Shine Square Pub: what do users think?
lowery powers: Noxious local crowd
Ben: The guy was unfriendly
A2Z HBKN: great atmosphere
Duc Pham: Great spot for drinks!!!! Many big screen tvs for sport entertainment. Atmosphere is chill. Will come again.
Hrudya Viswanadh: What a fun place! Love the drinks, food, and the bartenders!Love their sweet potato fries and chicken slider.
Ian Marlier: Solid beer list, enjoyable atmosphere, and the best staff around.
John Bean: Fun fun fun!!!
Michael Juliano: Easily the best neighborhood bar in the area
Catherine Fairclough: Great prices and amazing food!
David Soy: Had a good time watching the Celtics game there. Had a few beers with the gf, then I got hungry so I grabbed 2 sliders. THEY WERE GREAT! The gf wasn't hungry but I told her you have to taste it. She was also impressed. I gave a 👍 to the chef.
Joey Gelpi: Ordered takeout on a whim. The tots were what you'd expect. The chicken slider was 95% amazing but as other reviews said it was pretty salty. Same with the tots. I'll be trying again with more slider options. Slight bit less salt and it would be perfect.
Richard Hawke: An excellent watering hole. No fuss, just a cool local bar.
john thibodeaux: Great atmosphere and friendly staff!
Michael Grant: The bartender here was insanely disrespectful to our group. It was 12:30am and we asked for a water and beer. Apparently he was done pouting water for the night and immediately responded with an aggressive attitude. Whole family almost got in a brawl with this guy, and luckily for him, cooler heads prevailed and we left. Please skip this spot and spend your money elsewhere.
Danke!
Wes Richard: 10/10 darts set up
Jon Koehly: Friendly dive barGreat wings.
henry forbes: All of the essentials done really well. None of the fluff. Best sliders in town and a hell of a spot to grab a beer and watch a game. Sports bar the way it should be.
LeChévere Portatarjetas: Wanted to give an opportunity to a local bar, completely regretted it when we sat at the table and the bartender threw the coasters for us from the bar to our table, hitting my guests with them. Really rude, how is one supposed to feel welcome in a place like this?
Truthful Reviews: Was with a group of restaurant coworkers. About 9 of us. One of the girls moved a high top table closer to one of the booths so we can all sit. It's a bar it happens all the time. The bartender started screaming and cursing at her saying people can sit where the tables already are. Other patrons continued to laugh at the situation telling me they're just the normal ahole drunk regulars you see. Very unprofessional, especially watching the same bartender take shots with his patrons. Do not recommend. He was wearing a red Sox jersey if that helps anyone.
Justin Savage: The sliders I had were good. They used to have a full menu. Maybe that will return. Fun environment.

Whitneys: what do users think?
What whatter: It’s like a hallway but I can handle that if I have to. Watch out for the darts.
Jonathan Dunlea: … Love the people on here, nitpicking about beer choices, etc.… Here’s the deal: this place is such a dive, I wouldn’t have wanted to spend game 7 of the 2004 World Series with my now wife anywhere else. Today is opening day for the Sox, and I may be at work, but me and my buddy will be thinking about our two seats right in the middle of the bar… so yeah- steer clear of this place, especially the two middle seats…
Deb Barach: We stumbled upon this bar while waiting for a table at a local restaurant. The bartender, Bren, was welcoming and friendly with good energy. After attending a concert at Roadrunner, we decided to head back to Whitney's to complete the night. Bren remembered my name when I walked in, and we had the best time. Fun music too!
Douglas Mort: Crazy small bar, allows way too many people in despite post COVID conditions. The selection of beers is basic and unappealing.
Jason: Excellent neighborhood bar with a friendly, welcoming owner right next to Harvard. I didn't get any pictures but the owner, only the third in 70 years, took a picture of us and it's posted on the wall forever, or until the fourth owner takes over...
Mary Lawson: Please visit with friends you play dots have some wine beer had a good time .
Ina Kelley: Went there with my daughter
Sarah Hall: Fantastic bar. Great selection and awesome bartender. We were there when Dan was working and he was pretty personable and fun to talk to. Will definitely be back.
Joseph Finn: Old style…bar people actually talk to each other…bar staff (Bren) friendly and seems to know everyone’s name and drink preference…drink prices below average but pours way above!Cool place…I will return often!
christopher Angelli: A dive bar in all the best ways.
Bob Rube: Local bar, great bartenders, games always on, cool crowd, and 90's hip-hop music.
Ryan Murry: Five star shout out to Whitneys in Harvard Square. Bren, the bartender, was the best: Witty, smart, fun to chat with. We were looking for a quick glass of wine and a moment’s respite. Perfect place, thanks to Bren.—
Jamie Schultz: Stay Golden, Whitney’s. What a gem in Harvard Square. Will be back for the people and the music always.
Mark Gibson: Outstanding local bar with super friendly staff and great service. Highly recommend for fun Harvard Square hangout pregame or before / after dinner.
Matt Pinaud: They've got drinks, beer and a jukebox. It's in Cambridge but somehow has no pretense and won't make you broke. Like finding a unicorn.
Ronda Dorson: My first time there it was a great little bar to go to my hubby and I will return
Jumbo: It's a great dive bar. Love the bartenders and the atmosphere
Wayne Sawyer: A neighbor bar in Havard Square WHO KNEW great atmosphere and the chili dogs are on the money
Steve Mathieu: Excellent
L Y: Great location run by down to earth people. The outdoor seating has a nice ambiance to it and there are warmers there. Great place to stop by for a beer!
DAVID FEGAN: They have the best hot dogs here. Also, it’s a eating area outside and friendly service.

Toad: what do users think?
What whatter: Rudest staff ever.
Don Nolin: So cozy and homey intimate experience. I just feel so comfortable when i am there
Miguel Magrass: This is my favorite music spot in Greater Boston
Jak Katterfield: Phenomenal hidden gem of a place. Good music, reasonably priced drinks and great atmosphere. They don’t make places like this anymore. 1 of a kind
Amit Kumar Choudhary: What a gem of a place. I was coming back to his place at least after 8 years and I want to say I forgot how good it was and still is. The fact that they stood the hurricane of pandemic, it speaks a lot about how this place treats its customers and musicians. Loved every bit of my time and made new friends.
JOAN LAWS: A special kind of little neighborhood spot with amazing music, friendly clientele and staff. Just makes you smile.
Dan M: Such a great dive bar with live music every night! I’m sad I don’t live close anymore. It can get crowded and loud so be advised.
Gibran M. Garcia: Chill bar, good music
oby100: Rude waitstaff
David Ruuska: Great music, great drinks
Justin C: Live music. Cold beer. Good crowd
Ross Cobo-Lewis: they dis t have everything that I wanted, but the kive music was good
Jake Bush: The best live music in town, and never a cover. Great food, great staff, great crowds.
dale nilsen: Killer Band
Premnath Ananthan: Good bar food and trivia nights! But today is the last day for the bar :( they are closing
Amelie Kharey: Coziest spot in Porter. It is smol like a toad and old people hang out here. They have no cover and live music and reasonably priced beer. If you need a place to just retreat into a little toad hole, this is your bar.
Kristen Metcalfe: Small place with big atmosphere. There's a small selection of food available but that's not why you should go. I definitely recommend going to see some live music.
Ludmyla Almeida: It was closed but it shows on Google they are open. They need to update their hours
Derrick Coleman: Place is great.. Must stop on wed
Bonita Byman: Best chicken pot pie anywhere!
Greg Byman: The chicken pot pie was the best I've ever eaten, besides homemade.

David Sierra: Tasty food and a cozy atmosphere.
Ananda Mishra: Great atmosphere with good food. Good selection of drinks menu.
Gavin Kleespies: They did a great job renovating the inside, still feels the same but better made. The outside is still the bomb. They have a fully functional/heated bathroom that is only for the outdoor seating! Best outdoor seating in Greater Boston!
Donal Waide: The gem of a back garden is an oasis in the city.
Roberto GM: Excellent cheese board, variety of Bourbons and service.
Joe Boxell: Went there to see Dwight and Nicole live and was amazing.. great staff ..beer was reasonable and had a very peaceful atmosphere. Definitely will be back !

What whatter: A lot of people come here who think they are cool but they are just boring like everybody else. That’s the scene. It can be ok but feels kind of dark and cramped. Maybe they are communists? I don’t know.
Chiara Masnovo: Lovely spot for a cheapish beer and decent food!

Tim Armstrong: Good place to get a drinkService: 4/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Richard Cheng: Hamburger is as basic as you can get in bar food. It is so easy to make it right by using high heat. Yet Plough & Star can make theirs so blah by using low heat. Not many bar food can match that.
Tunc Oz: Great vibes
Christine Del Vecchio: Live music 🎶
J: Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5More
Vanessa: Perhaps the cutest dive bar in the area (however they do have food so it may not be a true dive). Great service and atmosphere. Also love that they have weekly live music! It can get crowded as it is a small space
Steve Kitay: Small, old-fashioned Cambridge bar that serves a lot of Guinness. Great fun if you like generally superb music and if don't mind close quarters.Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Marco Castillo: Food: 3/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 4/5More
Bailey Waldorf: This spot is only a five minute walk from my residence which makes it an easy choice if my partner and I don't feel like taking a hike to find a hot meal. The food has always been good, but not always great. However, if you've read any of my other reviews you'll know that an excellent eggs benedict goes a long way with me and says a lot about the kitchen it came from. Namely because hollandaise sauce is no easy thing to make.I have had there traditional Benny before and was a little disappointed in the hollandaise sauce from this particular visit. It was beginning to separate when it reached our table. But for this past Sunday my partner and I wanted a quick brunch fix and I am happy to report the hollandaise was on point this time.Instead of the traditional eggs benny I went for their poached eggs. This dish was absolutely delicious! Hopefully my photo of this incredible dish will do it justice because it's certainly worth a try.The poached eggs are served with a toasted English muffin over a bed of pork confit. The pork confit reminded me of pork chow mein and it went so well with the perfectly poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. As I understand it this place has some history. The Plough and Stars is one of the older bars in Cambridge. Modern and bright are NOT words I'd use to describe this atmosphere. With it's low warm lighting and decades of serving the community it's earned a worn in, homey feel to it, but keep in mind it's no dive bar either. It's always clean and inviting. A good spot for old friends to come together and catch up over a pint The staff do a great job of making you and your party feel right at home here.#eggsbenedict #poachedeggs #hollandaise #cambridgecusine
JeffLovesJets: This was just the spot we were looking for to have a good beer and food while visiting the city. Very cozy! And the gentleman behind the bar took good care of us. The linguini was delicious.
Kevin M. Doyle: Generally full of hipster Harvard students, but a few salty regulars are often found at the bar. Good, sometimes quirky musical acts play on weekends. Decently stocked bar and not a bad selection of draft beers on tap.Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More

The Cantab Lounge: what do users think?
Jaye Aster Broder: The positive parts of Cantab include that it’s typically less crowded than 730 Tavern, is near Central Square metro stop, available tap water, modest size, and live music. The negative parts are the entry cover even on an early weeknight, sticky floors, overly loud music, and adults who ask for tips for their dancing. The cover is not even in whole dollars; it’s $10.50.
Seamus Glynn: Same as it ever was. I have memories of it from 50 years ago. It deserves attention from a historian or a sociologist. It's a window into Central Square's continuity over decades of change.
S D: Smells a bit and if you're up to it maybe worth it for the live music
What whatter: Pipe leaked on my head probably sewer?
Iñigo Rengifo: If you want to be treated very poorly by the staff, this is the place to go.If you want somewhere nicer, go to the places nearby.
Sheika Babin: The Cantab Lounge was awesome. It's been a few years since I last patron the lounge but still offers a good experience. My preference is upstairs with the live band. Downstairs is good with the DJ but a younger crowd. Cantab offers something for everyone and a good atmosphere. The mixed drinks are excellent!
Andrew Zoller: Poetry slam Wednesdays are kickass! Super fun vibe and good show/talented people!!
deez nutz: Black leather Mondays here are awesome
Valentine: Sympa mais il n’y avait malheureusement pas de musique le moment où nous sommes venus
Robbie Ashton: Great underground spot for standup comedy, open mic nights and more. Cover for comedy is $15, but you get your money's worth and cards are accepted for it
Adrian Byng-Clarke: I was skeptical about the new management and renovation for such a landmark…. But it remains a special place
James Brooks: Great bar!
Caasi: Had a blast tonight. Loved the lower basement edm/techno
Gus Olownia: Drinks are fine, music is fine. The amount of creeps there though grabbing people without there consent is absolutely disgusting. Glad to say I'll never be back there again. I was willing to make an exception because customers are external factors but when I heard those creeps were regulars and even the bouncer knew them? HELL NO
Keiichi Hashimoto: My Go for jam session since 1990 !Old friends,... New Friends and more.Sundays and Wednesdays9pm house band starts10pm Jam startsAlways Great Time !see you guys around !
Michael Powers: The bar has been remodeled. Looks much better
Kristopher Kuss: Totally average place to get a drink or see a show.
Brian James: Classic old time Mass Ave. Cambridge lounge to hear some music and get cold beer or cocktail.
Hanna Krueger: Best bar in Boston area, hands down.
Faith Festa: Very nice Good music evening
Inviting Interior Style Jennifer Collins: Always a great time to see a great band

New Republik: what do users think?
Zoi Huntzinger: Emile was so sweet and personable, I would return just for him!
Emily Cunningham: Will is the greatest bartender I’ve ever had, please give him a raise immediatelyReady to Go by Republica
Seth Thompson: Bartender was rude and condescending to my friend, can’t wait till this place closes
Josh Dion: Food was surprisingly good for pub fare. Prices were.... Well it's Boston you can't really complain about prices.
Caleb Senn-Cadotte: Great spot for some beers and darts.
Riff Zifnab: Good food and good drinks. Order at the bar. Has a dart board and plenty of TVs to watch whatever. My preferred bar in Inman.
Ashley Allen: Great aesthetic. A little on the smaller side. Great for talking, and there's a dartboard in the back.
Dominick Pecora: Love the vibe of this bar, had a great time playing darts and met some really cool new people! Love the selection of beers, and the food was much better than I expected
Beth Redmond Walsh: Great sirloin tips, and mashed potatoes. Very juicy and perfectly cooked medium rare. The atmosphere leans towards sports of course, soccer mainly. It was quiet being a Monday night so we had the place to ourselves pretty much. The price including drinks and tip was under $100. And the service was very good.
Jack Kelley: Great for darts, cool people, awesome drinks and buff chic nachos
Thomas J Fuccello: Great vibes here with 2 dart boards. Friendly bar staff, bunch of craft beers on draft. Also, the bartenders will, James, and Sean are the absolute best bartenders I've ever met. Friendly, professional, and downright a joy to be around. This bar would not be the same without them.
Jonah Jenkins: Great beer selection, great service, great music. Neighborhood staple.
Jorge Díaz: I love this place. The food, the drinks, the layout of the bar. Highly recommended if you’re in the area.
Noah Hilbert: Very cool bar! Taste of the people's republic redone in a great way.
Juliana Castro Varon: We went to watch a game. Fun vibe, good bartenders!
Ian Brown: First time here after the original people’s republik closed. Quick service and they had a broad draft list. Got a Bissel brothers beer, first time I enjoyed this on tap outside Maine. It’s a welcome return of a Cambridge institution!
Annette Patterson: Great neighborhood bar great service
Srinivasan Venkatachalan: Ok beer, limited choices but good food, good portions and good bar tender.
Mark Diethelm: I'm glad the old People's Republik could be revived. The vibe isn't the same as it used to be, you can't really re-create the old divey aesthetic. The new Republik is a bit more polished.
Aaron David Baker: The steak tips are life changing
Matt Dursin: Excellent beer options. Service was also top notch. Looking forward to going back.

Shay's Pub & Wine Bar: what do users think?
Markus Jansen: Nice place
What whatter: It is what it is. Another pricey pub. It’s the people that make the scene.
Harry Bullivant: Amazing! Basically an actual pub.
Christos Karantais: Nice place which has a good vibe, a character and an attitude as well! Definitely going back
Aditya Sarkar: (relatively) cheap and cheerful Harvard square staple wine bar.
Tamika Law: This was my first time visiting this spot. I was thoroughly impressed by the friendliness of the staff. The bar owner Shawn was so cool. He gave everyone in the bar a free holiday shot of their preference. I opted out of the shot and asked for a sweet drink the bartender suggested a lemon drop... it was pretty good more tart than sweet. I couldn't leave without sampling the menu. Everyone looked as if they were enjoying their selections so I wasn't surprised when my food was presented to me that it looked like it was made in a hi end restaurant. It was quite flavorful as well. The place is very small but very welcoming. If you want to go to a low key spot for a quiet date night this is a very good spot to try out. It's located in Cambridge near Harvard Square.
ricky church: cozy brick warm bevvies not too sure about the crowd. delightful staff
Rich Lane: Legendary Cambridge hangout.
Will Rhodes: Amazing experience, loved the dry humor server that everyone complains about. She was not only hysterical but a perfect server. Also the food here ROCKED. The wings were actually grilled and tossed. Best black bean burger we've ever had - seriously #1. Reg burgers amazing. Some kind of feta and veggie dip, also amazing. This place was a total surprise with quality and experience. 5/5
Hannah: What a gem! The food was amazing and fresh and the beer crisp and cold — they clearly take time to clean their lines. Service didn’t miss a beat. One of the highlights on our recent trip to Boston.
Anastasiya Bulatova: The food was perfect and beer was fresh. What more you can wish ❤️
Michelle Larter: Sean was a great waiter. It was super busy and he was still very attentive. Black bean burger was good. Having several vegan options was a bonus.
Doviana Sabatino: Shay’s was the cute little hole in the wall place I was looking for to have a drink. The prices were fair and the staff was great!
Kristopher Kuss: Easy, comfortable atmosphere. Good service. The kitchen closed on the early side. I wasn't able to try any food. Easy sort of neighborhood dive. I will be back if I'm in the area.
Bama Boy: Took over 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged me at the bar. Ordered a long island ice tea and they tried but failed on making it. Ordered a screwdriver and to my surprise it was off to. Sorry , I dont like to leave these types of reviews but I have to be honest. Hope this helps someone make a decision.
Victoria: Cute little pub and it seemed to be popping on a Tuesday night for dinner! I felt bad for the waiter as he was juggling at least 15 tables both inside and outside by himself. Food was decent and the overall bill for 2 people (with drinks and apps and entrees) was $50!
Victoria Cassierra Plummer-Bastien: Matt specifically was willing to fistfight a yellow jacket that was flying around me and my food despite being allergic to them, was super personable and then rode off on a motorcycle into the sunset after his shift ended100/10Also the food was great
Aimee Concannon: Owner was really unfriendly and borderline hostile. When I asked where the bathrooms were he walked straight past me and pointed over his back. He then followed me to the womens bathroom and began rapping on the door as if I was taking too long, yet I had barely been in there and when I came out there were no other women waiting. I then went back to were we were watching the match, and in my absence he had removed my chair. Extremely weird and hostile, stay away; especially if female.
Samantha Scimmi-Rompf: A great spot for a night with friends. The service was fabulous.
Mark Heward: Great little bar close to the Harvard campus. Lots of atmosphere.
Julia Moreland: Shay’s is my go-to hidden gem for while I’m waiting for a reservation at another place or need a nightcap to end the night. Super chill vibes, almost always seating available, good prices, kind people.
