Zhenhua Zhang: I used this location twice for oil changes. The first time I took my husband's CRV which was only a few years old at the time and they told me the brakes were failing and I had to get them changed out because it was a safety concern. I went ahead and had them do the work. I went back a few weeks later in my car for an oil change (I drive by this location every day so it was convenient) and I got the exact same message. My rear brakes were failing and were a safety hazard. I better get them replaced or I was going to get into an accident. So given I had heard the exact same thing now twice for two vehicles that I had just come in for routine oil change I declined to do the work. My car has been absolutely fine and passed inspection 3 years each time since I was told my brakes would fail imminently. My husband's crv brakes on the other hand that I spent much money on to fix at this shop have utterly failed in just a few years. The terrible scraping noises it made did not give us confidence they worked nor that the car will pass inspection that is due. We just had them switched out at another shop. Despite driving by this store almost daily I will never be using their services for anything again. I have seen other posts now warning about the brakes here. Pete Shinn: TLDR: Never, ever use this business. They apparently enjoy preying on young women there.The details: I encouraged my niece to use this business because of its positive Google reviews. What a mistake. She went for a vehicle inspection and was told by Dennis Cassidy she couldn’t legally drive the car without getting a front break job, complete with new rotors and calipers— calipers which are available at any auto parts store for $75 or less, and for which she was charged nearly $500 each, before labor! That might be OK, except when she left after paying a grossly inflated price for the coerced break job, Dennis warned her to bring it right back if the vehicle made any funny noises. When it predictably did start making grinding and screeching noises every time she touched the brakes within hours after paying and leaving, my niece, as instructed, brought it back right away. Although Dennis had the car for two full days after my niece returned it, they never looked at it, and eventually my niece had to go demand her vehicle back from them, unrepaired. This is a business that preys on the unwary. They will definitely up charge you well beyond what’s reasonable, and you may or may not get your car fixed in the end, even after paying an inflated price.Service:Vehicle safety inspection

Anna Krohn: I needed to have my car towed due to the front break calipers seizing up while driving on a Sunday evening. I chose Abe's from the list of AAA shops and I'm satisfied with my choice. I heard back from Naeem first thing on Monday morning, they already had my car up on the lift and confirmed for me it was indeed the calipers on the front that were the issue. There were other things that they spotted and recommended taking care of. Naeem explained everything, sent me photos of what he was seeing and was very communicative all day as the repairs were happening. I could have picked the car up the same day, but had to wait until Tuesday. Everyone I met in the shop when picking up was super friendly to top off the experience.The car felt good driving home so I'm happy. Two of the items on the inspection list were not providing adequate data, and whereas others might have taken the opportunity to charge me more, Nate correctly diagnosed that I had just had work done on the car and so needed to drive it for 50-75 more miles and return for a (free) re-inspection, which I did and it worked. I then used Nate to put on our winter tires. Douglas Beach: We went to GNG in Cambridge with our 2011 Mini Cooper Countryman because we are in the neighbourhood, the local Mini dealer nearby sucks in my opinion, and I had a warm recall of "Car Talk". One of the founders met us and got us organized with Casey. Since that time they've done a few repairs and are always diligent, efficient, affordable, honest about issues and time, etc. I go in and say, "here's what's going on, when do you think, here are the keys, see you." They give the appropriate responses, and I'm on my way. On the other hand, I've seen interactions where the car-owner wanted to talk more about "everything". They listen and sort all of that out, too. They are always busy as far as I've seen, they've a staff of family people, and the seem to really care about what they do. Ken Ho: I've taken several of my cars here over a decade or two. They have always been fabulous, never suggesting/pushing unnecessary fixes. I had a bad odor coming out of the air conditioning system that the dealership could not adequately diagnose, I was concerned that I would have to get rid of the car (an older car which I love). Ryan and the team found that I had some sort of refrigerant(?) that was the source of the odor, fixed it, and I was able to keep the car, which I am still happily driving.More recently, Casey evaluated my exhaust system which the same dealership made sound like it as about to explode (or that it might do so at state inspection testing time). Casey said it's actually a small leak, and suggested that it's probably not worth fixing until absolutely necessary given the normal deterioration of such systems in this New England environment. They hold my hand through each step as I have not owned a car in decades! They strive for the highest quality and err on the side of conservative so you don't blow out your budget. I had an emergency a few weeks before my scheduled maintenance and had to have a gas station garage do some work and I called Casey panicked.He explained why it waa imperative to take care of the issue immediately and even spoke with the mechanic doing the work. I didn't know one was still in okay shape. And that's what Casey told me and that he didn't see a need to replace it ( I know many other garages that would take advantage of the situation and sell me a tire I didn't really need.) I took my vehicle in for a strange noise coming from the wheels, which they found the cause of but when I picked it up I discovered that it was still coming from a few of the wheels. They took the car back in to resolve the rest of the issue and had it fixed by the end of the day. The part that really won me over is that they didn't charge me for any of the extra labor which I feel pretty confident in assuming that any other garage would have.
