Donna Johnson: I have used this bank for over 30 years. My parents used it, my siblings use it, and many friends use it. I have always been treated with courtesy. I love the on line banking (just wish I could transfer from my passbook savings to my checking), and on the rare occasions that I have had to contact the call center, they've always been very helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend ECSB.

D Penn: Let me first start by saying, this is only the second Google review ever written by me but I really wanted to add my two cents here. I opened an account with ECSB recently only because the business for which I was working used them & thought it would be easier to set up direct deposit. The woman with whom I dealt in the Medford branch(I'm embarrassed to say I don't remember her name)was awesome & treated me as though I was depositing six figures, which unfortunately wasn't the case. To be honest, I'm probably a customer that cost them money to have but you definitely wouldn't think it whenever I go in there(I use the Woburn branch now). I'm sure the "unflattering" Google reviews on here aren't fabricated but they definitely don't warrant one from me.

They are always polite they are always professional anytime I’ve had a problem, and the problems have always been just a misunderstanding by them sometimes or by me usually.I know it’s easy to hate Banks, There are quite a few I don’t like but If your looking for a professional bank you should check this one out
Matthew Christensen: I'm not sure why there are low reviews. I got great help from both the Online Supervisor Jeffery Shapiro and from the Main in branch associate Shannon. I had a great experience opening up the CD, and was told of more products that we will consider for the future. They were respectful and professional. Maybe there has been a change at ECSB and you should try for yourself like I did.

Jeremy Coffey: ECSB has been the banker for our small business since 2015. They took a chance on us when bigger banks turned up their noses, and have stuck with us through the Covid-19 pandemic (which has crushed so many small businesses). Their staff is professional, courteous and respectful of the real-world needs of small businesses. If you own a business, and are looking for a partner vs. a big institution who is more intent on collecting fees vs. helping their customers, give ECSB a look. Our primary banker has been Deborah Dobbins. Can't say enough about her and her team. Feel free to contact me for more information and candid feedback.
Kevin OMalley: Have worked with Tim Tuttle in the Belmont branch and he's a pros pro. Extremely responsive, Rarely a half hour goes by if I have a question via e mail that he fails to respond in a timely fashion. Always responds to phone calls promptly. Linda the branch manager is superb and I urge anyone looking for banking services to walk in there and you'll be pleased. Rates are very competitive on mortgages. Couldn't be happier.

Henry Mencken: This is for the fine folks over at the Medford branch. My wife and I were looking to move on from our current bank. Our criteria is simple:Do they offer online banking: yesDo they offer billpay for things like national grid: yesCan we tranfer money between accounts: yesAre they close by: yesLastly where are the ATMs: I can walk to the nearest one!As for customer service, I generally don't expect much given the service we've endured with our last bank and quite frankly banks in general. That is not the case for our Medford branch. Osvaldo was the man who helped set us up. He's extremely patient, he made sure we understood the accounts we opened up. Even went above and beyond to make my wife feel comfortable through the the process. Not to mention a Pats fan so even more points there! They really couldn't have a better representative than Osvaldo! A couple of days later we needed a Notary for our paperwork and that brought us back to our branch. I did not realize it was the branches vp Kathyann who helped us out. She took us in immediately and even assisted with our witness on the paperwork! Thanks to Luis for the assist! This experience only confirmed that we chose the right bank. Even better still, three days later we got a follow up call from Jennifer to ask if we were satisfied with our new accounts and if there was anything she could help with. This is textbook customer service. I know because this is what I do in my job. While some folks may have had other experiences, it couldn't have been with the Medford branch. These folks were by far the best in banking I have ever experienced. I look forward to a long run with East Cambridge Savings Bank!

David Murphy: This has to be the worst bank I have ever had the displeasure of trying to deal with. Tried to open a savings account with them and jumped trough all their hurdles of sending proof of identity and address. Had an email confirming they'd received it and they'd be in touch to open my account...then never heard another word from them! Emails went ignored, phoned their customer service team, went through verification of who I was then cut off. Such a terrible service!

Pj Westin: I've never had anything but a positive experience with ECSB. My wife and I shopped around for a while when deciding where to open a joint account, they offered the most competitive interest rate and perks (ATM fee reimbursement, etc.), and we've never regretted the decision. The customer service is always excellent in every branch, and they even have a really good banking app (which I was surprised by, since they're such a small bank). Really glad we went with them.

Christopher O'Donnell: Best loan application process I've ever experienced (auto loan). Feels like any time you go through this process it's always a headache but the people I worked with at USAlliance (specifically want to give a shoutout to Iveliz), were great. Super responsive and informative and walked you through the process.I also liked being able to communicate with the processor over email and call them directly over the phone if need be. I'd like to reiterate the responsive part cause that's typically the worst part of any loan process, but this was a delight.

Tells me everything is with the underwriter and he cannot help out right now.Fast forward another 3 weeks without ANY communication. Just to tell me I am disqualified. Communication with clientele was just plainly god awful. Then I have heard anything from Ariel since that first conversation.One of the only reasons I got disqualified was what I disclosed to him right in the beginning. Said “It would 100% not be an issue”. Thanks for the lie on top of everything.

Every time I go in to the Medford Branch The tellers and manager know me by name that means a lot to your customers when they recognize you and you recognize them. I have referred all my friends to this bank weather they transfer over or not I’m not sure but it is the friendliest bank that I have ever had my account with. The online apps are fantastic you could do practically anything by yourself online. This is the best bank ever in my opinion.

Cullen Scott: The notary here has no clue how to do his job. After watching me sign the document with two photo IDs one state real ID and a US Passport he told me because my state didnt put a signature on my license he couldn't verify my signature. The man watched me sign the paper with his two eyes and refused to notarize my document which cost 25 dollars to overnight and must be overnighted again. He had no idea the requirements of a notary.
Basant Parida: I along with my wife visited this Branch yesterday to open a CD. We were very courteously greeted and were explained all the alternatives as well as the currently available best rates. I could book my CD with an interest rate that I consider is the highest available in the Banking sector today. I was very pleased with the wonderful service offered by Ms. Irenemarie Magnarelli and Mr. Al Montejo. Incidentally, I am a long-standing member of the USAlliance Federal Credit Union eversince 2004 and I am very happy with the best financial services received over all these years.

othmane bourakkadi idrissi: The worst customer service in the planet, I kept calling for a month sending emails no one responding and this happened 2 seperate times. Coming to the US I thought boFa might be at least average, but it is mediocre you can find better in each part of the world even in developping countries the service is much much better. Run away from these guys they only care about you a little the first day when you're opening an account and they disappear after.

Carmen Chan: My husband and I came to join our accounts together. The account manager successfully added him to my account. But butchered it by accidentally changing my ATM card's PIN number to my husband's PIN number AND they forgot to issue an separate ATM card for my husband AND they didn't set him up with an online account. Should I mention that the manager was also 15min late to a 30min appointment? Truly unprofessional. All in all, it caused a huge issue 2 days later when I tried to use my card at the Central Square branch. The Central Square branch caught all these errors and fixed it for us, and was horrified at how careless the Harvard Square manager was.Harvard Square branch was also much more interested in signing us up for credit cards/upgraded checking and savings account, than to help us with what we had scheduled the appointment. This together with his botched attempt at joining our accounts, convinced me this branch was more interested in selling products, than to help an existing customer and retain our business. Little do they know, if they had helped me with my concerns first, I would be more open to their offers.

Kate: I’m writing this review from the lobby of Citizen’s bank next door. I’ve been a BoA customer for almost a decade but due to the awful service of this location there was no point in having the convenience of it and I stopped being a BoA customer.
RV: It's a bank of america, so you know what you're getting. This branch is particularly bad because of the crowd that hangs out by the front entrance. Feels unsafe. If you have to bank with BoA would recommend trying another branch.

Emily Beato: The account is easy to manage and opening the account is very quick. There’s just one problem.If there’s something wrong with your card such as potential fraud or any kind of suspicious activity, they never contact you about it. I used my card in February 4th. Since then, it kept declining at stores. I just called today and discovered my card was closed and they also thought there was fraud involved! They never notified me about anything! I had to learn the hard way! I’m seriously considering closing my account and getting a new bank! They seriously need to CONTACT the card holder and actually notify them if there’s something wrong! It would save so much time and embarrassment!
Frank Pinto: My family has used ECSB for over 20 years. The staff are always to the point, but friendly. Very transparent way of doing business and the bank has a nice atmosphere.

For small business owners out there, Chase is coming to MA next month. They have the best rates for Merchant processings and offer unlimited trades (for IRA and brokerage accounts) to their private clients. How does it feel BAC when one of your best clients pull out 1.5 M dollar out of the accounts?

Nancy Naam: I went to the other branch down the street to open an account, I had to wait for an hour. I left and came to this branch, they helped me within 10 min. They were very professional and knowledge.
Joanna Chung: People were friendly but frustratingly slow... two-finger typing, asking for my SSN 5 times (I counted, and they had me write it down on a post-it note the last time), system going offline in the middle leading to them asking for all of my information a second time, etc. A process they said would take 15 minutes took me over 50, and I couldn't even complete it. Facilities are nice but go in there with a very cool head.
Mike Waite: I needed to cancel my wife's debit card because she lost it, however the associate cancelled mine. Now I let my wife borrow my card for today (the day before thanksgiving) so she could go grocery shopping, but when she went to pay for a carriage full of groceries the card did not work and was the only card she had on her. So thank you Phillip for the embarrassment and now I have to leave work early and make my 40 mile commute back home to the south shore.
David Dai: @2pm, only one cashier who is obviously not capable. Took 25 minutes for one customer. Had to wait for 40 minutes to get serviced. Over staffed on the loan section. Complained to the floor coordinator and he said sorry we have only one cashier. You don't see there is a long line and not moving?
