Sarah Dirienzo: Updated review 12/19:Despite my previous reviews I still come to Charley's on account of working nearby. Recently I purchased a gift card online during the black Friday spend 25$ get $5 promo. Today I tried to use my gift card and it didn't work. The cashier said this is a common issue. While sitting in the restaurant trying to contact corporate, she and the assistant manager approached me with a free meal, apologizing for the problem and thanking me for being a regular. While its annoying that they close early (and they seem to close early less often these days), the staff are very nice people and I'm grateful for their remedy for a problem that wasn't even theirs.Updated review 6/28:They consistently close early. If you're gonna close at 9:30, then change your hours. Don't say you close at 10.--Place was dead when I arrived but I was served piping hot food regardless and the cashier brought it over to the table I was waiting at. Made the cheese steak to my specifications (no mayo, pickle, tomato). Was tasty!

Larry E: I had a good overall customer experience at Charlie’s, however, I’m only giving them a three star rating because I think there are things corporate can improve to provide better value for their customers. Below are the changes I think would make this business much better:1. No combinations - there were literally only a handful of combinations, unlike most fast food restaurants. No upsells. Most of everything must be ordered separately a la cart. That can add up very quickly in terms of price. For instance, my meal, a regular sized French fry with a “regular” cheesesteak sandwich set me back nearly $14 dollars with tax. As illustrated in my pictures appended to review, that is hardly any food for the price. Having a menu combination where these items can be purchased together at a markably affordable price would create a lot of value for customers.2. Cheesesteak authenticity - I’ve had authentic cheesesteak and this just doesn’t pass the authenticity muster. My sandwich had pickles, tomatoes, and lettuce which made it taste more like a steak grinder, than a Philly Cheesesteak.3. Decorum- I really love the post industrial, modern interior design they have going on inside the restaurant. It gives it an expensive, yet very casual inviting place to eat; however, that’s where the compliments end. The chairs are very cheap and made of some sort of plastic, metal material that isn’t durable. If you’re a heavy person, be careful sitting on one of those chairs. It could break.In all, Charlie’s was an average fast casual dining experience that was a mostly good experience. I will visit again for certain, but won’t be making any special trips if you know what I mean.

I just got of work and I am trying to place an order at 12:27pm and I am getting an error with my online order and when I call I get no reply. I have to put it in the oven to finish cooking. I will not be going there anymore especially on the weekends.They used to be very good. I ran around checking for places that had cash back- and one of those places was Parrot Pizza. They didn’t do cash back, but the man behind the register, who said he was Ralph, loaned me the full amount without any questions asked. I’m incredibly grateful to him and I wish there were more people like that in the world.

Unfortunately I can't say the same for the service.The last time we ordered, it took 2 hours for delivery on a Wednesday night for one pizza and some garlic knots. After about an hour and a half, we called to see what was going on. The person on the phone was incredibly rude and asked why we hadn't called sooner "if it was a problem," told us they're "known for" taking a long time with orders, and that it didn't matter because the delivery driver had just left. We asked to speak to the manager, were told that the manager/owner wasn't working that night, and when we asked which night the owner was working they hung up on us.Delivery was through a third party, and when our pizza finally showed up we asked the driver what happened. He said he'd been waiting in the store for at least a half hour, and that this is not an uncommon issue at this place.

Jack Oatis (Jax): I live about a mile away and have driven by this hidden gem on my way to work for 2 years. So many missed opportunities, but I digress. I have lived in Worcester for 5 years but grew up in Brooklyn and Queens, NY so pizza is basically a food group. I have tried nearly everything within 5 miles and have been disappointed. This is a slice of NYC in the middle of MA. Crust thickness is perfect, sauce is savory, cheese and generously spread and they make a proper large (24'). I have to fold my slice to start eating it!!! Street parking, no room to dine in and 90% of the space is the kitchen and prep areas. It's perfect, period.
