl in particular wouldn’t look me in the eye and just said there’s nothing she can do, very dismissive and haughty. I’ve never in my life asked to speak to a manager but their behavior was just rude. There was no accountability or professionalism. I’ve worked in the industry for years prior and never in my life would I ever act with such dismissive behavior. We finally got a table, no apology from the manager or the hostesses, definitely ruined my birthday night. Thanks, Mariel.
Thomas Siepka: Food: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5More
Sara S: Very rude hostess. Poor service . Its not worth it to spend money
Ida Li: Amazing location for an afterwork dinner or a weekend date night! The vibes are comfortable. You can choose to go for drinks at the bar, which are first come first serve, or you can choose to be seated. It can be a bit loud at night especially after 9.Food was amazing. They're all shareable sizes and smaller portions to go with the drinks.
Daria Gorbenko: Veeery beautiful place. Food and cocktails were great. A little not enough service (plain and basic) to be a 5 star
Jennifer Sereda: Beautiful restaurant, ambiance was perfection. Randy took care of us, a large group, with ease. He delivered the best service we ever had. Ever. Food was amazing. Top dishes- avocado con mojo, tuna con crudo, arepas, empanadas and the pizza with mushrooms and arugula, all AMAZING! We all shared the mango mahi, steak papas and lechon Asado. If in Boston- this is a must visit.
Connor Olczak: Incredible experience for a group of 5 - every dish was great! The vibe is great and the food is even better! Also - Randy took care of us like no other. must try!
Adam Hine: From them food, service, to the atmosphere, everything was amazing!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Pretty pretty: Love this place. It’s one of the best place around Boston!
Marco Ugolotti: Update 4/22: great cocktails and vibe as usual …. Better food this time… not the place to have the best food in Boston but I believe it deserves 4 stars for the overall experience and great service.Great place for drink and music . Fantastic vibe. Cocktails are well done. But food is really below avg for the price you pay. This is my second time after long time (caused by pandemic) and the food the first time was definitely better and bigger quantity. Don’t take the pizza …. It is ridiculously small. All the small plates are very small and the “big plates” are not that big. $80 for share steak full of giant potatoes and a very small steak ( not very good). Bottom line …. Go for drinks and vibe… but eat somewhere else.
James Toubia: The restaurant is beautiful with great service and a fun vibe. Really enjoyed my nightFood: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Alejandro López: Terrible service, employees at the door where really rood and not worth paying for what it really is. I would definitely won’t go back. 0 stars.Parking: There’s only parking for expensive cars.
Grace Li: I think everyone is very disappointed by the food, very small portion, overpriced and Ok taste. You will be surprised by the pizza size, definitely don’t come to this place if you are hungry, and be prepared to spend at least over $100 per person if you want to feel full after this meal. The service is rude, rushing ppl to leave constantly.Overall I believed 99% of ppl will decide to never come to this place again.
James Brooks: Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5More
Veronika: The place is gorgeous. I love their chandeliers, walls and all the little details of Havana style era.

Parisa S.: Great food and service was amazing! Perfect date night spot, small and cozy restaurant.Recommended dishes Duck Confit, Bolognese …More
River Tam: Got on a wait list through Resy. When we got there, waitress tells us she has no idea what list we're talking about. She can't possibly seat us for an hour. We step outside because the place is tiny and we're in the way. One person goes back in to make sure we can get the table only to be told it's reserved, so we can't get a table in an hour, either. Both times, the waitress was rude to us apparently for having the audacity to not be familiar with the size or set up if the restaurant. We took an Uber to another restaurant and were just seated when Resy texted to let us know there was a cancelation and we could be seated. Absolutely not. Not with that attitude.
Emily Schackmuth: My friends and I had a wonderful dinner here over the weekend. Cute, cozy & perfect food. Establishment was small however the service was top notch and the food was amazing. Get the garlic soup (sounds freaky but please just get it and dunk your bread in it). Intimate AF and well worth your $. Go here. Make the resy and you won’t be disappointed.
Luis Dieguez: Muy buena comida, el lugar es pequeño y se llena rápido, preferible reservar, pero fue una buena experiencia culinaria
Hannah L: Last time we were here it was cold and very dark I don't think I was able to actually enjoy the food. But this time...the short ribs gnocchi. Unforgettable. Worth trying at least once.

Alvaro M. Guzman: We found this place trying to get some dinner in the city, such a great surprise! It’s small but cozy. The staff was great and the food even better. The desert we choose was ok, but the main course was delicious. Good selection of Italian wines.
Ibrahim Mansoor: Last night, my fiancé and I ventured into the world of Italian cuisine to celebrate her birthday at Grotto, and boy, did it leave us in a food coma worth every bite! The journey began with navigating parking options, which included street parking and parking lots. But to save yourself from the parking puzzle, I'd recommend hitching a ride with Uber and cruising right up to the door.Upon entering Grotto, we were greeted by a cozy, intimate space adorned with charming brick walls. The noise level occasionally spiked, thanks to some enthusiastic patrons who couldn't contain their love for Italian food (or perhaps they were shouting for joy over their dishes). Pro tip: a louder music volume might keep the chatterboxes in check. The service was swift, and we dove right into the Primi, Secondi, and Dolce menu at $46 per person. Here's a glimpse of our gastronomic extravaganza:My Order:• Garlic Soup (Black Truffle, Parmesan, Bread crumbs): like a warm hug from Nonna on a cold day• Carne (Grilled tenderloin, Parmesan Risotto, Asparagus, Red wine sauce): a symphony of tenderness, cheesiness, and deliciousness• Budino (Banana bread pudding, Spiced Walnuts and caramel, Salted Caramel ice cream): dessert heaven, need I say more?My Fiancé's Order:• Cavatelle (House prepared ricotta pasta, Sausage, Peas, Mushroom, Pancetta, Cream): Nana-approved goodness in every bite• Pesce (Seared farm-raised salmon in a creamy lemon and butter sauce, Grilled broccolini & spinach): cooked to fin-tastic perfection• Tiramisu (Ladyfingers, Mascarpone, Espresso, Cocoa, Whipped Cream): espresso-lly delightful, finger-lickin' good! Our taste buds were treated to a rollercoaster ride of flavors and textures, each dish an ode to the chef's mastery of Italian cuisine. The Carne's tender steak and heavenly Parmesan Risotto left me questioning if I'd stumbled into a dream, while my fiancé - an Italian food connoisseur - raved about the authenticity of her Cavatelle and the succulent salmon. As we reached the grand finale of our meal, the decadent Tiramisu and Banana Bread Pudding left us floating on a cloud of dessert bliss. Kudos to the chef for their excellent timing and attention to detail! And now, the cherry on top: the price. For all the food we ordered, plus 2 drinks each and a 20% gratuity, our total was a jaw-dropping $137.16. Talk about a steal for such an exquisite dining experience! In conclusion, Grotto has won us over with its humorously noisy charm, mouthwatering dishes, and wallet-friendly prices. If you're in the mood for Italian cuisine that will make you laugh, cry (tears of joy, of course), and come back for more, Grotto is the place to be. Buon appetito!
Jeffrey Marquez: Great Italian restaurant. Top quality..Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Ted H: Love coming here. Small, intimate restaurant with great service. The 3-course prefix is the way to go, my favorites being the Patata Dolce (sweet potato ravioli), Carne (tenderloin over risotto), and the Cioccolato dessert. Always a great experience!
Mackenzie Griffith: Had the price fixe meal. Each course was better than the last! Small restaurant so definitely make reservations.
Anthony McCullough: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5More
Abri: I was very pleased with this restaurant, so much so I would come back. I would go to try more of their food and drinks options. I thought the place was pretty affordable and our waiter was very kind and nice. I liked the ambiance and how intimate and small it was.My salmon meal was absolutely delicious that sauce it was in was amazing. The banana bread dessert so good!!!I gave a 4 only because the the caesar salad dressing tasted like mayo, my ravioli was great but it seems like the sauce it was sitting in was bacon fat which was not tasty and lastly my fiance meal was great but it just needed some black pepper and salt.Other than those minor things, I really enjoyed my time there.
Kai Shraiberg: Very classic and sophisticated restaurant. Don't go here if you're looking for an updated, hip, modern meal or vibe. It's a perfect home in the wall for seriously romantic and intimate dinners.Wheelchair accessibility: Difficult but not impossible if you have someone helping you get in and move around.
Scott Miller: Food was great, service was great, and the room is very cool.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Bethany Mayo: Delicious meal and great service! Small intimate setting suitable for smaller parties. A little drafty so bring a coat. If you want to go here show up very early or make a reservation.
Anaya Barmecha: Cute date spot but limited options for vegetarians. Food was alright - the ravioli did not come out hot
Mark Mikhaeal: We had a great experience at Grotto! Food, drinks, and the atmosphere were amazing, highly recommend!

Milkweed: what do users think?
Lynsey Kirk: Milkweed is a great spot for breakfast/brunch or lunch (I haven't tried the dinner). The food was well made but was just a little under seasoned, but nothing a little salt and pepper couldn't fix. I tried the salmon cakes and grits. The cakes were flavorful and crispy on the outside. The grits were cheesy with a slightly sweet finish, which may be off-putting to some, but I liked it. I did add a little salt though. The dish is served with scrambled eggs, which were fine. The breakfast sausage is good too.The service was fine, they could have been a little more attentive. The restaurant is busy, that's for sure, and there are long wait times, so go early or maybe call ahead. The atmosphere is nice, compact. A little noisy, but you can easily hold a conversation.Street parking only and not much availability.
Sel: The food was mediocre, coffee was watered down. There was also a strand of hair in my food. Service was ok
Samantha Gracia: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Morning MadnessMore
Eric Ding: Milkweed is a cute little place in Mission Hills and a decent spot to get brunch in the area. The menu isn't groundbreaking by any means (pretty standard American fare) but the food is solid and the wait staff is attentive and warm. It can get a little loud since the tables are close together if you're not sitting at a booth, but otherwise it was a good meal and I'd come back. I appreciate their breakfast being served well into the afternoon.
Sincere Yemaya: My server was really nice but there was here inside of my food and also inside of my cappuccino
Victoria Antoine (Mademoiselle Antoine): Very cute spot for Sunday brunch with a good friend who you haven't seen for a while. I highly recommended milk weed. Very intimate and cute small spot at Mission Hill.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Vincent Cheung: Great for a casual breakfast or a date spot! All of the food coming out smelled amazing so it was hard to decide what to get. We ultimately decided on trying some of their specialties. The shakshuka was very tasty and paired well with the bread. My only critique is that I wish the bread was served on the side instead of in the pan because by the time it got to the table the pillowy bread already got soggy (still very tasty) in the parts submerged in the shakshuka. The Dutch baby had the perfect fluffy texture and paired well with the small mountain of strawberries and whipped ricotta. The service was nice and quick so no complaint there. My advice would be to get there on the earlier side because when we got seated around 10:30 we didn’t have to wait but by the time we left there was a 30-45 min wait.
Sang Cho: Hairy calamari 😭
Juerg Maier: Great place to get an all American Breakfast, including espresso grade coffee
anna yamamoto: Went here for lunch and had the Spanish omelette. The food was great and you get a huge portion for what you pay. The bread especially was very crispy and tasted great! The omelette was fluffy and full of filling. The potatoes were a little cold and bland but not bad.
Nancy Zesch: Huge servings for breakfastFood: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Sarrah Marcotte: This is a sweet spot, classic brunch spot. Great brunch and great drinks. I love taking people here because its such a fun environment and they have reasonable prices. There is often a wait, but that is to be expected at places worth eating at I feel like, It is definitely busy for good reason.
VW: Waited almost 2 hours and finished in 30 minutes since it is so loud in store (be careful yelp user, even if you stay in line online, you still need to check-in in person in order to be on the “Real” line.)Not the worse but not the best… Hot Chocolate however is SOOO watery and bad, they are basically selling Swiss miss for $6…. Tatte has wayyyy better hot cocoa with real melted style chocolate. No substitutions, you will be charge extra for home fries replacement (didn’t notice until bill come). Won’t be coming again since most of the items can be made at home, and it’s just not worth the wait on a nice Sunday.
Asif Iqbal: Food: 3/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 4/5More
Brenda Franquiz: Breakfasts was so delicious the home fries had an earthy sweet taste and the chocolate chip pancakes were delicious even without syrup 😋 👌 Definitely going back.
Azra Villon: Came in for breakfast & order took too long to come out to the table. I lost my appetite & left.
Rosemary Wu: Absolutely fantastic!!! We got three dishes and two drinks. The service is very nice and fast. Workers all have the best attitudes ever. It was so affordable too. The food was absolutely deliciousRecommended dishes Falafel Shakshuka, Buttermilk Fried Chicken, Dutch Baby Pancake …More
Phi Leovich: Food: 2/5More
Whitney Gumbs: (accidentally posted this review from my other account- reposting here with the right account).SO WORTH IT.I visited Milkweed yesterday and man was it good! The portion was quite filling. I would say the flavor is spot on. We enjoyed a croissant sando and all the items we added were tasty. I only wish the sandwich was warmer? But I digress. The service was great and the food came out pretty quick. We went for a breakfast. The prices were reasonable (not crazy for boston) We essentially spent 60 bucks on two people and we each got two shareable plates, two individual plates and drinks. Parking was fine but then again we went on a Friday morning. Definitely go early.Parking: Parking wasn’t bad for a Friday morning. I imagine it does get busier. Go early and on a weekday!
Andrés Duplat: Next time you come here just check in the Yelp app and check in the restaurant, their waiting list system does not work and you will get frustrated. Do yourself a favor and just check in the restaurant

Twitchy: Good place for late night food in downtown Boston. Arriving on a late flight into Boston, there's not a lot of full service restaurant options in the downtown area after 9 pm. At Bostonia Public House we had the hot lobster roll, pasta vongole and fish & chips. The food and service were very good. As an fyi, it does get pretty noisy once the live entertainment starts.
Jerrie Arredondo: Great service, great food.

Toro: what do users think?
Ida Li: Heard about this restaurant from a friend! Great place for having conversations over a light meal and some drinks.Food overall was delicious. Portion size are small particularly because it's a Spanish tapa style meant to be shared amongst the table.Atmosphere was beautiful. I highly recommend getting a seat outdoors for the summer. It's much roomier and comfortable. You can definitely also go in the winter but it'll be really cold! It's a bit on the pricier side but it's a nice treat.
Owen Tredennick: Asado de Huesos was one of the best things I have ever tasted. Can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, so mix it up!Will be back again and again…and again.
Caitlin McPheron: Authentic Spanish tapas style restaurant. They offer Iberian ham, manchego cheese, bocadillos among other Spanish staples. Great Spanish wine selection as well. We ordered asado de huesos, jamón ibérico, queso de cabra, and maíz asado for two people and it was plenty. Service was great and atmosphere was cozy. Highly recommend.
Dustin Maneethai: Excellent tapas served fresh. The paella was definitely a star but it's quite filling. For two I would recommend the paella and perhaps 3 tapas dishes. The service was excellent. In fact our waters never seemed to drain and we couldn't figure out why.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Tapas, Paella Valenciana …More
Rahma Hida: One of the best tapas places in Boston! The staff is so friendly and accommodating. The food is delicious. The atmosphere and ambience is just right.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Cristian Suarez: Because of how good the tapas was, I’m giving it a four star. But considering how low-key trash the drinks were, I’d give it a limp 3 star. Fun atmosphere though.
Chingsung Chang: Tables are a bit small. Food is good, but be prepared to spend a decent amount. Overall I do think it is a bit on the pricier side, but there's enough on the menu that's unique. The paella was a tad disappointing though, especially for a Spanish placeFood: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 3/5Recommended dishes Patatas Bravas Fried …More
Jing Wu: Worst Manager!!! Waitlist shows around 45 minutes, but We have waited for 90 mins with no calls or messages. When we asked them, they said they had sent the message, which we didn’t receive it. The solution from manager is waiting another 120 minutes. The most ridiculous solution ever heard.
Alejandra Ortiz: We shared 4 plates: mushrooms with the egg, shishito peppers, shrimps, churros and flan. Everything was good and the choice of drinks and cocktails too. Bartenders were very attentive and recommend us good drinks. I highly recommend the place for the ambiance, latin music, drinks and food plus the excellent service!Recommended dishes Gambas Al Ajillo, Churros Chocolate Sauce …More

chad svastisalee: Toro is uniquely located on Washington Street in the South End. One thing to know... fresh tapas are always A-Mazing and sharing with your family and besties make meals memorable. Just eating Spanish food because you know it’s delicious is a treat in itself. Toro is a must place to check out. The best way to tapas is to order a little bit of everything, and if you come across something you don’t love, that’s ok. Toro customized our menus with our son's name and boy was he surprised! Sit in their heated outdoor patio or inside the bustling hot spot and you'll be in good hands either way. Don’t let the crowd or wait for a table ruin the whole experience. The local beer selection is good, paired well with our tapas. We started with batatas bravas, calamari with shishito peppers and a well thought charcuterie board to start. Every pinxtos was delicious. Ostros Escabeche, island creek Oysters we're swimming in flavor and although we thought the Empanadas were a bit over fried, they were still tasty inside. We shared two rounds of Risotto de Longostos, it was devine and our boys favorite. The attention to detail to seasoning, plating and staff are on point at Toro.
amora nadia: Plenty vegan optionsRecommended dishes Churros Chocolate Sauce, Corn on the Cob …More
Steven M: Hometown favorite and most delicious food.we come here at least once a weekHighly recommended
Kunal G: It’s a great restaurant. More seafood choices than other meat, great service.Recommended dishes Fried, Tapas, Churros Chocolate Sauce …More
julesss1: No regards for allergies and dietary restrictions- served two dishes with allergens after clearly stating otherwise.

Wink & Nod: what do users think?
Lara Cohen: Aims for speakeasy vibes but truly misses the mark. Went on a Friday night for drinks without a reservation. Was plenty of seating available (at least half the tables were empty), but was told we had to sit at the bar, which is fine. Bar service was fine. Cocktails were mediocre at best. Cheap glasses, average garnishes, average liquor, below average taste. Overwhelmingly small cocktail selection, larger selection of whiskey. The ambiance just misses- too bright, too much empty space, bad music. Much better, friendlier, cozier options in the area with better ambiance. Truly average.
Victor Lavi: This gave off the vibe of a TGI Fridays circa 1998 and a try hard, just off the strip, Vegas restaurant that somehow inherited the most ridiculous Fat Tuesday/Señor Frogs looking cocktail glasses. It ends up being neither, but offered more of a Marriott hotel bar near an airport (minus the complimentary airport shuttle) experience. The cocktails were weak and the offering was limited FOR A COCKTAIL BAR. 80% of the table were available but “reserved” at 8:30pm for a non-existent dinner crowd, so I can’t comment on the food. But I could smell the oil fryer from the bar, so I don’t need to try it. If you’re 23, and trying to impress someone that’s never been to a bar, or who hasn’t been to a bar in 25 years, this might be your spot. There’s a nice selection of whiskey if things like poor service, bad ambience, and limited menu options aren’t your thing.
Marco Anaya: Great atmosphere and the bartenders are awesome! There was a tall one, funny dude, kinda look like a GOT character
Steven Perry: Great whiskey bar. Huge selection, great atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Hannah: Me and my friend celebrated our joint birthdays and the service was absolutely fantastic!!! Carlos (our server), Emma (the manager), and the bartender were great. we will come back soon!!!
Katie Giles: Cool environment, we moved to the bar and enjoyed watching people make drinks
Roberto Chadwick: Great food! Great service! Great environment! Not to mension super reasonable prices :)
Faruk Obut: Good atmosphere, okay food, not very good service. BUT; The reason I’m writing this review is the following. We had dinner Saturday night, I left a reasonable tip for okay service. Later on I happened to notice how much tip was added to my card and it was much more than than what I tipped. I spoke the the manager about it but she did not seem surprised and was evasive when I asked if this happens commonly at this restaurant. I also saw some others mentioned in their reviews in this regard. I did not want a refund. I wanted them to be aware in case there’s a trend. This has never happened to me before but I’m hoping it’s not a common thing. This is fraud.
Anna Karavaykina: Did not try the food but the cocktails are very good, especially ace of spades (mind blowing!) Don’t understand where bad rating comes from, it’s a nice place!
Michelle Donovan: Awesome, dark, and relaxing bar. Bartenders are attentive and know exactly what they’re doing.
David N.: Super expensive food, tiny portions, weak drinks.
Paige: I was there last Saturday, the Bill was 187$ , I paid 10$ tip on the card plus 20$ cash . I just noticed today that my credit card was charged for 217$ I don’t know how !!! The food tasted good but the portions super small.
Kristopher Kelley: Wonderful cocktails and excellent small plates
Ravisara L: Wink and Nod is an underground cocktail bar located in the heart of Chinatown in Boston. The highlight of this place is undoubtedly the cocktailsI recommend trying the Tea Party cocktail. It's a delicious blend of tea-infused gin, lemon, and honey that's perfect for sipping on a night out. Another drink I would recommend for whiskey lovers is the Ace of Spaces, also known as the black card cocktail. It's a highly aromatic and complex concoction. That said, the service was a bit slow, which could be frustrating if you're in a rush or trying to catch a show or movie after. Additionally, the ventilation in the bar area might not be great, as you can smell the aroma of Chinese food quite strongly. This can be a bit off-putting for some patrons.Overall, if you're looking for a unique and intimate spot to enjoy a well-crafted cocktail, Wink and Nod is worth a visit. Just be prepared to wait a bit for your drinks and perhaps breathe in some of the local cuisine's scents.
Gina Pacelli: Chef Louis DiBiccari is outstanding. Our food was absolutely delicious, and I cannot wait to go back!
Erin Pi: We arrived a few minutes early for our 8:30 reservation and were seated right away. Our waiter, Carlos, took our drink order 20 minutes after we were seated and then we saw him twice the whole 2 hours we were there! Other staff brought our food and refilled our water once. The second time he came around we asked for a dessert menu and he told us the kitchen was closed. It was now 10:15. We then had to track down another staff member for our check. Drinks were delicious but small and over priced. We won’t hurry back.
Sergio Solis Checa: My wife and I were there on a date night, and we had a great time. The atmosphere is great, super comfortable and amazing service. The drinks were perfectly prepared, just like the food.I definitely recommend it for couples looking for a nice place for dinner and drinks.
Shayla Lynn: First time in the restaraunt last night with my S.O but unfortunately won't be back! I will say on the positive side that the atmosphere is beautiful and the main meals do taste great. Saving grace of the night was our waitress, who was very kind/attentive/apologetic.I made my reservations online the night prior and selected a 945pm reservation at the fireplace. It should be noted that you can continue to make reservations past 11pm and the place is open until 2am. We were sat and unfortunately there really isn't a fireplace let alone a fire (it looks like just a hole in the wall with metal decorations inside). Seating here is more like low lounge chairs with small coffee table in front of you. You can definitely make it work as the table has 2 shelves - plenty of space. We were informed as soon as we sat that the kitchen closes at 10pm so we had to order everything we wanted including dessert right then. It's not indicated anywhere online kitchen closes at 10 and this was especially confusing given you could reserve tables past 11. But no worries! We looked at the menu ahead of time and would've been able to order right then. Wrong! The online menu doesn't reflect what's actually being offered in the restaraunt as the menu "changes frequently". What we had wanted wasn't being offered. I hope you don't want the burger, its not there. This is true of the drink menu as well. Found alternative meals and ordered. For food, you do have the option of adding black truffle for an additional cost. IMO *always* worth it, truffles are a favorite and absolutely delicious. I ordered the steak frites and added truffle. No truffle to be found once served and I had to make sure with the waitress it wouldn't reflect on the bill ($30 upcharge for the truffle). Waitress looked too and didn't see them :( The food did taste wonderful, the favorite of the night was my boyfriends short rib. A little pricey, small portions, aesthetically pleasing. We also did order the pot de creme for dessert which was never served, the kitchen long closed. When we were ready to ask for the check we did mention that the dessert was never served. Confused, the waitress went to go check in the back saying "I do KNOW they made it, let me go check". She did bring one out shortly albeit pretty melty.Oh! Also prior to arrival, parking was very hard to find and we spent a lot of time looping around to try and find somewhere. I tried calling the restaurant to let them know where we were in case we ended up being late but no answer - all 6 times. Left a voicemail and also didn't hear back.Overall it wasn't the rare date night that either of us planned or expected. Made the best of it between the two of us but with the many negatives we wouldn't waste our time or money going back. Would not recommend which is such a shame because the atmosphere is gorgeous and the food tasted good. Clearly has potential but needs to work on transparency big time.
Hassan Thompson: Crowd and atmosphere are amazing.
Cameron Werning: Very good cocktails - Super creative riffs on classics. Food was delicious and servings were generous. Service was attentive and the staff knew the menu well. I’d definitely be back for drinks and food!
Millie Obregon: This place is a bigger speakeasy vibe like place to go to. We got seated at a table by the bar where the people were super loud and the host was super kind and ended up moving us to a table away from the bar. This made our experience way better as it gave us more of an intimate setting to enjoy our cocktails. As far as cocktails are concerned, we tried the Phoenix, tea party, and the Pal O’ Mine. Our favorite by leaps and bounds was the Tea Party. It was perfectly concocted and very smooth. I could’ve had 5 of these easily. The Phoenix tastes like a pisco sour and I did not taste my friend’s Pal O’ Mine.I would recommend the drinks here and would come back for another Tea Party cocktail!

Saltie Girl: what do users think?
Sara Abdelaziz: Every time I visit Boston, I have to eat there. People are friendly, the service is great, the food is to die for.
Mikey Schaubroeck: Oysters were great. Fried clams were life changing!
Vi Mouzon: Truly enjoyed my fish and chips. Very fresh and fried well.

Minh Anh Bui: Visited this place twice. I’ll have to say that it’s an expensive restaurant but the food is really nice, especially the lobster roll (very buttery and seafood-y). We enjoyed the meal, but again, it was expensive. I would recommend this place if you want to hang out once in a while not every day….Recommended dishes Seafood, Lobster Roll …More

Daniel-Eric Wirtz: Unfortunatly our evening at Saltie Girl Boston was horrible. We had a reservation and were send downstairs. We stood there and no one cared for us. We had to ask a waiter were we should sit. He went to the hostess which then arrived and only then were we seated. Then we ordered oysters as Appetizer. We wanted two of each. Instead we got less then ordered and pointed that to the waiter out. He then brought us a plate with the missing ones. The problem here was that they weren‘t placed clockwise like in the other oyster restaurants in Boston ( like the little whale or Selected Oysters )so we didn‘t know which oyster we were eating. As we went through this course, they already brought the Entrée which is just not acceptable. The waiter didn‘t seem to understand why we wouldn‘t want our hot meals mixed with our order from the raw bar. He acted like we were screaming at him which we weren‘t. Then, which seemed to be the restaurant manager, came to our table apologized and took the warm dishes away for later but explained, that this were normal here, like Tapas. We are from Europe. No original Tapas restaurant in Spain would mix hot tapas with cold ones. These are always seperated courses. As we had finished our Oysters we got the Entrée which wasn‘t that good. The beef of the burger had no seasoning and no taste at all and the Pasta was over seasoned. When we ordered the check, they had charged us twice the main courses which they then changed after complaining. It gave us the feeling that they wanted to fraud us.Overall our stay at Saltie Girl was an horrible experience which cost us a lot money which wasn‘t it worth.
Veronika Chula: Best lobster roll you could ever have!
Shiva N: The mood here is amazing. The drinks are even better! Recommend the basil cocktail.
A A: Came in as a walk in and given an awful wonky table. Host did not even care to fix it. Waiter never showed up. N one brought water. Place needs improvement in management and organization. Go elsewhere and save your money.Food: 1/5|Service: 1/5|Atmosphere: 1/5 …More
Allie: Food was pretty good/decent, atmosphere is awesome and fun. Definitelty make a reservation because the place gets packed. Service is average.
Linda Joy: Bartender unfriendly. Worst cocktail sauce ever.
Robin Way: Loved loved loved the tinned mussels and sardines, and the seared sea scallops were awesome.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
N: Food was good and service inside restaurant too. But the front desk hostess was absolutely awful and needs a lesson in customer service… or a job that doesn’t involve speaking to people. The restaurant mistakenly changed my reservation time without my request and rather than work to accommodate and take accountability on the error the hostess was extremely rude and dismissive. She would speak over me and tell me “move aside” and that whatever time in her system is when the table will be ready, regardless of whatever email/text proof I had on my end.Bad attitude but the rest of the staff made up for it. Good job to the managers for rectifying.
Matthew Naneville: Came here at 9:30 PM with a party of 5 to get a late night bite. We were told that only the bar was open and they were serving a limited menu until 9:45 PM. When we went to the bar area, we noticed there was a booth large enough to accommodate us; however, when we went to sit down, we were told the table was reserved, which given the fact that it was 30 mins before close was hard to believe. We ended up leaving and not eating there, but spent close to 15-20 minutes outside of the restaurant trying to figure out where else to go, during which time no big parties went into the restaurant, which really made it seem like they were lying, being lazy, or probably both. Their late night menu was also limited to seafood cocktail type food, so don’t expect to find their famed lobster roll if you go there after 9 PM. We were very disappointed as this restaurant was on our list of places to eat at while visiting Boston, and this was by far the worst experience we had at any restaurant or place during our entire visit. Their lobster roll may be one of the best, but their laziness and shady behavior left a permanent sour taste in our mouths.
Rob Wienert: No expectations walking in. Walked out having enjoyed Fried Lobster and Waffle. Fantastic!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5Recommended dishes Fried Lobster & Waffles …More
A Stenft: Hate to leave a negative review but this is far from friendly and from from accommodating. Not only did they push our reservation back 45 minutes, they were extremely aggressive towards allowing one additional guest at the table. They had asked the person to leave and were not willing to add a chair when the restaurant was filled with open seats. They clearly aren't out to make sure diners have the best experience possible.
Allen C: Good food, nice place to get together with friendsFood: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Kylie Odparlik: This place was delicious! All the food we had was great. We had a sample of all of their oysters, burger, and lobster roll with salt and vinegar chips. I love being able to try different oysters and tasting the difference in flavor profiles. Also, the lobster roll was perfect served warm with butter on a toasted roll. The prices are a bit high but worth it.

Jude Heichelbech: Don’t arrive early. They won’t seat you. If you find an empty table and try to sit for a moment, the bouncer will grab you by the arm and lift you up! If you try to dance for the last song of the night, staff will come and tell you to stop because they don’t have a “license” for that. After you eat, they’ll remove half your table area to give to others. Also, as others have noted, I saw a mouse run right past a nearby patron’s feet. Our waiter was great. But I found the house staff pretty rude, aggressive and patriarchal. Weird vibe. Will avoid in the future. Too bad! Cool building/live music, decent food/cocktails.
Carlos Ditren: Love it!
Nate Stafford: This place was amazing. Atmosphere was great! Waiter was super friendly and the food was delicious. Jennease Hyatt: So I went to beehive late last night and the vibe was super cute. Band was about to wrap up, waiter was friendly. The drink was AMAZING!!! I'm sitting in full view of the kitchen and suddenly I see mice running all around and I'm like, whoa, ok. They seem to be having party of sorts. I had paid for my drink at this point and I call to the waitress who helped us to tell her what I was seeing. Apparently this was common and she said the manager would come over. The manager never showed up, but two young men dressed in all black did and at this point I am now pointing out the mice running up and down the curtains and the ones in plain view of us while we were talking. And he's like, yea, we've called an exterminator, etc... and I was like, sir! I've seen like 10 mice prancing about, this is just not ok! I couldn't believe how casually ok they were about what was clearly an infestation. Not ok!!!
Sabrina Arguello: I’ve been coming to the Beehive for a few years now and each time is a wonderful and unique experience. I love this spot and I especially love the jazz music that is played throughout the night. Such an awesome spot to have a good drink, great company, and amazing food.
Joana C: Boa vibe, boa música, atendimento rápido.Comida, zero estrelas.
Erin Quinn: Recommended dishes Eggs Benedict with Ham, Eggs ShakshukaMore
Alex Drake (Adrake1234): Food was significant subpar and the drinks we definitely less then that. Over all spent way to much money for atmosphere. Would suggest for vibe. Would not suggest for food or drinkFood: 1/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Wacky Alpacas: Let me first say- prior to tonight Beehive was my absolute favorite restaurant in Boston that I always recommended every out of town visitor to visit. After tonight that is no longer the case.Long story short- our waiter brought us the check before our dinner even arrived at the table. We were very confused but he said it was something about him being “cut”? I asked if I could get another drink before we paid our very early check and he said no, but he told us another waiter would be with us for the rest of the night. Fast forward 30 minutes and no new waiter came and I still didn’t have a drink. My partner got up and asked another staff member for a waiter y they said someone would be right over. We waited another 15, no one came, so we asked someone else and they sent a very stressed out waiter over who ended up giving us the wrong drinks and never came to check in about them.I am so disappointed because this used to be my all time favorite restaurant in Boston for years and it seems they have prioritized making money on increasing capacity over customer experience.**** also important to note- they added standing room in the middle of the downstairs- so unless you are seated in front of the stage/mezzanine you will not see/hear the live music anymore
Geno Brown: It’s a vibe here. Went on a Thursday night and enjoyed the people and music. Get your reservations in earlier or just show up and grab a seat at the bar.
