Donna Johnson: I have used this bank for over 30 years. My parents used it, my siblings use it, and many friends use it. I have always been treated with courtesy. I love the on line banking (just wish I could transfer from my passbook savings to my checking), and on the rare occasions that I have had to contact the call center, they've always been very helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend ECSB.

D Penn: Let me first start by saying, this is only the second Google review ever written by me but I really wanted to add my two cents here. I opened an account with ECSB recently only because the business for which I was working used them & thought it would be easier to set up direct deposit. The woman with whom I dealt in the Medford branch(I'm embarrassed to say I don't remember her name)was awesome & treated me as though I was depositing six figures, which unfortunately wasn't the case. To be honest, I'm probably a customer that cost them money to have but you definitely wouldn't think it whenever I go in there(I use the Woburn branch now). I'm sure the "unflattering" Google reviews on here aren't fabricated but they definitely don't warrant one from me.

They are always polite they are always professional anytime I’ve had a problem, and the problems have always been just a misunderstanding by them sometimes or by me usually.I know it’s easy to hate Banks, There are quite a few I don’t like but If your looking for a professional bank you should check this one out
Matthew Christensen: I'm not sure why there are low reviews. I got great help from both the Online Supervisor Jeffery Shapiro and from the Main in branch associate Shannon. I had a great experience opening up the CD, and was told of more products that we will consider for the future. They were respectful and professional. Maybe there has been a change at ECSB and you should try for yourself like I did.

Jeremy Coffey: ECSB has been the banker for our small business since 2015. They took a chance on us when bigger banks turned up their noses, and have stuck with us through the Covid-19 pandemic (which has crushed so many small businesses). Their staff is professional, courteous and respectful of the real-world needs of small businesses. If you own a business, and are looking for a partner vs. a big institution who is more intent on collecting fees vs. helping their customers, give ECSB a look. Our primary banker has been Deborah Dobbins. Can't say enough about her and her team. Feel free to contact me for more information and candid feedback.
Kevin OMalley: Have worked with Tim Tuttle in the Belmont branch and he's a pros pro. Extremely responsive, Rarely a half hour goes by if I have a question via e mail that he fails to respond in a timely fashion. Always responds to phone calls promptly. Linda the branch manager is superb and I urge anyone looking for banking services to walk in there and you'll be pleased. Rates are very competitive on mortgages. Couldn't be happier.

Our criteria is simple:Do they offer online banking: yesDo they offer billpay for things like national grid: yesCan we tranfer money between accounts: yesAre they close by: yesLastly where are the ATMs: I can walk to the nearest one!As for customer service, I generally don't expect much given the service we've endured with our last bank and quite frankly banks in general. That is not the case for our Medford branch. Osvaldo was the man who helped set us up. He's extremely patient, he made sure we understood the accounts we opened up. Even went above and beyond to make my wife feel comfortable through the the process. Not to mention a Pats fan so even more points there! They really couldn't have a better representative than Osvaldo! A couple of days later we needed a Notary for our paperwork and that brought us back to our branch. I did not realize it was the branches vp Kathyann who helped us out. She took us in immediately and even assisted with our witness on the paperwork! Thanks to Luis for the assist! This experience only confirmed that we chose the right bank. Even better still, three days later we got a follow up call from Jennifer to ask if we were satisfied with our new accounts and if there was anything she could help with. This is textbook customer service. I know because this is what I do in my job. While some folks may have had other experiences, it couldn't have been with the Medford branch. These folks were by far the best in banking I have ever experienced. I look forward to a long run with East Cambridge Savings Bank!

David Murphy: This has to be the worst bank I have ever had the displeasure of trying to deal with. Tried to open a savings account with them and jumped trough all their hurdles of sending proof of identity and address. Had an email confirming they'd received it and they'd be in touch to open my account...then never heard another word from them! Emails went ignored, phoned their customer service team, went through verification of who I was then cut off. Such a terrible service!

Pj Westin: I've never had anything but a positive experience with ECSB. My wife and I shopped around for a while when deciding where to open a joint account, they offered the most competitive interest rate and perks (ATM fee reimbursement, etc.), and we've never regretted the decision. The customer service is always excellent in every branch, and they even have a really good banking app (which I was surprised by, since they're such a small bank). Really glad we went with them.

Opened my account online but will need to go in person to close it. Incompetent customer service reps. Don't make the mistake of banking with this institution.

But none of them would even come to the door to direct me. So they posted instructions to call first to make an appointment. But was it so hard to talk to your customers?? There were several posted instructions on the door and I did not see the particular one at first. So I did call but when I finally got to talk to someone inside they hung up on me. Never had a worse experience with a bank than this one!
Barbara Fernandez: I have not been able to transfer money from my savings to my checking for two weeks! The branch ar Stop And Shop in Tarrytown didnot open for two weeks but did not advise anyone. I made an appt with 14 Mamaroneck Ave at 11:00 a m on Saturday White Plains, NY bank. On Sat. A m Apr I 11. They walked out and locked the bank while I was standing there at 10:40. I held on for over 2 hours with your call center this afternoon. No one ever picked her up. She sent E mails to 2 White Plains branches and one Scarsdale, NY branch. I will find who to report this to. April 17. 2020.

Reid Savage: Have had an account here for... hmm, probably (including joint accounts with my parents) my entire life? 30 or so years? I felt pretty whatever about them for a while, but there were 2 reasons for this rating:1. At one point they re-ordered transactions in my account in order to incur the maximum overdraft. I had one large transaction and many small transactions that happened from the same merchant, but were days apart - and contrary to the order in which they came in/were processed, they made it so that the largest transaction hit first, putting me $10 in the negative, then the 6 smaller transactions (all $5-10) after, so I incurred $35 * 6 overdraft fees. Known as "debit resequencing".2. After that incident, I pared down my usage of this bank, but still used it for convenience. Recently, I had the account negative by exactly $1.69. Before being able to ACH that amount to get it to 0 and call them to close it, they closed it with no notification, and I just found myself locked out of my account, probably deleted. Cool!Don't ever bank here. Horrible rates on every product, horrible management.

Dan Paikowsky: I had a relationship with Cambridge Savings Bank for the past 10 years or so. Before I started moving my money away I had over $500k in deposits across my accounts. For basic checking and savings activities they are okay, but otherwise bureaucratic, inefficient, outdated, and incompetent.I had to switch all of my business banking to different banks that offered modern and reasonable service because I couldn't operate them in a normal manner with what CSB was giving me. I largely moved my personal banking away after an unpleasant experience with the local branch manager. The final straw on my personal accounts was a decision that they wouldn't complete a wire transfer to a "digital currencies" business. Should change the name to soviet russia savings bank, because it more accurately describes the level of ineptitude and meddling.
M D: We have conducted a study to see how the bank tellers are treating the minorities. This bank was one of the worst in the city. They have interrogated and discriminated the international students. Especially Ethan is the worst bank teller has been ever seen in this perspective. BE AWARE. Do NOT OPEN AN ACCOUNT in this hostile bank. If you have an account, close it as soon as possible.

Gabriel Flynn: I went straight to CSB when I arrived in Cambridge from the UK to set up a student account. I was going to go to Bank of America but I checked out CSB first because of the good reviews and I'm so glad I did. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They even made me a coffee while we set up the account. I left with an account open, a working debit card, and online banking ready to use. The nicest experience I've ever had in a bank!

I believe she wasn't in the office when I had the experience below.PREVIOUS POST:Worst bank experience I had w/ incompetent employees (eg. wrong email address in business card).Be careful, go to other branch, or better off if you move your business somewhere else.In short, took 2 hrs to partially added me to our HOA account (unable to help me w online banking), made me sent sensitive documentation to a wrong email address (the rep. just realized her email in his business card was incorrect!!), and sensed a defensive/stereotypical tone throughout the entire experience. They were in disbeleif w/ my deed even though wording was exactly the same as co-owner and docs. were recorded in public records.For a neighbourhood w/ highly educated people, I was expecting a little more competency or rational thinking. I highly suggest other branch or better off, move your business to another bank.After 1mo. I still cannot access the system online which frustrates me and other co-owners to manage and report our expenses.

I also appreciate their speed and knowledge or at least know who to ask opposed to sending u on a wild goose chase like the larger banks do where u r just a number not a face. They try their best to accommodate ur needs and explain why with genuine concern why they can't do something or a specific thing isnt offered. Behind the scenes ..Linda and Debbie are very on top of who is who and what is what and no matter which teller I go to I'm not disappointed

She was okay with the withdrawal until I asked for quarters to be part of it, being quick to bark at me that they haven’t got quarters in three weeks. Somebody needs to tell the Asian girl working to chill, all she had to say was she didn’t have any because of a nation wide shortage or something pc of that nature but she was outright aggressive about it. I left without making my withdrawal and went to another boa location ten min away where they helped me without any issue and what do you know .... they had quarters 😂😂😂

Brad: What a horrible bank, i came in because after 15 years and a currently approved mortgage, I started getting fees to my bank account. They said the types of accounts had changed and I needed to be moved to a non interest account to avoid fees. I said if you're only going to reverse the fees you charged me that's not really making it up to me what are you going to do for that the answer was nothing so I decided to close my account and even that came with a $15 fee. Just avoid this bank.

If I’m dealing with one teller there should be no reason to automatically ask the next worker a question if I haven’t even asked one. Not once did she speak to me and at this BOA I will never return. They need to work on their services!!!!
