The Hartigans: We are so thankful for the staff at Charles River Canoe & Kayak! They were knowledgeable, helpful, and patient with all of our questions when purchasing our two used kayaks a few weeks ago. Since we were unsure as to which boats to purchase, we took the opportunity to test drive boats at the Newton site and that staff from start to finish were so friendly allowing us to load, paddle and return back to switch boats with each other, and paddle again. After our "test drives", we drove back to the paddle store to purchase a Loon and a Pungo. We have had the best time on the water already the past few weekends, confident in our equipment and in our transportation strapping, thanks to the awesome staff.

I have used this shop for many things over the years and appreciate all the services they provide. Great shop and people. Have also rented paddle boards and kayaks from there other locations and had a lot of fun over the years.

Sup, kayak and canoes.All manner of gear is on site or available for ordering.Prices are basically MSRP except for used boats, then there is a bit of wiggle room.Bought two kayaks and lots of gear over the past 20 years.Always found them to be fair.I will be back many more times.

But more than that is how happy I am with the service, advice, and attention to my customer needs and “emerging paddling enthusiast” questions. Ben took the time to walk me through kayak options and answered questions thoroughly and engaged with thoughtful conversation that helped us move to the best kayak brand and size for me and then he looked through the inventory to find the best possible showing me exactly what I was getting in a used kayak— which is pretty much a yak with a few scuffs but at about half the price of a new one! I wanted a paddle and once again I felt I was to find not only what I should get but why it was the best for me. I really appreciate how comfortable the sales experience was, the obvious enthusiasm for the sport, and the honest feedback (both pros and the cons) that helped me make an informed purchase! Bonus was good training on how to load my boat on my roof and properly tie it down… a small detail maybe but the extra time to make sure I was safe speaks volumes to how valued I felt.

Charles River had the board in stock and worked with my 3rd party shipper on a holiday weekend so I could get it in time for an upcoming beach trip. When I received the board, I was AMAZED at the care taken in packing it for the journey - bubble wrap, cardboard, and a sock to finish. Would definitely purchase from them again!

Detailed website. You can sign up online. Three locations. I've been to Salem which is terrific (ocean, waves) for SUP and kayaking and Woburn (peaceful pond) for kayaking. Aaron is the best. Terrific customer service! Definitely check them out. Wear water shoes :-)
