Spartan Instruments: what do users think?
Chris: I was having some fret buzz on my fender telecaster and brought it into Chris. He helped me get most of the buzz out and actually showed me the way to fix it if there was a problem in the future. Down to writing down the correct hex wrench sizes for me. Really appreciate the help and will be back in the future
Abigail King: I was very satisfied with my experience at Spartan Instruments! Chris is very personable and did a fantastic job fixing my violin. He changed the strings, fixed the shape of the bridge, refitted the pegs, and taught me how to perform routine maintenance. The price was very reasonable. I highly recommend going to Spartan Instruments for repairs and maintenance!
Thiago Silva: Chris is just the best ever!!! my electric guitar had a paint damage at corner of the body,Chris did a amazing job that make it disappear and look like new!!!
Zachary Blake: I was looking to setup for my Acoustic guitar and found Spartan Instruments. Along with a great conversation, Chris worked on my guitar and pointed out issues with it. While working on it, he taught me a lot of things to look out for. I had a fantastic experience and would rate more than 5 stars if possible. :)
Maria K: Chris is the absolute nicest human. He skillfully changed strings on my daughter's violin while showing her how to do it. Then, he very patiently coached her through changing the last string on her own. We are lucky to have him in this area, and we are so glad to have found his shop! Thank you ever so much!
Edmund mallett: Chris is without a doubt the best luthier in the Business! After taking my Takamine and Fender acoustics in for intricate intonation and action adjustments, we became fast friends as if we knew each other for several years. DO NOT GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!
andy touvannas: Chris did a magnificent job restoring my Bouzouki. He is very professional, knowledgeable and transparent about what work he is performing.
Erkan Altan: My Godin MultiOud had a cracked bridge and I took it to master Chris for repair. Oh boy, he created a brand new bridge from scratch that is much better than the original. His pricing was super and I am very happy with the result. Thank you, master !
Chip Gregory: My Taylor GS5 had cracks in the cedar top and worn out frets. Chris leveled the frets and stabilized the cracks. Totally professional and very reasonable. He did the work in a week as well. Couldn't be happier. Take your guitars to him.
seyhmus yuksekkaya: I went for string change, this guy tore apart my Saz and made it worse😀I asked him how many Saz he built, he said none. I left with my Saz and never went there again.
Ramsey Khudairi: Incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and a real master of his craft. Looking forward to continuing to work with Christopher for all my instrumental needs
A Kasp: I've visited Chris many times having had the opportunity to watch him work. He has repaired 3 ouds for me. Now waiting for my 4th to be finished. The second one was in very bad condition, multi cracked sound board and broken ribs. Chris did his work repairing and replacing. I was very happy with the outcome. Right now Chris has 2 more my old ouds made by well known makers, one in very bad condition. I wouldn't trust anyone else but Chris to repair these, to bring them back to life. THANK YOU CHRIS
Kids R Fun: I found myself in the unfortunate position of having to pick up an old masterpiece Bouzouki off the floor - cracks in sound board, bent tailpiece. It also had a layer, or layers of some orange lacquer that Chris felt had distorted the instrument from its original look. Chris’s restoration is nothing short of miraculous - a meticulous craftsmen, trust him to handle your stringed instruments with expert care and true love of his craft. Before and after pics below
Soren Dubon: A wonderful experience. Chris fixed my guitar and gave me some advice on how to tune and maintain it. Also a beautiful shop/
Matt Makuc: I had my old stratocaster modified to have some microtonal frets added to it. Chris was very friendly and excited to work on it! Project was completed in a timely manner at excellent quality, for a good price! Definitely will be coming back in the future.
Stavros Aganis: Chris is professional, knowledgeable, kind, and has a great personality. His work is top notch, and he does it with absolute ease. Chris is a true master/mad scientist of his craft, and I genuinely don't see myself going to any other luthier. My experience was overwhelmingly positive, and I cannot recommend Chris and Spartan Instruments enough!
Mac Ritchey: I have worked with Chris for many years and he is a total professional with deep attention to detail. He always goes the extra distance to the job right. I won't trust anyone else with my ouds.
Cdot Lab: Outstanding results and impeccable service!! A passionate craft that is absolutely essential for musicians and music lovers of all ages. I definitely recommend Spartan Instruments for any instrumental services or repairs needed!
Ben McClure: Chris is someone who genuinely cares about the instruments you bring to him. He was very fast and gave me great advice as well. I definitely recommend you bring your instruments to him, I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my guitar now.
A R: Nice place and great job and very nice Chris!! Thank you so much
Cheyenne Capri: Very careful with instruments. Knows what he’s doing. Also, explains what he’s doing while he’s doing it, which was super helpful since I was curious. I recommend! Thank you, Chris.

Tq'λtsenoe Tchosenone: Great Place with friendly staff who definitely know what they are selling. A great help to the community, and definitely one of the most Iconic Stores in Lowell. Excellent Prices and range of accessories as well as instruments too! The staff is very down to earth and friendly,Marlene has a great memory for anything, anything, whether it is musical gadgets, gimmicks, or students she's taught (like my 20 year older than me cousin who she still remembers! Wow!)Eric is more than a whole unit of Inspiration from many Students across the Middle Schools, (where the band program and a generation of musicians begins), and is also very amicable,And I'm sure Buck is great. They also serve free cake on special dates!
Manu Hegde: Staff is very friendly and helpful. I have bought my alto sax, reeds, and tons of music from this place. My questions have always been answered quickly and easily. This place has lessons as well which I find very helpful. Overall, an excellent place for any instrumental or musical needs.
D Nel: I strongly recommend this place! They sell various instruments and it's the perfect place for band students. They do private lessons, got sheet music, can try the intrument out (as long as you bring your own mouthpiece) and got nice brands that I always use. The owner is very nice and kind. I feel that it is a bit more expensive here (at least saxophone reeds), but considering you'll most likely get what you want here, it's not bad at all. Strongly recommended!

They enjoy every instrument (and they have a LOT to choose from) that's in here, and are glad to help you find the perfect fit for your style and budget. Luthiers are available to fix and adjust almost anything. Music lessons are offered, too. It's a little hidden and tucked away, but the best places are.
Sabrina: Loved them, two nice folx that know their music, got a Yamaha from them for quite a deal, came with everything
