Dance Complex: what do users think?
Kyle Johnson: Not so hidden gem
Duckenson Castel: So much have changed here. Recently started taking classes and I love it. Bathroom are kept clean, it's super easy to take classes here. You do have to sign in with the instructors online or walk-in and pay in person. Would absolutely recommend you create an account on mind and body, follow the in-person schedule and go from there. Majority of the studios are very spacious as well. The staff is super awesome and amicable, which makes you want to keep coming back. And I love how they started incorporating mindfulness practices before/during majority of the classes. And a wide variety of dance genres and cultures.Overall great experience, love this place.
Phil Cohen: Dance Complex is awesome. Try capoeira
Kirsten Williams: Positive:Professionalism,Quality
Sarah B - she her: Positive:Communication,QualityWelcoming, inclusive dance studio in the heart of Cambridge. Instructors are qualified, skillful dancers and encouraging teachers. I always feel safe to push past my comfort zone here.
Gustave Laflare: Critical:ProfessionalismThis place is stealing people’s money and refuse to refund your money. AVOID GOING THERE!
Lisa Fusaro: Amazing so much fun. Natalie was awesome. Thank you so much
Londyn Korol: Reminds one of stereotypical, old fashioned dance studios with winding wooden stairs and exposed brick. Lovely building. A couple weird spots in the Studio 3 floor but nothing crazy. Easy to find, bike rack out front, lots of street parking.
brian cooper: Positive:Communication,Professionalism
Shanelle S: Three-floored community with a variety of dance classes. Came here on a Saturday for an impromptu Samba dance class at 1:30pm. It’s just one stop away on the red line from Harvard, so it’s a convenient option for students. It’s $15 for the samba class, but they’ll take cash and credit card. There’s a Santander right across the street if you need an ATM, since some of the classes are cash only. Note for Bank of America cardholders, there is a $3 ATM fee. There is a gender neutral bathroom availableThe 1:30-3pm Samba class was super fun. It was my first time doing Samba, but the teacher was super energetic and there are plenty of other beginners so you don’t have to feel awkward. You can put your stuff on the right hand side along the wall, and there’s plenty of mirror space so you can watch yourself shake it. There were people of all ages and it was good vibes all around. It started with a warm up and then payment, and then the actual Samba class. There was even a live band that played while we danced. At the end, there was a dance circle and everyone left sweaty but happy. The dance center overall is a cool spot and you can try out a number of different dance styles and classes no matter what age you are. I noticed on the bulletin board they have kid classes as well.
Tonya Lockwood: “ Afro Flow yoga is lit.” Andrew, 11 years old.
Rocephin W: The staff was very friendly.
Rohan Patel: Great location but not really great from inside.Good:1) the location. Right into Central square connecting to bus and train.2) price and classes: thrle salsa class I got deal on Groupon had 50% off and the instructor is super amazing.Bad:1. The entire building is super old. Not enough space for crowd waiting for next class, the bathrooms smells worse than public restrooms. And changing rooms are joined with those smelly toilets.2. Noise: People out from other classes are totally inconsiderate of other classes going and make so much noise that almost impossible to listen to your instructor. Sadly management doesn't care about it3. Building quality: building is not meant for dance classes as the windows shake due to dancea going on a floor above you and the noise of footsteps are completely distracting. Will I consider going for a class next time?Yes. If I get 50% off deal then I will.No. If I am paying good amount of money for the classes.
Mahala Burn: I find that the Dance Complex feels like the local community centers of my childhood- a bit ramshackle, but very functional for its purpose and full of friendly people of all ages, shapes, and backgrounds. It serves in a way an Equinox would never want to. Over the years, I've taken Haitian, West African, Nia, and Modern here and felt I was in a safe and supportive environment to move and express myself. The instructors are widely varied yet consistently skilled and inclusive, and for most classes there is great flexibility for dropping in when you are able given challenging work or personal schedule demands. I would definitely recommend if you feel you are lacking in community and/or need to find a place to move without judgement.
T: Amazing...full of culture good people and fun
Jenna Sunshine: The Dance Complex is great! They're a nonprofit organization that's really into keeping performing arts alive. It's a big place with a great vibe. There's a very comfortable down to earth atmosphere, and although there are advanced dancers there, you can be brand new to dance, and/or be older or heavier and you WON'T feel awkward there. Most of the classes and students are beginner to intermediate. There's a huge variety of classes offered there & you can view the class schedule on their website. Most of the class rooms are rented out by the hour to various instructors or companies, so you'd most likely be paying the instructor or their assistant. I point this out because people frequently ask why they can't sign up online. So the instructor is renting the room, and the students are paying the instructor, NOT the Dance Complex. I suggest you look at their schedule online and if you see a class you're interested in, click through to the description and you'll see how to sign up and whether a class is drop-in or session based. If the class you're interested in is a drop in class, then don't worry about the logistics of signing up & paying in advance, just show up, bring cash with you, and the instructor or their aide will help you & get you all set up. If you have any interest in dance but you're nervous because you have no experience, then THIS is the place to go! If you are new to dance, don't worry, you won't walk into a scary environment with professional dancers everywhere looking at you; instead you'll see many beginners, and people of all different sizes, races, ages and no one there is judgemental. Dance on!
Pasqualino Ferralis: Excellent dance school of various genres, excellent teachers
Stephanie Ruiz: I don't hate it or like it i love it
Yi-Hsin Lin: Great place to learn dance. The atmosphere is very laid back. You just show up and pay the teacher directly. Sometimes the price is a little different than what's stated on the website though.Every teacher has been very friendly and supportive, even if it turns out their class isn't the right style/level for you. Classes seem to have regular crowds attending, so the class does progress over the course of the semester while remaining friendly to drop-ins. Highly recommended!
Peter Galvin: The nexus of dance in Boston/Cambridge. Love the classes and the dance community centered here. It's a gem of life in the city.
Adee C: Idk why someone said that the bathrooms small cuz it doesn't and is actually SUPER neat. Everyone is really nice and supportive. The classes are killers! Totally recommend~👍

Dance in Boston: what do users think?
Norma Heine: Quiero tomar clases de baile para Séniors como ejercicio..
Elektra Alivisatos: We found Michele online to help us prepare for our first dance at our wedding. We had never done any formal dance lessons together but had a vision of what we wanted. Michele did an excellent job choreographing our dance to meet our abilities and preferences, including adjusting the music speed! We looked forward (and miss them!) to our lessons with Michele which were often filled with lots of laughter. Highly recommend working with Michele if you're ready to show off some moves for any occasion!
Melissa Grasso: Michele was literally the best part about planning the wedding. The only thing we wanted was a choreographed dance and she made it happen in 10 weeks (you don't need that much, we just wanted the extra time). She'll take you from zero to whatever level you want to get to. We really looked forward to our lesson every week. It was fun and Michele is hilarious. Couldn't recommend more highly. We're planning to return to take regular lessons for fun.
Jessica Olans: Michele was so much fun! She was patient with me and my husband who have zero coordination or dance past. It was truly a pleasure getting to spend time with Michele at the studio each week leading up to our wedding. We were in need of one more practice and she had us at her home which was above and beyond!! Thank you Michele!
Katie Way: Michele is amazing!! Before meeting Michelle, my now husband and I had no idea even how to box step which was nerve-wracking going into our wedding. But over 6 lessons, she helped ingrain the proper steps and the rhythm (well my husband still struggles with rhythm but thats a different story). Michele was fun to work with, she was very lively and observant. By the time our dance came around we both felt comfortable and ended up having a blast. She even helped us with a few spins/twirls which our guests loved. We highly recommend Michele for anyone looking for dance lessons! Thank you!
Trevor Schwartz: Michele is amazing! She taught my mother and me our mother-son wedding dance twice, 10 years apart (once for the wedding and again for my mom’s 70th). Michele was quick to assess our ability and teach us appropriate moves. We loved her creativity and easy to follow instructions. Highly recommend!
Emily Cannizzaro: We had the best experience working with Michele. My now husband and I were nervous about our first dance. We knew we didn’t want to slow dance back and forth like we were back in middle school. We also knew nothing about dancing and struggled to even do the basic box step when we first started our lessons. We were intimidated and unsure if we could pull off a real choreographed dance. We decided to trust the process and Michele and slowly the lessons became easier and more fun than ever. It was a perfect date night to get away from the craziness of wedding planning. We’ll never forget this dance. The pictures, videos and looks on our guests faces will be memories we cherish forever. We can’t thank you enough Michele for our perfect first dance! Highly recommend this studio and you won’t be disappointed if you choreograph a dance for your big day with Michele!
David R: We loved working with Michele! We came to her with literally zero dance experience. She was welcoming and encouraging, and choreographed a simple and fun dance that we loved. Michele was also flexible when we almost changed our song with two weeks to go, helping us explore some new ideas before we eventually came back to our original song. We are so happy we found her!
Brady Lenahan: Michele does a great job. We enjoyed the lessons and the dance was a success on wedding day :)
Ryan Callanan: We couldn't have been happier with our experience with Michele! She made us feel comfortable and gave us little tricks to remember our dance moves. We didn't do a choreographed dance but she gave us the tools we needed to make us look like we did! To all the engaged couples preparing for their first dance, GO SEE MICHELE!
Catherine Mills: We found Michele on Yelp and the wonderful reviews are all true. She was so much fun to work with and our dance lesson date nights were a blast. Michele took two people with four left feet and helped us learn a fun a beautiful first dance for our wedding. She pushed us out of our comfort zones and taught us a lift that shocked every one of our wedding guests!
Brian Hanafin: Michele was a fantastic dance instructor! She tailored our lessons exactly as we were looking for and we are now well prepared for our wedding in just a few short weeks. Could not recommend her enough!
Juan Arcila: Michele is a fantastic teacher! She is personable, patient, and makes the classes very fun! We looked forward to her classes every week while we practiced for our wedding dance. We can’t wait to perform it! I highly recommend Michele!
Emily Geller: Highly recommend working with Michele at Dance in Boston if you want to learn or improve your dancing. We saw her for several private dance lessons to learn a dance for our wedding. I’m not very coordinated and had never taken a lesson before and Michele did wonders teaching me and being patient as I learned. I’m shocked how much I improved and so quickly. We felt so confident doing our dance and dancing the rest of the night at our wedding. Already been using the techniques at other events too. We had so much fun at all the lessons and have already recommended her to our friends! Super helpful she has evening classes which made it easy to fit in the few months before our wedding.
Conor Moore: My fiancé and I did 5 lessons for our 1st dance. We were both very self conscious about our dance ability and by the end, totally confident and ready for our wedding! Michele is a phenomenal teacher, I truly couldn’t believe the progress we made in a few weeks. Would highly recommend!!
David O'Connor: Michele is awesome! My wife and I used her to prepare for our first dance at our wedding, and she made the whole experience so relaxing and enjoyable. She instantly made us feel comfortable, and we shared plenty of laughs along the way, not to mention successfully taught us a great dance! Would highly recommend! We also love her dogs :)
Jen Hickey: My fiancé and I took dance lessons here for our wedding dance and had an awesome time with Michelle. She was kind, helpful and informative- we loved the classes and working with her!
mike n: My wife and I took lessons for our daughters wedding. Our Daughter and son in law also took lessons. Michelle is great!!! Great communicator and teacher.
Jordan k: Had a wonderful time practicing our first dance here. Michele is a great teacher
Marianne Gorski: Michele said she makes ballroom dancing fun and she was right! Looking forward to our first dance thanks to Michele.
Felipe: Michele is a fantastic patient instructor with great vision on how to arrange a dance, and above all patience for those of us who are less skilled in the dancing arts. Over four lessons she helped us put together a gorgeous routine that impressed all our guests, and which made us feel good about ourselves on the dancefloor, including several turns that looked technically challenging and which proved to be a breeze under her tutelage. She also did a great job of defraying our nerves and making sure we were properly prepared.Absolutely recommend her for any and all dancing needs.
