Katherine Shambo: It was a recommended place to go to from Mercy Medical Center where I had just received some counseling and treatment for my breast cancer. I was unaware that we needed to schedule an appointment. We just showed up, but they were so kind and welcoming and fortunately it turned out an individual on hand to let us look at some wigs. She was so lovely and so accommodating and the whole experience for myself my mom and my sister was all we could talk about the whole day. It really was a wonderful welcoming experience and I look forward to going back and taking advantage of some of the other programs that they provide.

Cancer House of Hope: Cancer House of Hope works to enhance the lives of people with cancer and those who care about them by providing emotional, educational, social, and spiritual support. We are here in West Springfield to provide free-of-charge cancer support services and relaxation programs for those who face this devastating disease.We focus on reducing stress and promoting comfort for people with cancer and their families and friends by offering programs and services in a non-institutional and home-like setting. Our volunteers and professionals are familiar with effects of cancer on a personal basis and genuinely offer understanding, encouragement, and hope. We are respectful of each individual’s coping strategies and the decisions he/she makes about treatment of his/her cancer and the use of any services we offer. Trust, integrity and open communication are intrinsic to the job satisfaction of all staff. The Cancer House of Hope is open to members of the cancer community, regardless age, race, creed, sex, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, marital status, and socioeconomic status.It is our vision to be a supportive, caring and hopeful place of healing by cancer survivors, their families and friends, the local business and healthcare community and the community-at-large.All groups are small and specific. Our services are intended to offer community, serenity, and awareness. All facilitators and practitioners are licensed and many are long-term cancer survivors.

Chris Leblanc: Would never recommend this hospice. My mother was on it for about 6 weeks while in Memory Care Assisted Living. Nurse came 2x/week. Good for medicating. Aide in 3x/week for personal care . She was great. Chaplain in a few times. That’s it! Never saw or spoke to a social worker even though I had mentioned possibility of taking mom home., Did notice on Medicare statement that payment included Social worker. Requested volunteers through aide but never had any. Most disturbing was mom died on her birthday and have never received ANY communication from hospice after her death. No grief counseling,etc. Talked about care plan when signing contract. Do not feel they fulfilled their responsibilities.
Gennie Lc: Wouldn't take my father, because they said he was going to live another 6 months - died a week later.About a month after that, called and asked for him (they knew that he'd died! ).Two months after that sent a note to my mom saying that he'd been gone for a year, and they know how difficult that is.I called to ask to be taken off their contact list and they said they could do that - without confirming who i was.

SHE COULDN'T HAVE BEEN BOTHERED TO SENSITIVELY DISCUSS HER CONCERNS , RUDE AND HUFFED AND PUFFED . GREAT WAY TO DEAL WITH A DAUGHTER WHOSE WATCHING HER MOTHER DIE DAILY . ALSO THEY WONT TAKE ANYONE ON THAT BASICALLY CAN STILL OPEN THERE EYES, COMPLETELY USELESS. DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR LOVED ONES.

I’m sorry but in this line of work you must be kind and understanding. They give you their numbers and never answer or return messages left. My case was closed due to them not calling me back with the proper information I needed. Unprofessional.

Everyone from the moment you walk in...including the officers are rude and look bothered to be doing their job. It's really sad that the one place you go to get help it's so cold and uncomfortable to come in. Please advise people on how to be kinder with people who are already struggling enough in life.
